Synergy Legacy Edie Fraser

Edie Fraser built her career around connecting people and advancing women in business. Inspired by Kennedy's Peace Corps and mentors like Maya Angelou, she founded STEM Connector and Million Women Mentors to create pathways for women in leadership and public service.
So in the early days when I was at Duke University and heard President Kennedy say, what are you doing for your country? I immediately signed up to come to.
Washington to be part of the Peace Corps. I had come from a family with a mother and dad who started Casual Corn and one of the owners in the country with this spirit of not only entrepreneurism but truly also putting that to work to build a business. I started in consumerism and public affairs and started then diversity best practice practices, best practices in corporate communications and the business Women's network. Then when I sold that diversified search welcomed me and we started STEM Connector and Million Women Mentors and now the Women's Business Collaborative as a nonprofit. But it was truly those businesses and now a non profit organization that leads because of the need. Favorite aspect of being an entrepreneur is a passion and having relationships that are deep.
It's not cold calling, it's relationship building because you're out for celebrating and building results. My greatest inspiration was really Maya Angelou.
Her messages of never giving up and perseverance of getting negative people out of your life. And I would add RBG because Ruth Bader Ginsburg told us so much and if we didn't have a place at the table, we make it. And also to my mom and dad as entrepreneurs who also had a spirit of giving back. What does philanthropy mean? To me it's everything because you've got to give back and especially to nonprofits. That's what's exciting about our Women's Business Collaborative today.
It's contributing to other women business causes and women's causes. Get more women into public service and into Congress. It's all about what you can do to make sure you're giving back and leaving a legacy.
