Why We Always Wait 21 Days Before Deciding #LeadershipTruth #HiringSmart #OwnerAdvice

A hiring manager shares why he tells clients to wait 21 days before deciding if a new hire is working out. Initial enthusiasm fades fast, and real problems surface after the first few weeks.
One of my clients, she's looking for a manager, and she hired a guy. Totally in love with this guy. He's gonna. He'll be awesome. He's gonna be my new manager. And I'm like, just relax first. And then. And then she sent me. He's like, he did all his work for me. He went home and he sent me this. She sent me a screenshot of what her. And it was like, we need to do this. This. We need to rip up the floor, get a new floor. We need to put new wallpaper, change the menu. We need all these things he was doing. And I was like, this guy is not gonna make it 100. He's like, he's telling you what to do with your money. He's worked one day so far. Yeah. Yeah. And I'm like, he's not gonna work. Like, don't even waste your time with this guy. He's. He's already super comfortable telling you what to do. This morning, I get a text. He sent me a text, and he annoyed the out of me, so I'm not even gonna have him back anymore. I'm like, you just gotta, like, I've seen this a million times, and you've seen it probably 100 million times me. You just have to just relax. We call it the 21 day. It's like when every time someone calls me and says, I'm so happy. They're gonna be amazing, I always say, hold. Hold that thought. 21 days. You told me that in 21 days. I'm gonna ask you a question. How are you feeling about them now? And I mean, 99 of the time. Oh, yeah.
