One of the most damaging things you can believe about getting into a healthy relationship is that you have to be perfect before you get into the healthy relationship. The keyword here is health, not perfection. I'm Dr. Monique Thompson. I help couples and adults find healthier relationships and improve themselves so that they can be healthier, but I don't help anybody become perfect because there's no such thing. If you've been holding yourself back from dating or from getting back out there because you feel like you need to be perfect, or you've been holding back from connecting with somebody because they're not perfect, you are destining yourself to a life of loneliness. And nobody wants that. Nobody needs that. So I hope that you'll give yourself a break. Look for health, not perfection.
