Short conversational excerpt from Donald Burns’ YouTube video "When You Plan, God Laughs" in which the host and a guest discuss unpredictability, taking leaps of faith, and a business anecdote about opening a second restaurant location after an unexpected opportunity. The clip highlights a faith-over-fear mindset and references a Voltaire quote about God as a comedian.
I've learned if you make plans, if, like, you make plans, God laughs. So I think it's sometimes better. Just like with my second location, an opportunity knocked on my door. And, you know, sometimes you take that leap of faith because you have strong faith and you think that if it was meant to be, it will be.
It's funny. You said. You said, when you make plans, God laughs. There's actually a famous quote from Voltaire that says, God is a comedian playing to an audience too afraid to laugh.
Yeah, I completely agree.
Yeah.

If your restaurant only works because you work 80 hours a week, it doesn't work.
