Why This One Thing Is Keeping Your From Being Successful

A coach argues that limiting beliefs make people sabotage themselves and find reasons to fail. Raise your standards, accept responsibility for your results, and stop blaming circumstances for the skill gaps that are actually holding you back.

What's going on, guys? This is going to be kind of a rant a little bit. I don't have a specific structure, so I'm just going to kind of talk about what we've been seeing recently and kind of what we've been noticing within, like me coaching our students and kind of what we've been seeing. And so in this video, I kind of want to talk about why people self sabotage and why they're not closer to their, to their original goals. And one of the biggest things that I see is that people find what they're looking for. And so what I mean by that is they basically look for a reason to not be successful. And so then they find that reason and then they're not successful. And so I really think it's just something that holds so many people back because if you find something or you're looking for something, you're gonna find it, right? And so it's kind of like if you're about to buy a new car, or let's say you buy a new car, you buy a new car and then everywhere you look you see that car. Now you didn't see it before because you weren't really looking for it, right? But now that you're looking for it, you see it everywhere that you go. And this is the same way our beliefs shape our actions and shape the way that we think about things. And so if we believe that we're not going to be successful, or you know, this program is not going to work for us, or something's not going to work for us, or this won't work for my type of business, or this won't work for my area and where I live, then you're going to find a reason for that to make work, or you're going to find a reason for that to be, be the truth at the end of the day. And it's kind of like if you're looking for negativity in the world, you're going to find negativity in the world. If you're looking for positivity in the world, you're going to find positivity. If you're looking for people who are successful, you're going to find those. If you're looking for people who are unsuccessful, you're going to find those people. And I just think a lot of times we get in our own head, we self sabotage because we don't believe that we can be successful or we have some sort of limiting belief around ourselves that we can't be who we say we want to be. And there's some magical reason why we can't be successful. I was watching one of Hormozi's recent videos, and it really stood true for my experiences and people that I've worked with and some of the people that I've worked with. Because at the end of the day, I think one of the things that he said was if you don't want to be successful, you'll find a way to make that work, and you'll find a way for that to be the truth. And you can either be right or you can be rich. And it's the same thing with, like. I think he used the example of like, weight loss clients or something like that, where it's like, oh, I have this, you know, specific weight loss issue, or I have, you know, this thyroid disease, or I have this, you know, I can't lose weight, right? I can't do X, Y and Z. And the truth is, like, those people can lose weight because if you just eat less than you're burning and you're in a calorie deficit, then you're going to lose weight. It's the same thing with business. If you talk to enough people who are your ideal client, a percentage of those people will turn into clients, period. Like, there's no if, ands, or buts about it. If you talk to enough people who you can help, who's in your ideal market, who is your ideal customer, you talk to enough of those people, it is inevitable that you will close a deal. That's just how it is. And I think sometimes we just get in our heads about things and we think that. I don't know, I just think that we. We. I think that we just get in our own way because we want to believe that it's not like we can't be successful or we want to find a reason to make ourselves feel better about not being successful. Because when you really look at it, and this is something that I've had to do in my own life recently too, is like, when you really look at it, the reason we're not successful is really just cause we're not good enough. And that's a really hard pill to swallow for me. It's a hard pill to swallow for our clients. It's a hard pill for anybody to swallow is like, sometimes we're just not good enough. Like, all of us just need to be better, right? Or like, we're just not good enough at a specific skill at the end of the day. And I think we. We would Rather make ourselves feel better by saying that, you know, there's some external thing that is outside of our control that's keeping us from being successful, when in reality it's not. It's us, right? We're just not good enough. And the other thing, too, is I think we just don't have high enough standards for ourself and for the people around us. This is something that I'm going through right now transparently, where I have allowed actions from the people around me that are not at the standard that I should have them at. And the only reason that the people around me are at these or taking these actions or performing this way is because I didn't set the bar high enough, which is my fault. And one of the interesting things I think about running a business is, like, all of the wins are your teams. All the wins go to your team. But then all of the blame and all of the problems fall on you. So, like, you become responsible for all of the problems in. In the business, whether or not you actually did the thing or not. So, like, if one of my team members messes up, that's on me, right? If they say something to a prospect or say something to a lead or say something to a client, like, ultimately, it's my fault at the end of the day, and whether I had anything to do with it or not, it's my fault. So I think it's raising the standards. And then I also just think it's. It's looking for reasons to be successful as opposed to finding reasons why you can't be successful. Because at the end of the day, everybody can be successful. And some people start further back from the starting line than other people, for sure, 100%. But at the end of the day, I think you have to. If you start further back, you just have to realize you're gonna have to work a lot harder than everyone else at one thing or another. Like, there's gonna be some things you're really good at, and then there's gonna be some things that you need to work a lot harder, like 10 times harder than other people to get to at least the standard of what's accepted. And a lot of people don't want to think that. They just want to say, like, hey, I. I'm disadvantaged. I have this problem. I have this issue. When in reality, it's like, yeah, I mean, life's not fair sometimes. Like, it just isn't. I don't know what to say. Like, there's stuff that I have to work 10 times harder at than other people. And there's things that come easy to other people that don't come easy to me that I have to work way harder at. Just like everyone has some sort of disadvantage, you're gonna have to work way harder at. So to wrap this rant up, I don't know if you gu like these videos. If you do, comment below. If you don't, I won't do any more of them. So I'm just testing this format out where I just rant on things that are coming to my mind and hopefully you guys like it. But anyways, let me know if you guys need anything and we will see you in the next video.
