In this monologue from the Declassified Podcast with Men, the speaker (SPEAKER A) narrates a disturbing experience that occurred over twelve years ago at a hotel during a Christian event. He describes being introduced to a respected older man who quickly gave him access to an inner circle, leading to a night in a hotel room where multiple men were present, clothing was minimal, and boundaries were blurred. The speaker recounts being dragged out of bed in the middle of the night, feeling unsafe, and reflecting on the need to protect young men (the "boy child") from such exploitative situations. The narrative emphasizes vulnerability, the breach of trust, and the lasting mental health impact, aligning with the podcast’s focus on men’s mental health and the importance of safeguarding younger men in similar contexts.

Middle of the night, I just woke up. Bros was dragging my man Udo. He was serious. As I woke up like this, I woke up like Abejoye. When I've been with, you know, somebody that was well respected, highly respected, respected by those that we respect, gained interest in me as a very young man. And he said, oh, I like you, you're very creative, you're very this, oh, head this, head that for me. So when I come around, you can give reports. And I'm like, okay. And then there's this event that is like the peak of what we used to do then. And, you know, I got there and he exposed me to so much access so fast. I'm like, and this guy is like, now our own ecosystem was like number 2, right? And then we got to the hotel at night and then, you know, but I did a photo shoot then of myself. And the pictures were so lovely. I put the pictures on his phone because he had a very much bigger phone. So what I'm saying is over 12 years ago. And so I had sent my images to his phone and we got to the hotel room. He was fantasizing. And I got another guy. I met another guy in the room. You know, the guy you met in the room, clothes on or clothes off? Clothes off, of course. Okay, but because I went to a body— look at guys thing. Yeah, you won't feel freak out if you walked into my room and I have only my briefs on. It's just— of course, but the guys had a gimme attitude. Like, time came for us to shower, you know, I just jumped into the bathroom and it was all these bathrooms with clear, clear glass. I didn't know I was turning on kuon. 12 years ago, when it was time for us to sleep, Then he told me, ah, you, um, Yemi, you can't, you can't stay here with us, so, um, the bed is too small. Ah, we could manage this. No, it's not even manage, there's space. If we slept on that same bed, 3 of us, and spread like this, will not touch. And then so they got me a big room, same size, same everything, upstairs. And then night went, the following morning I went downstairs The other guy had gone. And then we went around day 2 for a Christian event, o. Day 2 went like that, and then we got back to the hotel room and it was time for us to sleep. So normal, but that night, because me, normal, I would have taken off everything, that night I just remain my boxers. So middle of the night, I just woke up. Bros was dragging my man, odo. Man, it was not— it was dragging. It was serious. As I woke up like this, I woke up like Abejuoye. Protect the boy child. Protect the guys. I woke up like this.
