In this sermon, Apostle Femi Lazarus confronts a series of deep theological questions that many believers grapple with, ranging from the fate of babies, the unborn, and unreached peoples to the nature of heaven, hell, and the rapture. He argues that the modern surge in knowledge is prompting believers to de‑construct traditional teachings, citing concerns about biblical passages on slavery, women’s roles, and cultural practices. Lazarus challenges the audience to seek objective truth, distinguishing it from subjective personal belief, and urges a rigorous apologetic approach to prove core Christian claims such as the resurrection, the second coming, and eternal destiny. Throughout, he uses vivid metaphors of spiritual warfare and discouragement, emphasizing perseverance. The talk concludes with a promotional call to the Femi Lazarus Digital Library, positioning it as a resource for kingdom‑mindset leadership and continued spiritual growth.

We, we are in a fight. And we are not just in a fight, we have been enlisted to fight at the time that it is nighttime, meaning that most of the people we have historical reference to still fought slightly during the day. So it means some of us will have to fight even with the highest level of discouragement, but keep on wielding the sword. If you are introduced to Christianity and you are not introduced to this dimension You're still playing. The fact that you get to the point that your faith may fail— let me give you an illustration. The closer Jesus got to Calvary, the fewer the men that followed him.
Why?
Discouragement. By the time he was apprehended that night and Peter brought out his sword and cut the guy's ears, and Jesus put it back. So all the time he was saying that I can never leave or forsake you, his trust was in his sword. Once he saw that, ah, I thought people's head will roll today, so that's why I'll be coming it back. He ran. He so ran that a girl met him and said, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, Bro P, I know you now. Ah, you, were you not the one that went to buy fish? I say, me? With who? If I know Jesus, man, bend. In, in like manner, as we approach the coming of Jesus, you'll be offended at him. And I said, one of the realities of the last days is that the Bible said knowledge will increase. And you will almost think that this knowledge necessarily is a good news. The idea of this knowledge is that people will get to the point where they begin to deconstruct, at least they, all the things they've had, Sunday school, the things church said, the stories They now start finding out the truth. If it's not happening to you, it will happen. You start finding out many things and start— you can even— I mean, I saw a young girl, very young girl, probably 12 or thereabout, asking questions. Online and said that I have issues with this Bible because it seems like the Bible supports slave trade. And we have to believe and agree that slavery is injustice. If truly the word of God— God gives us dominion, Genesis 1:26, and said, have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, over every creeping thing that creeps upon. He didn't tell us to have dominion over men. If the same Bible now says slaves obey your masters, it looks like something is not adding up. You may even get to the point you start finding out, hold on a minute, women need emancipation. No more years of subjugation and being subdued by some religious ideology. You know, now they tell people that are getting married, they say, will you love and obey? Obey who? Obey what? Because it is the era of knowledge, and then we are now going to have people add something to the truth. They're going to call it my truth, your truth, my truth. But the one that the Bible said will set free is the truth. What's the truth? The truth is what is written in the word. So knowledge begins to increase, people start asking questions like I asked the other time. So are you trying to tell me In case you've asked that question, that only Christians in this life are going to heaven, of all the billions of people. Hold on a minute. So what about in 15-something or 13-something, where there was no technology, where people in Africa did not even hear anything about Jesus? And those ones die. Where are they going? Because even till now, there are those that the gospel has still not reached them. They are, they are unreached tribes. Are you aware? What happens to them? It doesn't matter what you feel, that you're a Christian, you're on fire, you are privileged. What if you were born in Qatar to a Qatari family, wealthy billionaires in dollars, but you're Muslim? How did you become a Christian? For most of us seated, your parents were. So we start asking questions. What if your father was an Abalise and you were born and established in that faith? What's God gonna do with the rest of the world? Are they going to die and go to hellfire? What is hellfire like? Is it going to be a place where people are crying and weeping, mourning afternoon and night? If that's the punishment for sinners, and every sinner should receive a just punishment because they rejected Christ, what about those who are now in hellfire since 15-something? They've been in fire for over 1,000 years, and the one who are going to be in hellfire tomorrow, same sin. Why some people longer? Is hellfire the place where the fire will keep burning and burning and burning and burning and burning? Is hell a place or a person? Yes. Questions. What happens to babies? If babies die, where do they go? If pregnancies are lost, are they existing beings or just materials or matter? Where do they go? Will we ever see our lost loved ones again? Who knows exactly what happens after death? Questions. And to every question is trying to bring you to knowledge. Now the problem with that is that questions might be genuine, but if the knowledge is false, it destroys your theology, destroys your orientation. How many Christians can tell us precisely? There are debates everywhere. Heaven is a place with mansions. There are no mansions in heaven. Jesus is the building. Many questions. No, I'm just telling you some of the existing debates. Jesus said, my Father's house, um, there are many mansions there. I go to prepare a place for you. I know some people don't know he was talking about mansions, because how do you say house and say mansions in house? The New Jerusalem is going to descend like a bride from heaven. The streets are paved with gold. When people die, are they in heaven? If they're Christians, where do they go? Questions. When are we going to heaven? This rapture, rapture, rapture that they've been talking about, is it true? What's the proof that Jesus will ever come back? Because they've been saying this for over 2,000 years. The last days began from the day of Pentecost. Joel 2:28 began from the day of Pentecost. Peter said in Acts 2 that today you see fulfillment of what was said by Joel. 2,000 years. 2,000 years. How many years did Noah cry about the flood before water came? How many years? So we— and one of the things that makes this quite tough is that— look at this— science is based on facts. Christianity is based on what? Faith. Doesn't make sense. We believe. Hold on a minute, let me show you a scripture. You've seen it, but let's look at it another way. Hebrews 11 from verse 1. I look forward to the time where I'm going to have a roundtable conversation here in service, in our services, with scientists who have evidences against the Bible in terms of the inconsistencies. We want to have conversation with people who have been there. You've read books and there are things about the Bible you don't think this is making sense. Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. What's that? Looks like a way you are trying to escape reality. I give you a goat and I say only the righteous can see it. Evidence of things not seen. Faith is absolute trust in God even when it doesn't make sense. Look at it. After Jesus died and resurrected, he came into the room where the disciples were gathered. And saw them together, spoke with them. They recognized him as Christ. And it was— what was this our friend's name? Thomas. That said, except I thrust my hands to the holes of your hands and to your side, say, I'm not going to believe. Look at it, all right? He said, except I shall see in his hands the print of the nail and put my finger into the print of the nails and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe. And after 8 days, again his disciples were with him, and Thomas was with them. He was with them, but his faith was failing. You see that his faith was failing. Then Jesus— then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and he stood in the midst and said, peace be unto you. Hold on, no, he didn't knock. He just entered. Is that not enough? Just appeared. You know what they call disappear? When we're growing up, we watch all those Yoruba films and you just disappear, but they are still seeing you. So Jesus just appeared in their midst. That ought to be enough proof. But look at— then he said to Thomas, reach hither thy finger. So when Thomas said, except I put my hand to the holes of his hand, nobody needed to gossip and tell Jesus.
He heard.
He heard him. And behold my hands, and reach either thine hand and thrust to my side, and be not faithless but believing. The next verse. And Thomas answered and said unto him, my Lord and my God. And Jesus said unto him, Thomas, thou hast seen me, Thou hast believed. Hold on. Number 1, Jesus wasn't threatened by the fact that Thomas needed proof. God is not threatened by your questions. He wasn't threatened. He didn't come and start raking for him and say, ah, Thomas, Thomas, where are you? Give me that cutlass. After all I've done for you, I died for you, they flogged me for you, you say you don't believe in me? It's time for you to die your own death. Even your unbelief doesn't threaten him. He is who he is. Your faith doesn't make him more, your unbelief doesn't make him less. He is the I AM THAT I AM. So look at it. He said, Thomas, you, you've seen me now. You've seen the holes, you've seen the injury on my side.
You believe.
He said, but blessed are they that have not seen yet believe. That's this generation of church. What's the Do you know what you believe? You are putting your entire life on the fact that somebody they told you came many years ago, came. Somebody they told you died, died. And they told you with all this your brain, they told you, you sat down, they were preaching to you, I'm telling you that he rose for you on the third day. You cut all your degree in school, you carried it and believe that nonsense. What is the proof that this thing is true? What if you die tomorrow and it's just endless darkness? What's your proof? Because now we have to investigate the gospel you received. What's your proof that Christianity is real? And what's your proof that Jesus is the only way? Do you even believe that? What does that even mean? Are you still going to continue hanging all this your life on the fact that they told you that one guy came who died at 33 and a half years old, and they told you he died and arose? Who does that? How can one person die and one person rose from the dead, then all of us will now have to live for that one person? Is that not selfishness? Think about it. You can collect your own life back. I'm trying to re-echo the things you've heard from the devil, in case you've heard certain things. So let's ask questions now. What's the proof that the gospel is true? You meet an atheist now who is so vast— because the reason why some Christians' faith is still standing is because they've not met superior argument. Okay, let's scatter it for the next few minutes. Their faith is hanging on the fact that our parents told us this and that's that, not the God they have met, not a proof. What's the proof that you are even saved? What's your hope of eternal life? If you die now, what assurance do you have that you are going to heaven? Where is heaven? Who told you it is real? You've dreamt about it. How many rubbish have you dreamt about? That doesn't exist. What's the proof that heaven and hell is a reality? Now I need answers. You're going to give me your proof, and I'm going to play the devil's advocate tonight. What's your proof? You want to give me answers? Anybody? Praise God. Praise God.
Amen. Thank you so much for this topic and this opportunity.
It means so much to me.
So before you start to talk about anything, the first thing you have to understand is truth. There are two types of truth, which is subjective truth and objective truth. Subjective truth means your truth. So you can come now and say, I I feel this color is gray. I feel this color is blue. That is what your own truth means. You can define your gender as I feel I am 3 genders. That is your truth. But there is also objective truth. This is the one you bring into argument. You don't bring how you feel or what you think is your own truth. You bring objective truth into—
amen, amen.
So objective truth is that when I throw a ball up, that ball comes down at 9.8 meters per second squared. It's irrespective of how you feel. Are we together? It's irrespective of how you feel.
