Why doing 6 figures/mo is easier than 5 figures/mo

Eric Deeran walks through why scaling to $300k/mo is easier than staying stuck at $20k/mo. At lower revenue you're doing everything yourself. At higher revenue you hire specialists and delegate. The math forces you to work on the business, not just in it.

Today's video, pretty simple. I want to talk about one of our clients, Matt, and how he added 22k to his video business. And one of the major takeaways that he had that I'm going to read from his win here and I think it might be helpful for other people because I went over this with him and he said it was very, very helpful for him. Something that really stuck with him. So I'll read it here. He said closing out my month at about 22k in revenue collected. That's cash, not in sold contracts. Super pumped about this. Next month I'm aiming for 30 to 40k. Eric said that said something that really stuck with me. It's easier to make 300k a month than it is to make $20,000 a month. And I believe that a hundred percent, most of what I'm doing could be hired out. Some of it already is. But I'm waiting to build the foundation to hire a full time staff that could take a lot of my load off. I'm working a lot on building my company, my processes and even more my skills. And here is a great August. Here's to a great August. So I read that not to be like, oh, look at Matt. Right. Because I think anybody can genuinely do this. But I think the thing, the mindset you have to have is you have to prep yourself for doing 300k a month. Because when you do 300k a month, you have people in each job role to do the thing that they are supposed to be doing. So like you have salespeople, you have fulfillment people, you have video editors, you have videographers, you have CSMs, you have people who are client success managers, people who are hiring those things out. So I think the takeaway for him and what he was saying is like it really is easier to, to make more money than it is to make less money. Because when you're making less money, you have to do all these roles yourself. You can't hire these things out and you kind of feel like a chicken with your head cut off, if that makes sense. And that's definitely how I felt when I was growing my, my business and my video agency where you're doing everything yourself. You feel like you have to do everything yourself. So you really can't get into like a flow on any one thing because you're having to do all these things at the same time. And so just a little bit of a reminder, prep yourself and your thought process around how can I get to 100k a month, 200k a month, 300k a month, whatever it might be. Because when you prep yourself for that, you can actually put yourself in a position where you're going to grow and not put yourself in a position where you have to continuously be kind of struggling for that next project, doing everything yourself. And it puts you in kind of this, like, really tough situation when you're having to do everything yourself. So major props to Matt. And I wanted to just make this short video because I think a lot of people can learn from it. Where it's about working on the business, not working in the business. And when you're working in the business, you're working on the editing, the shooting, the things that we get so excited about that we get caught up with every single day. And that's a struggle sometimes because no one's focusing on the sales side or the growing of the business. You're only focusing on, how can I work in the business, do this next edit? And it kind of limits your mindset, keeps you stuck because you're not thinking about the bigger picture. And as hard, you know, I know a lot of people are like, oh, well, it's easy to do that, like when you're. You're making more money and you have more clients. And I agree. But I think it's also, you have to block some time off in your day every single day to be thinking about, how many leads am I getting, how many calls am I getting? How many clients have I got this month? How many calls did it take me to get that one client? Okay, cool. If it took me 10 calls to get one client, then how do I get 10 calls this week? How do I get 10 calls today? How do I get 10 calls throughout, you know, the next two days? How do I compress that time? Because really, if you want to do 300k in a month and you do 300k in a year, then really all you're doing is you're compressing a year's timeline into one month. So if you took, you know, 200 calls in an entire year, then you would need to take 200 calls in an entire month. And then that becomes. The next question is like, well, I can't take 200 calls in a month, but, oh, okay, now we're thinking strategically right now. We have to hire people to take the calls for us because we physically can't take that many. And you have to think about it this way, because when you prep for scale, you physically cannot do all the work that is required to get to the outcome that you want. And so you have to think about, you know, okay, I got to take 200 call this calls this month. I can't do that. I probably need two separate people who can each take 100 calls each, right? And then that's going to get me to my 300k a month. And you know, with that being said, If I enrolled 50 clients last year, I have to enroll 50 clients this month. It's like, I can't do all that work. I have to hire people to do that work for me. Right. I have to buy back my time. I have to buy other people's time. Right. And when you're hiring an employee, the thing I like to think about is like, you are hiring somebody and you are renting their time, right? Because, you know, each of us, you know, I have 12 hours, you know, 12, 10 working hours a day, I would say. So then if I hire other people, I get another 10 hours. I get another 10 hours here. And think of it, think of it as like you're globbing up time from other people. So it's like, oh, I'm globbing this time. Now we have 24 hours in one day. Oh, I got a third person. Now we have 36 hours in a day. I can't do math. I think it's, yeah, 36. But like, you get the point where it's like you have, okay, this person's time, this person's time, this person's time. Great. You know, now we have a hundred hours a day to get things done. Well, I can get a lot more done in a hundred hours a day than I can in 12 hours a day. And so you have to think of it as kind of like, I'll leave you with this last analogy, but it's thinking about like you're building a sports team, like a football team, like you're not going to win the super bowl by yourself because you physically cannot. It's the same thing with a business. If you want to grow past 50, 100k a month, you physically will not be able to do all of that work. And you have to hire people who are good at their specific job to get you there. Right? And so just like the team analogy, you have to hire a linebacker, a quarterback, you know, wide receiver. You have to hire these people so then they can do their job very well. Like, you can't be the quarterback, throw it to yourself, catch it, and then also block all the people by yourself, like it's not going to work.
