Short motivational monologue (YouTube) by Eric Deeran arguing that to attract others' investment (clients, money) you must first invest in yourself—time, money, and effort. Speaker reports a personal turning point: after investing in his own development and going professional, client rates rose, work became more consistent, and he stopped chasing every gig. The piece emphasizes alignment between who you are and who you need to be.

If you're not investing in yourself, why should anyone else? A lot of people think they can shortcut their way to success. But if you're not willing to invest money, time and effort into your own skill, business and life, then how the heck are you going to expect anybody else to do that for you? It's just a misalignment of who you are and who you need to be. So if you think that you can just ask people to invest thousands and tens of thousands of dollars in your video services, but you yourself are not willing to invest tens of thousands of dollars in your own self development and business development, then how do you expect to get to where you want to be? It wasn't until I started investing in myself, I got serious and I went pro and I took this seriously, that clients started to pay more, the work got more consistent, and I stopped feeling like I had to chase every single gig that came my way because I was becoming the person that I wanted to attract. So ask yourself, are you investing in you? Because if you're not, then how do you expect anyone else to.
