This is a YouTube video titled "5 YouTube Lessons as a Business Owner" created in February 2024. It features a single speaker sharing personal insights and lessons learned from growing a YouTube channel to over 40,000 subscribers, focusing on content creation strategies, dealing with algorithms, inspiration sources, contract awareness, and skill refinement.
I'm basically a nobody who went from no subscribers on YouTube to about 40 some thousand in a few years of slow and steady work. Here are five lessons I've learned that I recently shared on LinkedIn that I wish I had seen earlier. Number one, chase the frizzle factor. Create content that's fun, that you actually enjoy, that you wish you would have had. Secondly, algorithms have big mood swings. Don't expect search to just always be your friend. Don't rely on YouTube AdSense and basically just don't trust anyone because everything that can go wrong will go wrong. Third, get fresh and frequent inspiration, preferably not in your niche. I watch and get it inspiration way more often from fitness and moto camping channels, and I almost never watch productivity channels, even though ProcessDriven is technically a work productivity channel. Read the fine print. Contracts are not optional and they can screw you over. More about that later. And number five, refine your craft. Even if you're a business owner like me who just happens to make videos, you probably want to get better at doing it. And don't just ignore it because it seems scary. That's what's helped me so far as a creator. What tips have I missed? Let me know in the comments.
