In this YouTube video, Dr. Monique Thompson acknowledges that Mother’s Day can evoke a wide range of emotions for women—celebration, grief, loneliness, or estrangement. She explains that, as a therapist and life coach, she encounters these complex feelings daily and believes that communal acknowledgment can be healing. To support women during Mental Health Month, she announces three complimentary group gatherings: (1) Friday, May 8 at 7 p.m. Central Time for mothers whose own mothers “missed the mark,” (2) Saturday morning, May 9 for mothers who have lost their own mother, and (3) mid‑morning Saturday for mothers struggling with adult‑child relationships or feeling isolated. She invites anyone who identifies with these experiences—potentially multiple categories—to sign up and join the supportive sessions.

Hi, it's Dr. Thompson. Mother's Day is coming up this Sunday, and for some people it is just an elaborate celebration. It's brunches and flowers and matching outfits. For some, it's at least a morning of tears because you miss someone who meant so much to you. For others, it could be a tender day. You're not sure about your adult children. You're wondering about what you did wrong. You know, what? How did we get so far off course? Maybe you're estranged from some of them, or maybe you just really you know it's a a day of loneliness because your mother wasn't there. Maybe she just didn't clock in, and this is not in fact a day of celebration. So you could be in a place where Mother's Day is tender, and that's what this weekend. Is all about. Now, on Sunday, Dr. Thompson will be celebrating Mother's Day in her own special way. But of course, there's some people dear to my heart who are no longer walking on this side of paradise. My mother is still living. I love her so much. Happy early Mother's Day to her. But as a therapist and as a life coach, I run across these situations literally every day. And I know that sometimes just coming together to acknowledge and deal with things Can mean so much. All right, so on Friday, on May 8th at 7 p.m. Central, the first group will be gathering, and that is for those who you know your your mom missed the mark. She missed the mark, and you just need to come together with people who get it. All right, and then on Saturday morning, first thing, moms who are no longer with us. If you lost your mom and you just want to kind of come together for some acknowledgment with other people. Know what that loss is like, we'll be getting together on Saturday morning first thing. And then mid-morning, those moms who are really struggling right now, your adult children, your relationship, maybe there's such a gap that it's just not a celebration. It's not what you wanted it to be. It's not what you expected. And you just need someplace where you can acknowledge how things really are with moms who get it, who get what your experience has been like. So whatever category you fall in, You might fall in more than one. You are welcome to come and join me. There is— this is a complimentary time for us to get together during Mental Health Month. Moms, I wanna see you. Reach out, sign up, and I'll see you soon. Take care. Thank you.
