Femi Lazarus argues that politicians' real power isn't theft but conditioning citizens to accept mediocrity. Broken roads, neglected schools, and fuel shortages train people to expect failure and think small. Breaking that cycle requires deliberate, sustained conditioning, not a single motivational speech.

The greatest evil politicians do to you is not just stealing. The greatest evil they do to you is not stealing, it's conditioning. When a road that can take 3 months is done in 3 years, you're conditioned to expect things to be slow. When things— a pothole that should be filled is not filled, you are conditioned to expect that this is it. So you cannot be a threat in the future because we have conditioned your past. Is the reason why most of the promises they give about the future has to do with the areas they're conditioning you. Road, schools, hospitals, not policies, because you're not expected to know much about it. Food, cost of fuel, price of rice. They tell you what is meant for the peasant. That's the greatest evil they do to you, is the condition. And that's the greatest evil your environment does to you, is condition. It conditions you to think, and once you're conditioned to think, that conditions person become the quality of the person. So sometimes people have been conditioned to think small and they hear one sermon, I want to think big. Doesn't work. You also need another conditioning. You wipe out conditioning with conditioning.
