Another very important option that people have in case of infertility, which is the case of surrogacy. There are instances where certain couples, um, this woman can't carry this thing. Yeah, yeah. And now this option that is available now is surrogacy. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
There are several instances like that. Like, I, I give an example. Somebody who for one reason or the other has a womb removed Oh yeah, yeah. A womb can be removed in the course of maybe doing a fibroid surgery.
Yes.
And I discovered that after removing all this fibroid, this womb will be a problem to the woman, and the woman is trying to bleed to death on the table. You just have to remove the womb to save the life. Even after that, so far the ovary is left behind. Yes, yes, the woman is still fertile. Just that it cannot carry. You get egg from the intending parents, that's the couple that have the fertility challenge, you know. Egg from the woman, sperm from the man, fertilise, then transfer the fertilised egg, which is now the embryo, into the gestational carrier. That is, if I want to say it in common language, womb borrowing. Yes. Yeah, lend me your womb for 9 months, you know, and after that, you know, you can go. Thank you, you know. So, so the intending— the surrogate, which is the gestational carrier, carries the pregnancy, you know, for 9 months, delivers the baby, and goes through the process of releasing the baby to the intending parents, you know, because of course, you know, this baby has no genetic relationship with the person who carried. Yeah, who carried, you know. Yes. So you can get— and that exists as an option.
No, and you know what is beautiful is the fact that it is God who gave this wisdom and this, in the sense that we are so privileged that, you know, we are having loads of this advancement. These are cases that people would have died and believe God didn't want them to have a child.
Yeah, correct.
And now a lot exists.
Yeah.
There was a time that this was not a thing in Nigeria accepted. Am I correct? Taboo. Is it now accepted? Is it legal now in Nigeria?
