How Nolan Added $10K/Mo To His Video Business - Master Filmmaker Review

A short interview between Speaker A (host, Master Filmmaker) and Nolan, a video-business owner who credits a coaching/mastermind program with helping him shift from a freelancer mindset to running a business and raising monthly revenue. Nolan reports moving from roughly $4–5k/month to about $9.7–9.8k (with prior peaks near $10–15k), and highlights one-on-one coaching, inbound systems/automations, peer feedback, and improved sales process as key drivers.

What's going on, guys? I'm here with one of our clients, Nolan, who went from 0 to 10k a month in his video business. And what's going on, Nolan? How's it going?
How's it going? How you doing, dude?
Happy to have you here. For anybody who maybe doesn't know you, your business give us a little bit of background on you, where you started, and kind of what your journey's been up to this point.
Yeah. So I've owned my business and founded it, I want to say, just under two years ago. About two years ago. Um, when I first started, I was very heavy into, like, freelancing, and I didn't really have a system, you know, in place or really know how to actually, like, sell in like, a normal or proper way. I kind of just went about it, like, hoping for deals and would just go into, you know, sales calls. I didn't even call them sales calls. I just like, you know, they just were calls. You're like, hey, are you ready to pay me? Yeah, I was too eager. I was undervaluing myself. You know, I'd be like, super excited if I got, like, a $1200 deal. And to some people, that's like, a lot. But, like, after going through this course, I realized that, like, that's like, barely even the bare minimum of, like, what, you know, you should be charging and. And the way to actually prove that to, like, a client and, like, position that in a way where it's like, you know, you can easily charge 5, 10k, even like 25k for some packages.
And like, that mental shift, I had to go through it too. It's like, you sure? Like, can we really?
Yes.
It's like, yes.
Yeah.
I think it was interesting because you said, like, from freelancer to, like, business owner, because there's like, the technician side where it's like, I just love doing the thing. And then there's the business owner side, which is running the business of video. And I think we. We definitely help you more with the business side. Yeah, it's interesting for. It's been cool to see you make that switch, but from like, hey, I'm freelancer to now I'm a business owner. And. And how you've switched over to that, which is really cool.
Yeah.
Like, what was the biggest problem prior to joining the program in the first place?
I think the biggest problem. It was kind of a mix of both. It was. I was slightly like, like, I. I kind of need my handheld for, like, you know, the first few months. Like, that's Just the way that I like to learn, you know, is like just constant, constant, you know, support and being able to like, bounce ideas off of people. Um, and you know, I, I am actually still in another mastermind and was in one prior to joining this, but it. That one didn't fully have the, the one on one support that you guys have, as well as like the, the. The constant, like, you know, renditions and like just help that you offer, whether it's just the one on ones or the, the weekly, the weekly calls with everybody. Yeah, I've been doing that a lot more and it's just like I've gotten tremendous value from hopping on those and talking with both you and other students who are like, exactly where I am, you know.
Yeah, I love that. I think it is important. You gotta be around other people who are doing the same thing as you and, and get that support. And you said you went from literally like zero, like you had no clients before this and then ramped your way up to 10k, was that right?
Yeah, so. So I did have a consistent, like, I'd say consistently, like before joining the program, I was around, I was around 4k, 5k. I was, um. And you know, from implementing and learning from you guys, like, I was able to bring it up to about 10 or 15, and then all of a sudden, like, I had clients that were pausing and like stopping like out of the blue. So coming into December, I had nothing. Like, I was at ground zero again. Yep. But I wasn't, I wasn't fully worried because, like, you know, after implementing and just like the knowledge that I gained from here, I was like, I know that I can close more deals and like, I'm not worried about, you know, eating ramen for the rest of this month. Like.
Right.
So. So, you know, I. With you utilizing the inbound as well as, like, just the methods of, you know, approaching clients, I was able to get it from zero to. I think it's like 9800, 9700, something like that. And that's, you know, we're not even in December yet, so.
Yeah, I love it, man. And was there any. Because, like, from the outside looking in, was there any reason you kind of chose our program over maybe some of the other programs? Because I'm sure there's other good programs out there as well. Was there anything that kind of drew you to this one specifically?
Yeah, I think because I was in, and I still am in another program. You know, I learned like, sales and like selling in that one. But you guys Just definitely had more of a. A one on one approach that was like, really beneficial for me. You know, like, if feel like you're the type of person that just needs that constant support as well as just like, you just like to bounce ideas off of someone and like, it just helps you, like, get further, you know, and that's what I needed. That's what I saw with you guys. And um, Hakeem, I'm sure he gets mentioned a lot. He, he did a great job of like walking me through, like that process and how it'll work for me, you know?
Yeah, no, I think I'm the same way, man. I mean, I've joined a lot of masterminds. I've. I've spent a lot of money on my own education and like one to one is very under. It's underrated in my opinion. I think that having one to one feedback in addition to group feedback is very important. But the problem that I ran into when I, I'd pay like 10, 15, 20, $30,000 for a mastermind, I'd just be in a group call with 50 other people and I'd be like, this is. I can't get my question answered. There's no way to talk to the coaches. And for me that was like super frustrating. And so that's why I wanted to make sure that we had one on ones and I'm glad that's been helpful for you.
Sweet, dude.
And I guess was there anything specific about the program that you felt like was really helpful to you?
Yeah, I would say. I mean all of it honestly has been helpful. Any like, from the inbound, like, system and setting that up with all the automations like that I would have never even known how to do. You can't just like Google that, you know, you can't just. I mean, you probably can set up inbound. It's like there's like, yeah, not effectively because. Because then there's all these little nuances where you, when you get into it, where it's like, you know, if I have a question and like, I'm able to talk with you guys about it and like have that immediate impact of like getting that change rather than waiting three weeks of trying to figure it out and then losing potential deals of, you know, not getting that system in place and having it set and then just all of the other, you know, like, like different videos that you have on there of, you know, the different objection handling all, you know, just everything on there is, is awesome.
I feel like your sales process has really changed since you've worked with us, because I've really seen you kind of blossom in. In your sales process, which is awesome for me to see because I think when you started, it was more so like, hey, I'm just going to hop on this call. And now we've really shifted you to, like, taking authority on the meeting, leading people, showing them how these pieces of content are going to help them get a result in their business, which is why they're going to pay you the amount of money that they pay you, you know?
Yeah, yeah. And I think that ties in for sure to, like, the. The one on ones as well as just the feedback from both you and the students. Like, I think one of the biggest things too with this group is like, how. How much of, like, a family it really is, you know, with the constant support. You know, Dan specifically, uh, he's been super helpful with me and like, you know, even reviewing my calls that I post in the chat.
Yeah.
Um, and that's just like, super helpful because sometimes you don't see, like, looking, like when you're in a call, you know, you don't realize that you're not saying some questions or like, you should have said something this way. But then having that feedback after. After the call and being able to watch it back and, like, you know, see where I could have improved just like, helps me so much with improving.
Yeah, yeah, it's. It's that feedback loop, man. Cause it's like you can't learn in a vacuum. And when you're in it, you're in it. It's like, it's why pro NFL players watch game. At the end of the day, it's because they want to see what they can see and then get feedback on it. And kind of a weird question, but I guess, like, where do you feel like you would have been if you hadn't taken the leap, taken action? Because, like, it's scary, right? It's investing in a new program. It's investing in. In yourself. Like, a lot of people are nervous about that. Where do you think you would have been if you hadn't taken that action?
I don't think I would be as confident as I am now in. In selling, you know, because with. With that other group, like, I. I kind of learned that, but I didn't fully, like, get the grasp of it. Whereas, like, with you guys, I was able to get the grasp of it, and I'm still able to, like, you know, learn more and more every day on top of what I've already watched and, like, gotten from you guys. So I think, like, without it, I probably. I. I don't think I would have been able to get from zero to, you know, the 10K or 9,700 that I'm at just going into December. I think I would have probably been stuck around, like, you know, I probably could have gotten one deal, maybe one or two, like, if I was lucky, you know, around like 2K, 5K. But yeah, no, I think it's with just the knowledge that I have, has been able to. Has helped me just gain that, you know, like, solid speed to it.
Yeah, it's like, speed. And I think that a lot of people think it's like, well, you know, it's not like we're doing anything super secretive. It's just we're helping you speed that process up. You know what I mean? And I think for a lot of people, it's either you pay in time or you pay in money. And some people are okay taking years paying in time for something, and other people like myself, I'm like, yo, I just need to pay someone who already knows, knows this stuff. How can I get it implemented quickly so I can get a deal quickly and make that money back? You know what I mean? And last question, but if anyone's maybe on the fence about, you know, booking a call and at least speaking with us about potentially joining the program, what. What advice would you give them?
Yeah, that's a good question. I guess it really comes down to how dedicated they are to improving their business, because I think absolutely, no matter what, when they join this program, they'll. They'll get the return on their investment. But it's. It's not like a magic switch. Once you, you know, get into the program where it's like, you know, you.
Oh, my God, this money's in my bank account.
Yeah, no, it's not going to happen. It takes work.
It's like going to a gym, you know, it's like.
Exactly.
Yeah.
It's. It's compounding of, you know, doing these sales calls, you know, sending some very embarrassing ones for you guys to review, but then having that feedback of how to improve it, you know, it's like. It's like. Yeah, when you. When you join it, it's you. You won't regret it for sure.
Absolutely, man. Well, dude, I appreciate your time, excited to help you close more deals, and I can't wait to see where you're at in.
