A short dialogue from a YouTube video in which two speakers prompt each other to describe hard lessons learned and changes they now make in consulting and coaching. The excerpt centers on questions about practical lessons and adjustments to consulting/coaching practice.
Since you've opened, what are some like.
Hard lessons you've learned.
That you now maybe change just some of the ways.
You do.
Consulting and coaching?
Man, I tell you, it put me back in touch with the empathetic side of me. I feel like, you know, I was going through consulting at such a high level, working on, you know, large chains and bigger, bigger groups, and I kind of lost touch with the reality of change, just, just being in touch with people. Like, it's easy for me to show up and tell you all these great things to do and then realize you got to go back and try to shoehorn those ideas. The implementation of those ideas and thoughts somewhere within this 80 hour week that you work, that you have no time for anyway, definitely taught me to be a lot more strategic, a lot more kind of paint by numbers, a little bit in the, in the detail and the execution plan that I, that I give my clients, it's used to kind of be like, here's the four steps, step one, step two. Now it's like, here's the 20 steps that are going to take 10 minutes and you have to do them in blocks of five at a time for two and a half minutes each and then you're done. Like, it just, it's just required a lot more detail.
