Reverend Femi Lazarus calls believers back to their first love for Jesus, using Revelation 2:4 and the church at Ephesus as his text. He warns that modern Christianity has become nominal and superficial, stripped of the joy and transformation that mark genuine conversion. Lazarus traces spiritual decline to distorted gospel messages, weak community, and false teaching, ending with an altar call for repentance and fresh fire from the Holy Spirit.
Chapters
Father, we ask that you will awaken love in us again. You quicken us back to what we used to have with you. You will stir a sound of revival amongst us. And we will see your fire again. We give you all the praise in Jesus' mighty name. Let's give Jesus a big hand. You may please, please be seated. Um, good morning, church. God bless you. Let's turn our Bibles quickly to the book of Revelation chapter number 2. Just going to get straight on it because we're already behind schedule. We've had good use of our time this morning, am I correct? Revelation chapter number 2. Um, this is the first church that Jesus is sending a letter to, and these churches were positioned somewhere around Asia Minor. And this is the letter to the church at Ephesus. So let's start from verse 1. So we can read. To the angel of the church of Ephesus write, these things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks. I know thy works and thy labor and thy patience. And how thou cannot bear them that are evil, and how thou hast tried them which say they are apostles and are not, and hast found them liars, and hast borne and hast patience, and for my name's sake hast labored and hast not fainted. Nevertheless, I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. Now go back to verse 4, and let's read verse 4 in Good News, um, translation. But this is what I have against you: you do not love me now as you did first. Now this is Jesus. And the reason why we have to take what he's saying seriously is because the one who is speaking is the one who knows. The one who is speaking is the one who knows our frame. He knows our core. He doesn't need inquiry to know about you. He's the God of all flesh. He knows you down to every hidden part of your life. And he started that statement by commending— I mean, verse 4 will almost make no sense if you look at the commendations that's gone ahead. How do you say someone has labored? How do you talk about the fact that you have judged falsehood? How do you talk about the fact that you have tried them who claim to be apostles and are not? How do you talk about the fact that you have even born? And he said, despite that, there is something missing. He didn't say you no longer love. He said, not like you used to. So God is simply saying, I miss what we used to have. A very good, um, example of this is marriage. It is very possible to celebrate from one anniversary to another and wear same clothes and wear, you know, go out places, take pictures and all those things. And yet the both people know we no longer have what we used to have. Just know the old is still holding them, but the strings connecting the two hearts is broken. Same way a guy can like a girl, he'll call in the morning just to check up on you. He call in the afternoon, I believe your work is going well, right? Stay calm, all will be well. Call at night just to hear your voice. Hope your day went well. And the girl is enjoying every bit of that. If she sneezes, he can almost buy a pharmacy. And it looks as though there's a pattern that as soon as many people get what they want they no longer want what they get, and they just switch. And you will never think when the guy was asking the girl out that a day will ever come in their union that the girl will say, do you still love me? You, you never think so, but then life happens, and two people who used to be so much into each other may walk past each other like they've never met before. But I don't want to assume that the letter to the church at Ephesus is what you need this morning. You see, the reason is because you can only tell the one who has a first love to go back to the first love. Unfortunately, unfortunately, many believers got born again in an atmosphere where they don't even have an idea of what that first love means. So you can preach from morning till evening, and it's like you speaking Chinese, and the fellow is wondering, this is what they told me that a Christian should look like. I, I've seen cases where they're preaching to a believer and in the same breath they are telling the believer, you don't have to drop your cigarette. And you see the wrong doctrine, as if it will fall off by itself. So people are born again in climes where they were not introduced to anything depth about God, and they go on and on with their life. And the danger of such existence is that there's no reference point. There's nothing to reference them to, nothing else. I wrote a few things down, I want to call your attention to them. There is the joy and passion that comes with being born again that makes the believer want to go any extent for the one who has saved him. There is something called the joy of salvation, that being born again is not just about confessing Jesus as your Lord and Savior and then go back to your life as you used to have it. In Galatians 2:20, Paul made a very remarkable statement. He said, I've been crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live Start King James translation. Look at this. I've been crucified. Now I'm crucified with Christ. Nevertheless, I live yet not I, but Christ liveth in who?
In me.
And the life which I now live in the flesh, I live by the faith of the Son of God who loved me and gave himself for me. That's the life of the new man. It It is exchanged life. Civilization doesn't change the quality of that life. It may affect the quality of the message from the church, but it shouldn't affect— it can't affect the quality of that life. There is a, there is a, there is a— you see, anywhere there is genuine affection. It comes with a package of commitment. You cannot meet Jesus, the Jesus of the Bible, and not ask what Paul asks: what do you want me to do? Turn your Bibles there, look at it. Look at the conversion of Saul, Acts of the Apostles chapter number 9. Acts 9 from verse 9, look at it. And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter, against disciples of the Lord, who went to the high priest, yes, and desired of him letters to Damascus and to the synagogues, if he found— that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem. As he journeyed and came near Damascus, and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven. And he fell to the earth. And he heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? And he said, Who art thou? And he said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest. It is hard for thee to kick against the pricks. And he, trembling and astonished, said, Lord, what will you have me to do. If you encounter the true Jesus, you want to follow him all the way. You want to look at the story in Luke chapter number 18 when Jesus met the man called blind Bartimaeus. And Jesus met him, he told him, go thy way. But the Bible said instead he followed Jesus. Salvation is not just mere confession. Oh, I confess Jesus as my Lord and Savior. And you look at the person the next week, the week after, and month after, and there is no difference between when the person was in the world and now.
The capacity is the same, the thoughts, everything the person does is still the same. It doesn't work. That's not the true Jesus.
When you meet the Jesus of the Bible, it changes your life. The woman at the well of Samaria had one encounter and she couldn't stop talking about him. It makes you want to tell the whole world. The reason why you have not— you are not passionate about him is because you have not met him. When you meet him He ravishes your heart with love. That's the Jesus of the Bible. So there is the first love that many people are not even acquainted with. And if you are doing your Christian work, you're struggling, you're trying to be in tune with God, and it's difficult when they talk about revival, talk about prayer. You look at your life, you don't even have a moment you can refer to in your life that you were born in. You look at your life, you don't have a moment that you can't trace a season in your life that you couldn't sleep without evangelizing. You don't have, you don't have a moment in your life that you just want to pray. You're looking for where believers are gathered, you just want to join them. You don't have a moment because the, the, the, the kind of Jesus we are introducing this generation to— there will be trouble. The Christianity where if there's no bus, they won't show up in church, and if the ACs are not cool enough, they will not come to your church again. And if the pastor say what they don't like, they'll go to another place and start afresh. The day those ones tell them what they don't like, they go to another place and then start afresh again. And you look at believers, they have disjointed curriculums that built their lives. They don't have a form. When I gave my life to Christ, I just returned from a night party. And that night I cried, because there is something about that light entering into your soul.
You've never known love like that. That's your first introduction to real life. Having encountered that life, you want all men saved. You want to go all the way. In case anyone has lied to you that you should just continue the way you are, I have come to tell told you today, they lied. Something is missing in your curriculum.
It's called the first love.
Something is missing. If you don't have a moment you can trace back to, like, all you want to do is stay in the place of prayer— you may not be there now, but did you have it? Do you have it?
Is there a foundation beneath that building? Psalms 11:3 says something very crucial. Now if the foundation be destroyed, what shall the righteous do? Um, the, the reason why God don't have things he can anchor us on is because many of us, our faith doesn't have depth. Everyone that met the Jesus of the Bible, their life changed.
You can't—
listen, listen, listen, listen— you cannot meet the Jesus of the Bible and live double standard life.
There is something about the light from his presence that— listen, it makes you hate sin. It is not one of those things you are thinking, maybe I can do this. You, you, you, you grow disdain for sin. You, you—
it repulses you.
You want to stay in his presence. You are, you are not trying not to. That's what real encounter does. It is a light that breaks into your system. It didn't—
listen, it didn't bring— it didn't quicken you from the dead to make you faint. It brought you from death into life.
So you are not to look like dead but asleep.
You came alive in him. That's salvation. That's salvation. I was in Kano when we went for Kano yearly apostolic meeting. And while we're driving, I was looking at the distance I used to trek to go to church. I was asking myself, really, you trek this distance, 1 hour 30 minutes, to go to church to learn God's word and come back? Is there still something in us that can go all the way for Jesus? You see, you can still be hanging around the church, you can still be hanging around the work, you can even be hanging around preaching, you can hang around walking of miracles. All those things can still happen. The dangerous thing about a fire that is dying is that it's still hot. So every once in a while you can still touch something with it and say it's still there, but it's dying. There is what your first love ought to look like. Look at the event that took place in Acts of the Apostles chapter number 2. When the disciples of Jesus gathered together in one accord on the day of Pentecost, and as they were praying, Bible says that a sound filled the room where they were standing, and it sat upon them, clothing tongues of fire, and they all began to speak in other tongues as the Holy Ghost gave them utterance. And that day Peter stood defending the faith, having been accused that they were drunk, and said, this was that which was prophesied by Joel the prophet, saying, I'll pour out my spirit upon all flesh, your sons and daughters, will prophesy. All those who heard that message believed, and when they believed, they got baptized and became part of the church. And you begin to look at the next event that began to take place. They all began to share all things in common, because there is something about the life of Christ that delivers you from you.
Yes, sir.
That's what real Christianity should look like. That is what a new, a real believer should look like.
How?
Listen, let me give you this illustration. Imagine, um, okay, where is your wife? Both of you should come. All right, um, Nakale and his wife. So imagine these two guys Got married. Husband, please come. And wife. And from get-go of the marriage, they say, all right, you guys going for honeymoon? Take time, I'll go for honeymoon. Say no, we don't need honeymoon. I love her as Christ loves the church. And they come together, he's not passionate about her. He's not concerned. They just look at each other, say, hey, how you doing, bro? Say, I'm good. Yeah, yeah, I'm good. That home will be a disaster. Why? Because when trouble comes, when the storm come, there is no season in the marriage you can refer them to where the love was hot. Many believers are doing marriage with Christ that has no season of honeymoon. There's no reference in your walk with Christ, no reference. You've been born again several years, but there's no reference of a season that you can say this is a love you couldn't control with Christ. That's the reason why all that we say keep flying over your head. Because there's no reference. Listen, if you don't have first love, the beautiful thing is that water can turn to wine today. Today, Jesus can introduce you to what being in love with him looks like. He can take away the heart of stone and give you the heart of flesh. You think it is normal to manage sin. When it comes, you will hate it. You think it is normal that, you see, a believer is supposed to be struggling one thing or the other till his light invades your system and you discover that the things you used to have appetite for, you no longer love them.
It changed you completely inside out.
How shall we that are dead to sin live any longer therein? Reverend Femi Lazarus, Romans chapter number 6, let's read verse 1 and 2. Romans 6: What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Look at verse 2: God forbid! How shall we that are dead to sin live any longer therein? Verse 3. Now know ye not that so many of us were baptized into Jesus Christ, were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by the baptism into his death, that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so also we should walk in what? Newness of life. It is not a partially new life, it is a completely new life. 2 Corinthians 5:17. If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature. All things are passed away, and behold, all things are what?
New.
Say it loud and clear. All things are new. Come on, say it one more time.
All things are new.
Our Christianity, we could— we keep looking strange until you have encountered the Jesus we encountered. We look like fools.
Have you seen people call you fools for standing for Jesus?
There are people who look at you now and believe in their mind— that's what they believe in their mind right now— that if there's anybody who is seated in any church right now around the world, the person must be a fool. Have you loved someone foolishly before? That you were doing foolish stuff? Talk to me now, huh? I can track for you. I can. What else? Some of you ladies cooked. You make vegetable, make all those things and take it to the place. You are remembering, have you? They say, just take it down, say, you know, if you were not ashamed to be a fool for love, how then now are you ashamed of the Gospel of Christ? It is the power of God unto salvation. Some of you no longer like to be identified with believers, and they call you SU. Say, don't call me that name. You, you want to be in between where nobody can confuse your stand. Like, you want to roll with the world and still rap with the church. You get what I mean? Like, someone will understand the perfect blend. You call it wisdom. He says you are diluted. Neither hot nor cold, it's not wisdom. The real Christian life is a distinct life. Distinct. Distinct life. I remember years back, got some guys to pray with me. We're trusting God for a revival somewhere in Ghana, and we've been fasting. I can't remember again, maybe 7 days dry. And while we were, we were in a prayer— God have mercy— we're in a prayer meeting, joining hands. They just came to touch one of the guys. Somebody, one funny person just came to whisper and say, your baby, your baby's around, your baby, your baby don't come.
So we were praying, you get what I'm saying? We've been fasting for days, no food.
Then the guy just removed his hand and just hit somebody else and then left. And he will camp with that girl for another 3 days.
Why?
Because there's no foundation. It matters the gospel you received. Let me tell you why it matters. 1 Corinthians chapter number 15. Let's start the reading from verse 1. Moreover, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also you have received, and wherein ye stand, by which also you are saved. So it is the gospel you I preach to you, that you will receive. Is that okay? And it is in that gospel that you what? Stand. So it matters, the gospel. It is by that gospel that you are saved. If they preach the gospel of anything goes to you, you live your life as anything goes. And it is until the coming of Jesus before many believers will understand that they were virgins without oils. Many will look for the pastors who lie to them, who give them the impression that just continue doing what you ought to do, just continue. How do you tell a believer that just continue the way you are? As long as you've confessed him, all is well. All is not well. You know a tree by the fruit, and fruits are always vivid. You bear fruit. If truly Christ is in you, it shows with the work of righteousness that you do. We have to go back to the days where being a Christian means being a Christian indeed, not Christians with capacity for dangerous stuff. And unfortunately now, the, the line is so blurry that even if you introduce yourself as a pastor, you have to be double-checked. How many people can take their female children, daughters, now and say, I hand you over to this pastor, please pastor? The girl will get pregnant aborted for, get pregnant, aborted for, and the fellow will still have the liberty to still preach. We have found ways to demonically combine compromise and we call it grace. The silence of God is not grace, it's judgment. The devil doesn't keep secrets for anyone. He's waiting for the time that your fall will have economic value. Be careful. Don't lay the foundation of your Christian works on the rubbish. Let me quickly take you into some of the things that I want to show you today. Are you still here? What has changed in this generation that people get born again and you never see them born or become zealous for the sake of the gospel. Why does it look like the blood that saved the fathers was diluted in this generation? That's the question. I show you 3 reasons. Number 1, the kind of gospel they are hearing, the kind of message they are listening to. Number 2, the community where they find themselves.
And sometimes even the community of faith— unfortunately, it is possible. Listen what I'm saying. It is possible to go to a church that after service, girls who hook up with other guys were also in service, and they will do it conveniently. What kind of message did they hear? What kind of message makes you live with someone you are not married to and both of you will hold hands and show up in church and nothing burns? That is not grace, that's perversion.
We've got to the point where we now believe that in as much as you're going to marry the person, sleep with each other, it doesn't matter. That's not the gospel of Christ. That's not the gospel of Christ. And we keep blurring the lines, we keep blurring the lines. Now boys want to look like girls and they still attend churches. You wonder what's going on. And the reason why we are raising the alarm now is that if the church doesn't wake up, soon you will not be able to tell the difference between the clubhouse and the church.
We are allowing all forms of infiltration, all forms of perversion, all forms of lie. You see, it won't happen in one day. It's little compromise, gradual, and just coming. The devil is shifting the goalposts till you can't tell it's a pitch anymore. I've seen it. I've seen the dangers coming. I've seen how they are trying to bully the church and bully pastors into compromise. I've seen it. It looks like you are kind, it looks like you are the man of the people, till you know you sold them out for acceptance.
I prefer to be hated, and when Jesus come, you thank God that even though I don't like Pastor, but he told us the truth and he helped our home.
Yes, sir. Yes, sir.
We must wake up. The Christianity where a born-again Christian is the same thing as the one who never met Christ. If you look at them, their appearance, what they do, what they listen to, what they talk about, what they practice is the same. What changed when you receive Christ?
What have you left for the sake of Christ? Paul, speaking to the Philippians, says, I count all things but dongs for the excellency of Christ. All things, all things but dong. So we need community of faith where people inspire each other to pray. That's how we grew.
That's how we grew. That's how we grew. Listen to what I'm saying here. Anybody that you meet who doesn't inspire you to pray, stop meeting the person.
Is there anybody here with some shakeré or something like that? Where are those things we used to pray? Please come. Thank you. Bring it. That's how we grew. When you hear my brothers and you go to their house and you start hearing this sound, you know somebody is praying.
You know somebody is kabashi. Are you feeling what I'm saying here? That's how we grew. And when you meet each other, what you are saying is, can we do 1 hour? Let's do the next 1 hour. That's how we grew. Our fire may not be loud, but we saw someone who has it, and as we were sharing flames Something was sparking open. That's how we grew. We are not doing club then come to church together. I will go to club with you, then you come with my church. That won't help you. The coming of Jesus is soon. Darkness is not just covering the world, it's entering the church. And the devil is trying to move the button. And I tell you, on that day many will cry and say they never told us the truth. But you hear it now. You need a strong community of faith that helps you to pray. You don't have a prayer life. Thank God for platform like PPC. At least get up in the morning, call Jesus. Rome wasn't built in a day. Is that okay now? The first 30 minutes, try. Before you know it, your body adjusts. Now you can stand 1 hour by yourself. I mean, look at what the children were saying this morning. How many children have seen their parents pray? How many have fathers who are priests? How many have mothers who are intercessors?
You can't expect from them what you didn't deposit in them. I'm not ashamed of the gospel of Christ.
It is the power of God unto salvation to them that believe.
There is what a Christian needs to look like.
It ought to come.
Fire is a package of conversion.
I'm saying again, fire It's a package of what?
Keep it to her.
Fire is a package of what? You just keep burning. You just— the woman at the well of Samaria wants to tell everyone, I have met Jesus. What kind did you meet?
And your mouth is mute. Nowadays, people even stroll for otakor and stroll, and the packet of cigarette is still in the pocket.
He's not going to drop it.
You will get outside and say, you know what, I gave my life to Christ there. It won't fall off by itself. You must count all things but dung for the sake of Christ. Sit for a moment. Community of faith. Community of faith. If you're a believer who is trying to burn, look for someone who is also trying to burn, or someone who is burning. Iron sharpens iron. And then you start practicing together. People that when you are talking, what you are asking is, what scripture did you study this morning? Not, do you know what that person said about you? What scripture In the area that some of us were struck, I still remember brothers— I can't keep calling names now— and as they are praying, so I have one of our brothers like that. By the time you pass from his house, you'll be hearing tamburi shaking, shaking. You see, listen, by the time you hear that sound, when you get to your own house, you want to sleep, something tells you, ah, give me another 30 minutes. Ah, that's what a healthy community of faith looks like. Listen, nobody can finish this race with the wrong company. You can't. People will ignite you to sin. People will provoke you to sin. People that even if you want to stand for God, they are not making it easy.
Their status is nudity. Everything they— everything they talk about is perversion. Cut yourself off them. Cut yourself off them. You have a race in front of you. Run with patience the race set Cut yourself off them, I'm telling you. Many don't have the form of God. They call the community of faith— they don't have a strong community.
Number 3 reason: different waves of doctrine. If the Bible tells us— Matthew 24 said it, 2 Timothy 3 said it, 1 Timothy 4 said it— that there will be false teachers. If you have not been able to identify a false teacher in your lifetime, there's a sign you're already under the grip of one. That you can hear a person and say, this, this is not Christ. And what makes it false is that major junctions have been perverted. Sometimes my heart beats when I see the Americanization of the Nigerian church. It looks sweet, it looks jumpy. You need to go to see what is happening to the American church. So you can know that what we actually need is a red-hot revival. Is that okay? Not drama, fire. You've seen me hold meetings across America and teach them about the fire revival. I'll tell you, oh yes, miracles are real, but I didn't come here for miracles. I came here so you can be on Fire! I beg you, maybe if Jesus will send that message to someone today, it will not be go back to your first love. It's that you never met me. I was trying to introduce myself to you, but you kept on shouting, I've met him. The same way I've seen people post stuff My eyes sees, say, I was Apostle Femi Lazarus few days ago. Eh? I'm like, me? And everybody will be commenting there, oh, congratulations, oh, congratulations. And that's the way Jesus feel about some Christians. Say, I was— I mean, it was glorious today. And Jesus is saying, which glory? Because I wasn't there. When that light enters into your heart, it breaks you. When you see people receiving Christ and it's that true life, you see them weeping and crying. Their sorrow for sin is godly sorrow. It's, it's melting away the appetite and the nature of flesh. That's what first love looks like. Look at the way David was crying in Psalms chapter number 51. Psalms 51. This was David. This was the psalm he wrote after he slept with Bathsheba. Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness, according to the multitude of thy tender mercies. Blot out my transgressions, wash me thoroughly from my iniquities, and cleanse me from my sin. For I acknowledge my transgressions, and my sins— my sin is ever before me. Against thee, thee only, have I sinned and done this evil in thy sight, that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest. And be clear when thou judgest. Behold, I was shapen in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me. Behold, thou desirest the truth in the inward parts, and in the hidden part that thou shalt make me know wisdom. Purge me with thy hyssop, and I shall be clean. Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. Make me to hear the joy and gladness, that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice. Hide thy face from my sins, Blot out my iniquities, create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from thy presence, and take not thy Holy Spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation, and uphold with me thy free spirit, and I will teach transgressors thy ways, and sinners shall be converted unto thee. Cast me not away from your presence. Take not your right spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of salvation. So there is the joy that comes with salvation. Now, when a sinner receives Christ, he is lightened.
There's a joy you can't explain that comes with being saved.
Salvation is not unto despair, is not unto gloominess. I shared the story with you. We're somewhere, myself and my friends, we went to have a retreat, and we decided for the sake of privacy to use someone's house, a friend of one of my friends, years back. And the father is a multi-billionaire, stay in Lagos on the island. I were in the house with them, and one time he came and said, sorry guys, how are you guys doing it? You guys have been here. Say what? I just say good drinks, speaking jabalabala. He said, you're not ordering for drinks. He said, this is Lekki. There are babes. Say, you guys don't want babes? Say, how are you coping with this?
Your—
there are those who actually legit think that you are suffering as a Christian because you are standing for Christ. They, they, they are trying to imagine what a life looks like. You know, you don't have the contact of different hook-up girls. You don't have the contact of people who are selling squishy. You don't, you don't. What then is the joy of your life about? The joy of the Lord is our strength. There is the joy that we have that you may never know until you meet the Jesus we have met. There is the joy. And until you find that joy, you keep trying to look for it in every medium and everything, and you never get it. You will not get it in girls. You will not get— money won't bring you that joy. It will show you the emptiness of your soul. Listen, having more contracts won't give you that joy. Being lost in your job won't bring that joy. Smoking and drinking yourself away won't give you that joy. That joy is only found in Jesus. There is the peace that comes with that. I want to show you a scripture. I think Romans chapter number 4. Now, Romans chapter number 4. If I'm correct now, very interesting scripture. Oh, thank you. No, sorry, Romans chapter number 5. Romans 5, we'll start the reading from verse 1. Romans 5 from verse 1, look at it. Therefore, being justified by faith, we have what? Peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Look at verse 3: And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also, knowing that tribulations worketh patience. So it's not denying the fact that we don't go through too. We go through, we have our challenges, we have our fresh air, we lose people, we lose things, we mourn, but we glory in tribulation. So when even we mourn, we don't mourn like those who are unbelievers. I truly want you to meet the real Jesus. I'm sorry about the lies anybody told you. You are like someone who got a package, but the most important content in the package seems missing. You met Jesus, but you never had love in your heart for him. Something is wrong somewhere. That when you got born again— that's why we, we— I want to beg us that we should not be in a hurry to throw away the old songs. The things I used to do, I do them no more. The friends I used to keep, I keep them no more. We should, we should not be in a hurry to throw away those songs because the quality of Christians they produced And I've been trusting God to give me the wisdom on how to go about it, because as far as Light Nation is concerned, we must bring back hymns. That's one of the hymns I want to sing. Debbie, come help me. Um, Nkali, come help me. Um, Yemi, come upstage. Have you been to Jesus with the cleansing power? Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb? Give us the lyrics on the— um, and there's this other hymn I also want us to sing after that. Um, yeah, give us the lyrics. Um, I will take it solemnly and, and just reflect, all right, about our lives. And my encounter with Jesus. Oh, thank you, Lord. You can display everything so that people can be able to follow. Um, yes, you can raise it once you're ready.
Have you been to Jesus? For the clean sin part, are you washed in the blood of the Lamb? Are your garments spotless as they white as snow? Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb? Are you washed in the blood, in the soul cleansing blood of the Lamb? Are your garments spotless? Are they white as snow? Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb? Have you been to Jesus? For the sins and past are you washed with the blood of the Lamb. I am garment so blessed I rejoice.
And so are you washed in the blood of the Lamb.
Are you walking daily by the Savior's side? Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb? Do you rest each moment in His peace?
Are you washed in the blood The Lamb.
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb? Sing, are you washed, are you washed in the blood, in the blood. Your soul needs the blood of the Lamb. Your soul needs the blood of the Lamb.
Lift your hands and sing it.
Spotless are the white robes, so are you washed in the blood of the Lamb. Verse 3: When the bridegroom cometh, will your robe be white? When the bridegroom cometh, will your robe be white? Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb? Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb? in the soul cleansing blood of the Lord. I am cleansed forever. I am cleansed forever. My soul, are you washed in the blood? Verse 4: Lay aside the garments that are stained with sin. Lay aside the garments that are stained with sin and be washed in the blood of the Lamb. And be washed in the blood of the Lamb. There's a fountain flowing from the soul of King. There's a fountain flowing from the soul. Oh, be washed in the blood of the Lamb. Oh, be washed in the blood.
We take the last hymn for the day, and I want the media please project the lyrics. Ancient Words. We're going to sing it, and while we do this, we're not just raising the sound. Tell Jesus, heal my soul from the corruption of this age.
English.
Come and live in me truly. I want to experience you truly. I, I don't want to, I don't want to play church.
Jesus is coming soon, and I don't want to leave any one of you behind. That you are in church doesn't mean you are saved. He wants to save you, wants to help you, he wants to bring you out of He wants to equip you. He wants to empower you. He wants to introduce himself to you.
So as we raise that sound, cry your heart to the Lord. Cry your heart to the Lord. Raise it. Oh yes.
Holy words long preserved for our world.
In this world, in this world, there is sound, there is sound with God's own heart.
God's own heart.
Oh, let the ancient word impart, impart, impart truth, change in me.
And change in you. We have come with open hearts. Oh, let the ancient words impart. Words of life, words of hope. Words of life, words of hope. Give us strength. Help us, God. In this world wherever we roam. In this world wherever we roam. Ancient words will guide us home. Ancient words will guide us home. Ancient words. Ancient words. Ever true. Changing me and changing you. We have come with open hearts. Oh, let the ancient words impart. Holy words of our faith handed down to these days. Came to us through sacrifice. Through sacrifice.
Oh, it's the faithful words of Christ.
Faithful words of Christ. Ancient words, ever true, changing me and changing you. We have come with open hearts. Oh, let the ancient words— One more time. Ancient words. Ancient words ever true, changing me and changing you. We have come. Thank you, Lord.
You're here this morning and there is a witness in your spirit. And if the altar call is called, you should identify now so you can know what this love looks like, what that life looks like. There is something the Lord is witnessing in your heart. It's time to drop. Run out quickly, run out quickly, run out quickly, run out quickly, run out quickly.
Don't hold back, don't hide it, don't keep the bleeding finger, don't keep the bleeding finger. Don't look like it, don't try to hide it. This is Jesus himself giving a summon and said, come to me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. He wants to show you what real rest looks like. That's why he's calling. That's why he placed the burden for this meeting. He wants to help us. He wants to bring you out to himself. He wants to wash you clean. He wants to help you. He's our ever-present help. He's the one who helps us to stand. Unto him that is able to keep us from falling and present us spotless. Jesus is coming soon and he wants the harvest of the world. He's calling on us to come. Come, come, come, says the Lord.
Come.
All ye that labor, come, let me help you get rest. You don't have to hide anymore. You don't have to hide in shame.
Come.
That's the call of the Lord this morning. Come. Jesus is calling. In the days of your salvation, Danaad in your heart.
Come, come to Jesus.
Come to him. Put your heart in his hands.
No one can help you but him. Let him help you. There's somebody here, the Lord is saying, let me help you. Start afresh. Let me help you build again.
Let me help you from the scratch. Let me help you, says the Lord.
Help her.
It's the word of the Lord to you this morning. It's trying to help you. I see Jesus stretching his hands and he's saying, take mine, take mine. You don't have to drown. Take my hands. Peter was drowning. Jesus was there. But he took the hands of Jesus and he walked on water again. I see Jesus saying, take my hands, let me help you walk. You don't have to drown. You don't have to. You don't have to drown. He's trying to help you. Maybe some of you are even giving up about the faith. I get it. You are hurt, you are pained. I understand, I've been there. You are tired of the lies. I get it. You've been betrayed.
I understand, I've been there too.
But that doesn't make our Savior a bad Savior. Don't fall for the trap of the enemy. Don't fall for the lies. Don't give up on church.
Don't fall for the lies of the devil. Let Jesus help you. Let him help you start afresh.
Some of you have callings in your life and the devil is attacking that call. He's coming fervently for it. He wants to make sure You never get there. But the devil has failed. The devil has failed again and again. He has failed.
Oh, thank you, Lord.
Thank you, Lord Jesus.
Is there still one more?
The train won't move till you answer the call this morning.
Is there still one more? Is there still one more soul saying yes, Lord?
Saying yes, Lord? Do we still have one more? Jesus wants to help you. He wants to hold you by the hand. It doesn't have to continue that way. It doesn't have to— it doesn't have to, it doesn't have to, it doesn't have to. There is the opportunity for a new beginning this morning. We bless you, Lord Jesus. Oh, thank you, Lord Jesus. We bless you, Jesus. We want to thank you this morning because this is a new beginning for your children. This is a fresh start backed up by your spirit. You are pouring your grace upon them this morning, releasing fresh fire for the journey. You are baptizing them afresh. You are giving them a new heart, opening their eyes to see what lies ahead, what you have perfected and finished. You are summoning these ones to yourself. And saying, come, let me journey with you and hold you by the hands. Let me walk with you through the waters. Let me walk with you through the fire.
You don't have to be burnt.
We see your hands, Jesus, and we respond to the call. And that's why we're here as your children. Everyone in front, I know some of you are saved already, and these you rededicating your life, and there are some who are giving their life But we say it together.
Lord Jesus, I believe that you came into this world to die for me.
