This is a YouTube video titled "A new way to pitch your services." It contains a monologue or talk from June 29, 2024, discussing strategies for pitching work to clients, emphasizing the importance of demonstrating problem-solving for unique client needs rather than relying on a portfolio of past projects. The speaker critiques traditional agency approaches and suggests a shift in how services are presented to potential clients.
When I meet with a new client, instead of just saying, oh, we do work with this big company, people don't care anymore. Social media and things have really flattened the barrier to entry. What they want is, I know you can solve this problem for me. You've solved it before. We used to have clients that come to us and say, have you guys done an app like this before? And we'd be like, no, But, I mean, we do tons of app. We've done, like, 20, 30 apps. Your app is not that a beautiful, unique snowflake, but to them it is. And if they don't see that exact app in your portfolio, they won't hire you. The only way you can combat that is saying, well, all these people had the same problem as you did. They had this unique problem that nobody else was solving. And here's how we solve unique problems versus saying we've done a bunch of apps. And that's why a lot of agencies are struggling right now, because they're following the same thing they did five, 10 years ago and just being like, look at our fancy portfolio. Don't you want something fancy like this? And then people are like, no, I need to not be struggling with this thing anymore. We've got to change how we're pitching our work.
