A HubSpot Training and Updates Conversation

A HubSpot super admin discusses how to handle the constant stream of platform updates and new features without burning out. The speaker recommends using HubSpot's podcasts, training sessions, and certification paths to stay current while maintaining a sustainable learning pace.
Sam. All right, let's go ahead and get into this. You know, I just love some good theme music when we hop on here. And cinematic is even better. Superhero. Superheroish is also good. But hey, I want to jump on here because, one, it's been a while since I've just jumped on and done a live and talked to folks and just kind of embraced where my brain is and where my heart is. And today I want to embrace the topic of overwhelm or overload. And it's. It's something that I see happening in the HubSpot ecosystem. And you know what? I gotta be honest with you, I'm super curious. When you watch this, let us know in the chat pane. Is overwhelm something you're dealing with from an educational standpoint, meaning you're trying to keep up whether you're using the marketing hub, whether using the sales hub, whether you're using the service hub, whatever hubs you're using. Maybe you don't even think of it as individual hubs. Maybe you're like me and you think about it as hashtag, no hubs, one hub, one tool for all the teams. But you're trying to keep up. I'm super curious with that. Keeping up with HubSpot, are you being. Doing. And to be honest with you, when it comes to this overwhelm, this educational overload, do you ever feel like there's just so many different places to look and so how do you, like, keep track of all the places, let alone all the things? And I actually was talking to Chris Carolyn, a friend of mine, on another LinkedIn show earlier this week, and we even talked about, yeah, there's all these lessons coming out, but there's even lessons inside the lessons, like there's micro lessons from these things. So my. My job here today is I want to talk about the importance of something. I want to talk about why we need to get over this overwhelm, why we need to, for each individual, manufacture an opportunity for them to have a rentable, repeatable. I feel good about how I'm getting my information, where I'm getting my information, and more importantly, what I'm doing with that information. I don't know about you, but there's been times in my life where I've educated myself for education sake. And I hope, I hope and pray for all of the folks who are using HubSpot that the humans that are using HubSpot, should I do it? The humans that are using HubSpot, that they would educate, execute, educate, execute. Maybe a Little iterate, educate, execute. Okay, so let me go ahead and dive into this. I'm going to go ahead and share my screen here. So let me go ahead and get the entire screen that I want to share and then let me do, let's do this instead. That's a little bit better. And so when I think about this, what I'm thinking about is mindsets, and especially for HubSpot users, but especially for HubSpot super admins, which, by the way, this is a section out of the super admin training that is kicking off on Friday at 10 o'. Clock. We're doing 12 weeks of training, 90 minute sessions, additional emails, additional resources, but this is a section out of it. And so embracing a continuous learning mindset. Right, that's what we're talking about here. I mean, if you're ready to really make the most out of your HubSpot Hubs boost both your personal growth and your CRM skills, then embracing this continuous learning improvement mindset is vitally important. It's literally your golden ticket to success. And here's how. Diving deep into this mindset of continuous learning and improvement can ramp up your daily, weekly and monthly HubSpot game, all while keeping things fresh and impactful. Okay, because we gotta keep it fresh, we gotta keep it impactful because we gotta get past this educational overload, educational burnout that we might be feeling so that we can embrace this mindset. So if we continue on, you have to, as a human, stay sharp with HubSpot's latest features. I mean, this is part of the reason that we're having this burnout or overload. Like, listen, over the last 34ish, 35ish days, there's been a hundred plus updates and 30 betas that you could sign up for with HubSpot. Like that's just how anyway, but you have to kind of pay attention to those. But there's a way that you can pay attention to the ones that you need to pay attention to instead of all of the ones that are coming down the river. But HubSpot's always rolling out cool new features that can make your life easier, make your workflow smoother, and staying on top of these, ensure you're always using the platform at its full potential. This might sound easy, but again, we've seen historically that people have a hard time with it. So we're going to dive a little bit deeper into some areas that will help you stay sharp with HubSpot. And this is the crux of why I wanted to get on here. Because again, with this educational overload, with this weight that we have to bear, I thought to myself, why don't I just share with people with my growth mindset, where the heck do I pay attention? What do I look at now? Of course, the first thing that I do when I wake up in the morning, I, other than take a shower and get a cup of coffee, is I go into my HubSpot portal. I go into the right hand navigation and I look at the HubSpot in app. Here's the product updates and I look at ones that are important to me and I pass right on by ones that aren't at first. Now I'll come back and look at those ones that aren't important to me because I have the joy of helping other humans clients with their portals. So I need to know kind of all of these. But for you, if you're in an organization, an individual organization, then I think that you can just kind of dismiss some of these and the filtering in there on the hubs that you have. Like, why look at all of them? If you don't have the service hub, then look at marketing and look at sales. If those are the two hubs that you have, if you're super down with the commerce hub, then look at what updates are happening there. But here's the thing. I want to go through these resources and I'm actually going to reshare my screen here because what I want to do is I want to go ahead and share this screen which is going to go through the resources that you saw on the slide in real time though. So I'm going to go ahead and share this. And you should see right now, this right here is HubSpot new and it's, it's great. It's kind of an outer version of what you might find. Although I think the product updates in app goes a little bit deeper. But here you can look per hub, right? Marketing Hub, Sales Hub, Service Hub, Content Hub, Smart Hub, Operations Hub, Commerce Hub. And it keeps going, ladies and gentlemen, have we Hubbed ourselves to death? Not why we're here, not why we're here. Okay, the next one. HubSpot just released this Spotlight super dope, by the way. I can't wait to see what they do to keep it updated and keep it going. But if you want to see what's kind of happening here, you can definitely check out the Spotlight page. I think this is brilliant, real brilliant for like people who are coming into the HubSpot ecosystem. I don't know how much I'll use this in the future. But it was an honorable mention because it is a way that you can see what's kind of happening with HubSpot now. Here, here. Let's get into the real deal. Holy fields though. If you're not paying attention. HubSpot tips and tricks, my boy Kyle Jepsen. Go over to LinkedIn. Make sure you follow this because he does energetic breaking news style updates. And again, it's something that you could be working on something and listening to what he's saying in his feed or totally paying attention to what he's saying in the feed with the update. And also see, hey, like, is this something that actually impacts something? The next one that I want to mention is if you're not on Tuesdays at 11am Eastern, if you're not part of the super admins hug, you should do that. Listen, I've been in the ecosystem for over 12 years now, which sounds crazy. Been in the HubSpot ecosystem for 12 years. I personally Tuesdays 11am stop everything. Have it blocked out on my calendar. There's a tip there, by the way. Block out your educational roadmap for your growth so that you don't get overwhelmed because you're spending copious amounts of time that you shouldn't be, but you're streamlining the time that you have scheduled to actually have this growth mindset. But 11 o' clock am Tuesdays, I am here. I'm here. Well, unless I'm on vacation, then I'm probably trying to sneak away from the family so I can get there. Or I'm just spending time with my family. Forget that. Scratch that. I'm spending time with my family. All right, next Hub Heroes podcast every week at 3. I know, I know. At 3pm I'm gonna be listening. Actually, I'm helping to create, but I'm listening to Devon, Max, Liz, and we're creating content for people who are in the HubSpot space. And by the way, yes, you can watch live. Like if you go to community.hubheroes.com There's a way that you can sign up to go watch the show live. And we have multiple people that are in the audience and in the chat pane and it's super fun and it's super exciting. But Tuesdays at 11, Fridays at 3, that's two really good places to put into your week of like, okay, so I don't get overwhelmed. These are at least two places I'm gonna inject new information into my brain to have this gross, this growth mindset. Another One that I love because I can take it along with me wherever I go. And by the way, I just love these dudes. Ian and Craig, both of them are super amazing. But the Hub Shots podcast, little unknown fact, like, when I used to do the hubcast with Marcus Sheridan, I think we were the catalyst moment, Ian said, for him and Craig to start this podcast. And it has been going for a lot of episodes. So, like, if you need a place to kind of focus in, but you're driving, you're flying, you're on a train, you're climbing a mountain, like Hub Heroes podcast, Hub Shots podcast. I'm sure there's other podcasts that you might enjoy, but put those in there. Specific to HubSpot learning, of course, you could go to Sidekick Strategies YouTube channel. We're creating YouTube videos. Listen, we're gonna get better at it. We're gonna do more. We've been starting a business. The business has started, the business is running. There's more coming. But there is a lot there. But honestly, one of my favorite YouTube channels is HubSpot Hacks. Ali and the team, like, they kill it. They do a great job. So there's a bunch of different places that you could be thinking that you need to go on YouTube for HubSpot content, or you can pick two or three of your mainstay staples to be like, okay, I got these two podcasts, I got these two channels, and I got these two or three places where I go keep up to date and educate. Which, by the way, I haven't mentioned HubSpot Academy, like, right yet. Right now, that's the deep end of the pool. Even if it's lessons, like, you're gonna be there a hot minute. I'm kind of talking about things that you can get in, get out, or do on the move in. In side your day, HubSpot Academy, you need a snack and a backpack, and that's okay. But for lessons and certifications, like, again, you should be scheduling out that time and you should build a training roadmap if you are going to be going down that road. And, and by the way, one of the biggest questions I get is like, do I have to get the certifications? My answer to that is, I don't care if you get the certifications, but I do care if you get the education in the videos for the certifications and then execute on the education that you got. Okay, now the other one too, that I have to mention here, because we've seen this overwhelm, because we've seen that people are just having hard, hard time learning what they need to learn. They need to get the like 20 that' to give them the 80% results. They need to know the updates that they, that really impact and how they impact or why they impact. Completely changing the way that you're using HubSpot. So we've literally come up with the super admin training again. This presentation, that slice of a presentation that I'm kind of talking about is pulled out of that super admin, which I'll go, I'll go back to that in a second. I'll go back to that in a second. Um, but the super admin training is definitely something where you can sign up for it. You get access to this community, you get the recorded sessions, additional resources. There's conversations with people who are going to be in here. But again, it's, it's our looking at the ecosystem and saying woohoo. A lot of people are overwhelmed. How can we help fix this? Ooh, a lot of people want to learn this. How can we fix it? Listen, I've done four super admin boot camps with HubSpot Academy where we had 300 plus people in the seats for each one. So there's a need, There's a definite need and we're trying to help alleviate that. So let me go ahead and reshare my screen here and we'll go back to the presentation deck. Because what I want to share with you is while, while we look at these and these are things. Yes, Deanna, a snack in a backpack sometimes for HubSpot Academy, I'm just gonna throw that out there. By the way, I love the chats that I'm seeing. Yes, there should be a cycle between learning and building. Totally, totally get it. Genuine question. When does the always be learning mindset become a distraction from going out and building something? I kind of addressed that, but I love the question it was asked earlier. Here's the thing. I do educate, execute, educate, execute, educate, execute. So I'm literally executing on the thing that I'm learning versus like go, learn, learn, learn, learn, learn, learn, learn. And then be like, I'm gonna take a break and what did I learn? And I don't know, but I didn't do anything with it. Like, that's no, no good, no good, no good. All right, so let's go ahead and move forward here. So let me go ahead and grab this out of the way. So when I think about this continuous learning, when I think about trying to streamline the education and get over the overwhelm or the overload that we're all kind of facing in the HubSpot ecosystem with how fast everything is moving, how it's changing and growing. I come down to that. We, like, we have to be boost our CRM skills. That has to be one of the, the goals, one of the things that we're trying to achieve. Yes, we need to stay sharp, we need to stay agile, we need to know what's coming down the pipeline. But we, we need to boost our skills. And listen, I know you know this, but the business world, your business that you work for, it isn't like static. Like the only thing that changes is change. And it'll always change. Like nothing stays the same. And keeping your CRM strategies fresh and effective means you're always ready to meet your customers right where they're at, right in the right spot. That's the golden spot. Like meeting the humans where they need you to meet them. Right. That's the sweet spot of any business. And, and having CRM skills that allow you to create that customer experience is where you're at. As a super admin, dare I say just a HubSpot user, your goal should be to enable your team or the people, employees, humans around you to show up where your customers need them to show up and how they need you to show up to help them show up. I know that's a lot of show ups but like sometimes we have to think about the team more than we think about ourselves because if we can get a team of people to show up where they need to be, that rather than just us showing up there, it's, it's more impactful. And HubSpot is packed with learning resources. This is where I lean into HubSpot Academy. If I'm trying to sharpen my CRM skills, can I get it from all the other places that I just shared? Yes. But I lean into HubSpot Academy for this. And here's what I mean by that. There is a roadmap where it's all about the software, it's all about the CRM skills, which by the way, when I say CRM, I literally mean HubSpot hashtag no Hubs, HubSpot just being a CRM HubSpot not thinking of him, a sales marketing service, operations, just this is the complete CRM global mindset. And so if you think about this, hashtag1hub if you will, HubSpot marketing software, sales software, service software, contextual marketing. So you can do smart stuff with the content that you're creating for marketing or Sales enablement, content, revenue, operations and reporting. If you take these six certifications, there's no way in h e doublel hockey sticks that you don't get these certs. Even if you forget the rest of them, Even if you're not Jorge Fuentes and you get 46 freaking certifications, which is crazy. I've never had 46. I had 42 at the max. Like that was. And I was like, ah, I got 42, but I can't 46. You can't. Not everybody has to be a Jorge, right? If you got these six and that was your focus over a three month or a six month period just to get these six, the amount that you would boost your CRM skills would be amazing. And again, do I care if you get the certification? Actually, yes, kind of. But I'll say no. But it's the education out of it and then being able to execute. And yes, Deanna, I love this Ideate, Educate, Execute, Iterate. Oh, yes, that's a, that's a beautiful formula, ladies and gentlemen. All right, so why is all of this important? Are you trying to help your business be successful? Yes. But you're also trying to grow yourself. You're trying to grow professionally. Like, listen, the only reason that I was able to go from inbound zero in 2012 to what we might call an inbound Hero Today in 2024 is this continuous learning mindset. The ability to go from, you know, HubSpot agency employee to HubSpot agency owner is rooted in the ability to stay sharp, boost my skills and then grow professionally. HubSpot is packed with Learning resources like HubSpot Academy certifications, training sessions. Tapping into those are going to help you sharpen your skills and make you a powerhouse at your work and maybe even enable you to do something you thought you never would be able to do. Like it has for me. But as you can see, there's a wide world of channels that you can invest your time into to become truly world class. With HubSpot, when you invite this mindset into your life, you have to invite a mindset of when, when am I going to schedule it? Because it does have to be a piece of the puzzle. Kind of like we have landed on the Ideate, Educate, Execute iterate model in this little live session that we're having. Like, what does it look like for that from your growth mindset standpoint? Listen, if you're paying attention to this, I would beg you to figure out how to get rid of the educational overwhelm to master your life and Plan in a way that you get over this educational overload and can really tune in the. The engine that allows you to become the hub hero that your organization needs, where you can make a real difference at the organization, where you can make a real difference to the humans you're helping. It's about your journey, your human journey through this ecosystem. And right now, what makes me sad is I fee. I. I see a lot of people that I feel like they're getting hit by a tsunami. And so how do you build your wall? How do you construct your time? How do you use these things to make your life a little bit easier? Look, adopting a mindset isn't just about staying current. It's about actively seeking ways to do better. It's about not setting for settling for good enough when great is just around the corner. It's about pushing yourself to discover new ways to engage with your team and customers through HubSpot. Not setting for settling for good enough when great is just around the corner. It's about pushing yourself to discover new ways to engage with your team and. And customers through HubSpot. That's what it's about. Listen. Imagine turning your daily tasks into opportunities for innovation and your weekly reviews into strategy gold mines. That's the power of continuous learning and improvement. By. By weaving in learning into the fabric of your daily work life, you ensure your skills, strategies, and systems. Oh, we could probably have a whole talk on systems evolve as dynamically as the market or HubSpot or the things that are pushing us along the way like they do.
