Short spoken advice on building and maintaining a vendor list (e.g., in Google Sheets) containing trusted videographers and editors with their day rates. The speaker recommends collecting names, noting whether individuals perform multiple roles (shooting/editing), recording day rates for each role, and then using the sheet to estimate project costs when jobs arrive.

So do you have a list of, like, an Excel spreadsheet of people that you trust? As far as, like, I would do, like a vendor list on Google Sheets, and I would just do, like, videographer. And then do a bunch of people that you know, because I'm sure you know a lot of people who are videographers in your area. Bunch of names of those people and then get a day rate and put that next to their name in that sheet. So now you know all of their day rates. And then same thing for an editor. Contact a bunch of people. Maybe it's the same person. Maybe they're a videographer and they edit. Right? If that's great, then put them under the editor column. Have a bunch of people's names in the editor column, and then put a bunch of their day rates and ask them, like, like, hey, what would you charge for a day rate on xyz? And then list out all those numbers. And then when you get a call for a job, just ask them, whatever, have a number and figure out, okay, how much is the shooter for one day? How much is the editor for one day? What are my costs going to be on this project?
