A leader who rejects feedback rejects growth. Feedback is not an attack, it's insight.

Femi Lazarus argues that leaders who reject feedback lack self-awareness and create toxic environments. Ego-driven leaders block high performers and stall growth. Real leadership means inviting candid input and choosing the organization's vision over protecting your pride.

A leader that is not self-aware cannot deal with feedbacks. And once you can't deal with feedbacks, you're going to surround yourself with psychopaths, praise singers, those who are always saying you have done everything well. You do need honest feedbacks. You really need to let your team know that there's no consequence for telling the truth. It means you have to say it, not like, please talk to me, what do you think we are not getting right? And say, okay, sir, are you sure I should talk? Say yes, go ahead and talk. I say, sir, number one, I think we can do— because you see, I'm trying my best as a leader, so, and then when I put everything in place and people should do, and then, you see, the other time I did that Hey, they asked you, you said they should talk. When you are now done, I say, please, what's number 2? For where? The reason you respond to feedback that way is because you feel it attacks you. The goal of feedback is not an attack. Every feedback is an opportunity for improvement. Every feedback. And once you can't take feedback, you can't grow. You can't grow. You won't scale. Would you rather keep— what do you want to— what, what are you preserving? Your pride? Your ego or the vision of the organization? You know, there's a way your mindset will be as a leader that if somebody who is excellent is coming to the organization, you block them out because you feel their presence threatens what you do. It means you are not even about the vision. You're about you. That's not even leadership. That's not leadership. And one of the signs that you have esteem issues as a leader is that you avoid meetings. You avoid giving your team the right information they need to work. You hoard information so it can make you look important. Get the full message on Femi Lazarus Digital Library app today.
