Time Traps: What Every Videographer MUST Escape!

Videographers waste hundreds of hours on editing and copywriting when they should focus on sales and hiring. One creator spent 122 hours on copy that could have been 122 sales calls, worth $360k at a 10% close rate on $30k packages. Hire a shooter and copywriter first, then a project manager once you have systems in place.

All right, in this video, we're going to be going over with one of our clients how he's misusing his time in his video business and it's causing him to get bottlenecked in the business right now. And fundamentally, if you're not working on the right things, but you're busy all the time, your business will not grow. So that's why you see a lot of people who are super busy, but their business isn't actually growing. So in this video, I break down exactly how that works and what we go through with him. And without further ado, let's jump into it.
Your highest leverage things as a business owner are going to be meetings. So, like, meetings with either new clients, it's going to be hiring. So interviewing more people and hiring them and then creating content, because those are all high leverage things. Because if you look at the things that are high leverage, it's hiring people to buy their time and then it's creating content. If you can create one piece of content, it could be seen by thousands, millions, billions of people. So you don't. There's no incremental unit of, like, effort to do that. And then, like, recruiting people is the biggest thing as well, is where you have interviews with people who are going to be coming on to start buying your time back. Those are kind of the main things. And then, like I said, sales calls. Excuse me, sales calls. Because that's obviously generating revenue. But there will come a time, like, for me, it's not worth my time to get on sales calls anymore because we take so many of them. My highest leverage task right now is creating content and hiring more people for the team and then working with you guys. Because I love working with you guys. It's awesome, right? Like, I do this because I obviously love doing this. I love, I love getting on these coaching calls and helping you guys. But, like, the highest leverage things are going to be like creating content and then hiring people to buy back my time. And that's pretty much it. So, like anything that's like copywriting. I mean, dude, we can hire somebody. You can pay like a thousand bucks a month to do copywriting. Like, max. That's if you have a lot of clients. Sorry, Reshare that real quick.
Oh, yeah, you're good. Over the last. Yeah, like, year. And like, look at how much time.
You spent on video editing, bro. This is over a year.
Yeah. Oh, no. I'm sorry.
So this.
That video editing is not. Yeah, that's not me. That's my. Okay, okay.
That's Somebody else, but they're not.
They're not within the Monday.
Ah, so video. It's good that you got video editing out. That's perfect. Because you don't need to be doing that video editing notes. Yeah, that's fine. You can stay.
I feel like. Yeah, there's a lot of. Still a lot of time that I feel like that I. A lot of times that. But like still over, I guess over the last year and a half. So it's kind of does break down.
A decent 18 is not horrible. Right. What I'd be looking at is the content creation and filming. You need to hire somebody next to do that. You 100% need to do the copywriting. Because look at how much time you spend on copywriting. 122 hours over the past year.
Yeah. Sanity.
Like you can hire a copywriter and someone to post on social media for like pennies on the dollar. You should not be doing that. Like you want to look at, like you want to look at your time as like money, because it is money.
At the end of the day.
I know that's like a classic saying, but it's like I just deposited 122 hours into something that I could hire somebody. 10 bucks an hour to do.
Yeah.
So you could have paid like, what's 10? Let's do some math. Could have paid like 1500 bucks to have somebody do that same exact thing. Do you think your time's more worth more than 1200 bucks for 122 hours?
Yeah, that's looking at it that way. That's.
That's what, how many sales you could have taken? This. This is going to hurt you, bro. You could have taken 122 sales calls an hour apiece. And at the worst close rate in the world, you could have taken 122 sales calls. The worst close rate in the world. Let's say you close at 10%. You could have closed 12 deals at whatever your price point is right now. What's your current price point? Like 30k?
Yeah, about. Yeah, right around there. 30.
12 times $30,000.
Yeah. It's a lot.
A lot of money. That's $360,000 right there.
Yeah.
So you could have. You could have made an extra $360,000. And that's worst case, bro. That's like you closing at 10%.
Yeah. The low close.
That's like you're. You'll probably close it like 20 or 30, which is closer to like 600k. This is why people are bottlenecks. This is why people are bottling is because they're doing things that they do not need to be spending their time doing.
Yeah, it's definitely interesting looking at this, because I never. I've seen this number, how high it is, but never thought, like, that's my bottleneck. It's these two. Like, that's huge right there. And this is. Filming in photo is easy to outsource, Dude.
Copywriting. There's a million copywriters for $10 an hour. Like. Like, there's a million of them. And this is, like, this is legit. What keeps people stuck? It's not that you need more leads usually it's not that you need more sales. Like, if you have. If you have clients, if you're past that bottleneck, your next bottleneck is people. Like, you literally don't have enough people to do the work because, like, you can't. You can't win the super bowl by yourself. Like, why do you think you can run a business that makes millions of dollars a year by yourself? There's literally no way. It's not possible. Right. I think this is just super helpful for everyone else to see, too. Once you have the leads, once you have the clients, like, it's time to start outsourcing. So copywriting, content creation, those are two that would make. That would get you another 200 hours a year. You could take another 200 sales calls. You could close another 20 clients at 10% at 30. 20 times 30 is. Dun, dun, dun. 600 grand. Let's say it's. Let's say it's like, less than that. Let's say it's half, like, an extra 300 grand. So. So action items from here. Is there anything else you do that you don't like doing? Like, do you have a daily. You said you don't have the daily breakdown yet.
Yeah, I gotta. I gotta figure out how to get in. I. I had it in here. I just don't know how to. I had to play with the filters. It somehow disappeared on me.
You find it, put it in your channel. I want to see. What was that? If you find it, put it in. Put it in our private channel. I want to.
Yeah, yeah. Biggest things.
I mean.
I feel like, I guess a project manager would be a role like that. That would be a big, like, because this. This client right here, there's a. Like, they want to jump on calls all the time, and they want to do all of that stuff.
And I. I would say first thing at a time, look at the. Look at the data let's make decisions based on data first. What the data is telling me right now is you at least need to hire a shooter for photo and video and you need to hire a copywriter and social media poster. Those are your first two hires that we need. And then once you hire them, you get them up to speed. It takes you a couple weeks to get them ramped up. We, we do all the SOPs, we get them integrated, they're happy. Then we bring on a project manager. But like you should be the project manager as we're bringing on the copywriter and the content creation people. And then once like, like don't solve a bottleneck when you have things below it that need to be solved first. You know what I'm saying? Yeah, because like at the very least, like we do the copywriting, do content creation, you free up another 200 hours a year. And then what's going to happen is you're going to need to train these people on like how you want it done. And as you're doing that, you're going to develop the SOPs for the project manager. And then now that you have just document everything you tell them, document how you review the, like, document how you do the video editing notes, document how you do everything. And then when we bring somebody in, we just make a course and we show them how to do it. Like that's what I do for my guys, like within, within go high level. You can make, within our CRM, you can make mini courses in there. So I do like video editor course. Here's step one through 100 of how we do everything. Video shooter course. And then when they onboard, I just have them go through all the training, they download all the knowledge into their brain and then we coach them up to get them to where we want.
Them to be, okay?
