In this reflective monologue, the speaker argues that while prayer and spiritual disciplines are valuable, they are often incomplete when practiced in isolation. She emphasizes the need to integrate community, leisure, and physical self‑care (the "soul" and "body") with spiritual practices to achieve a balanced, whole‑person life. The speaker shares personal experience of neglecting her body and leisure, which led to fear and vice, and stresses that God desires humans to be whole rather than merely spiritual tools. She concludes by asking for guidance on how to serve the three aspects of herself—physical, spiritual, and soul—to be an effective wife and mother.

I think prayer is not incorrect, but it's sometimes incomplete. In addition to your praying, are you surrounding yourself in community? Are you incorporating leisure? Are you like— you are soul too, in addition to your spirit. And I think a lot of our religious communities train us for spirit life, but not really practical life. Not— and so I think a lot of us do live very imbalanced lives, where we're really good at quoting the scriptures, doing the fasting, doing the spiritual exercises, but we have no release. And I personally think that's why a lot of us get trapped in vices. But they're two ends of the same thing. Like you are spirit, but you're also soul. Like those first few months, I was walking in fear and trying to appropriate the spirit stuff that I knew. But I wasn't feeding my soul. I wasn't taking care of my body. I wasn't eating healthily. I wasn't, you know, watching things for leisure or being around people that took my mind off of the situation. You know what I mean? So there's— prayer is not incomplete. It's not incorrect. It's sometimes just incomplete. Like God wants all of us whole. And he sees us as more than just, you know, people that he's manipulating to do things. And I believe he wants us to see, like our view of God needs to be, in you is the fullness of what I need here. So teach me how to serve each of these three aspects of me, this physical body, Asuwa. How do I maneuver it in a way that brings me the optimum output? How can I be effective as a wife to my husband, as a mother to my kids?
