Ads | HubSpot Admins HUG | 01.23.24

Varun and Erica McMonagle walk through HubSpot's ads tool, covering optimization strategies, new AI content assistant, and conversion APIs. The session includes a Q&A on ad campaigns, integrations, and technical setup.
And then move on to. If you're a beginner, one of the first things you should do once you first connect your ad account and then afterwards a bit more. For advanced users or users who want to become more advanced, how do you get the most out of your ads beyond just the first couple steps? Next, we'll talk about what's new in the ads tool. What features are that are not, not really available to everyone, but will soon be available to everyone. And finally we'll wrap it up with some Q and A based on the questions in the Q and A panel. With that I'll pass to Erica.
Yeah, and I think before we dive in, just, we'll do quick introduction. So. Hi everyone. Really excited to be here today. I'm Erica McMonagle, I'm our designer on the ads tool and I've also dabbled in social a little bit too. So I'm excited that you'll have the social session coming up as well. And I'll let Varun introduce himself and then we'll jump in.
Yep. Sorry, I got too excited and carried away. But I'm Varun. I'm the product manager for the ads tool.
Awesome. Thanks, Varun. He's going to share his screen and jump over just straight into the ads tool. We have a little test environment with some fake data in it as we go through this. None of this is real, but we have some pre filled out stuff that we can talk through today. So we wanted to make sure that this was accessible to those who are maybe newer to the ads tool and those who have already been using our ads tool. So just to start at the top, want to just give a brief introduction to what you can find within the ads tool. In HubSpot, you can't see anything until you connect an ad account. So this is like a nice sneak peek of like what can you see once you've connected at least one ad account, if not several. So the real value add of kind of like jumping into using an ads tool with your marketing tools, with your CRM is that you can look at your ad performance across multiple networks. Right? So obviously if you're just advertising on Facebook or Google, you can go to those places and look at your ad performance. But here you can see it all in one place. You can see contacts attributed to your ads campaigns, look at impressions, clicks, who's turning into customer deals, your total amount spent, and for Pro plus customers, also roi, return on investment. So here on the first initial page of the ads tool, you'll be able to get that Nice overview. You can drill into any of your ad campaigns, but also you can take a look at kind of like customizing this page for whatever you need and whatever metrics you want to track. So varun, if you click on that edit columns button there, you can customize like what you're seeing within this table. Right. So you want to make sure that you're prioritizing, of course, things that you're tracking and reporting on and you know, sharing with your teams. So we have lots of options within here. I know from talking to lots of customers, obviously the cost per contact or cost per life cycle stages is really important. So we have all of those within here. So just wanted to call that out. I know that's very frequently used and we have lots of good definitions in there too, tooltip wise as you're getting started. And then otherwise within the ads tool, if you haven't created any ads before, you're just starting out, we do have some basic ad campaigns that you can create directly through HubSpot that then you know of course show within the ad networks and are run. So we have some relatively basic ad types like a post engagement ad on Facebook, we have website visit ads, lead generation. And then of course for Google it's, it's search based, not social network. And then we do have a ad type that we've actually come up with here at HubSpot called an ad sequence. Currently it's only available with Facebook, but you basically create three ads and then they're kind of like triggered automatically and just run through the sequence. So happy to answer any questions on those as well. But these are kind of like basic ad types to get started with if you haven't created ads before. We also have our AI assistant in there that we'll get into a little bit later as well. And then the last thing I just wanted to call out at a high level getting to know the ads tool is that we do have, besides just looking at your reporting, you can create ads audiences as well as ad conversion events. And then we have like many HubSpot tools, of course we have that Analyze tab with further reports that you can then build into a bigger dashboard that you manage. So that's like a really fast intro to what is in the ads tool and what you can use in there. So thinking about, okay, you've connected an ad account or two, what are the first things that you want to do once you actually get started advertising? So the first few things you want to do is when you're setting up an ad account we'll ask you a bunch of questions around setting up an ad account within HubSpot. We'll ask you some questions around adding your pixels to HubSpot and also turning on lead syncing. And then of course I've already talked a little bit about getting to know your performance reporting within that Manage tab there. But adding your pixels and turning on lead syncing are really key to getting a lot of value out of the ads tool within HubSpot. As far as your pixels and lead syncing go, if you want to turn those on, post setup. Yeah, thank you for jumping back into the ads tool and going over into settings here. You can always add additional ad accounts, but making sure that you go here. And obviously because this is a demo environment, we're not actively syncing leads into it, but you would see your ad accounts here that you've connected that you want to be syncing leads from. Those will go straight into HubSpot. So it's a really nice bonus. As well as making sure you're adding your pixels, this will enable you to start tracking conversions and reengage people who have visited your website. You can then later choose a pixel to then create an ads audience from, which is really cool. Most of our customers do create tons of ads audiences based on contact lists, but also based on their pixels and use those in their advertising. So those are nice, easy, kind of like first steps that we recommend taking once you're connected on ads and happy to answer any questions. I know I ran through those concepts really quickly, but we can dive a little bit more into types of ads audiences we have, any questions you might have about them and then the last piece. I feel like this group is probably well aware, but I always really like to point out that we do announce new product notifications and features. Often you'll see those within the tool as little pop ups or the little purple boxes that point you to a new thing within an app within a tool in HubSpot. But additionally within your portfolio portal you can go I don't know if this is hopefully not too basic, but you can go here and go to Product Updates and click on that and you can always filter to a specific tool and you can see all of the ads features that we've been launching. So just a extra trick just in case, but I feel like hopefully this group is well aware. But I always like to point it out and then I will hand it back to Varun to go a little bit more in depth.
Great, thank you so much, Erica. So we went over a bit of the basics about how you what you do when you get started with the ads tool. But let's go a bit more in depth of how you get the most out of your ads. Let's say that you've been advertising for a little bit. How do you make sure that the ads you're getting are giving you the most bang for your buck? The first situation you might be in, and I'm the way I'm going to go through these slides is I'll list three situations and we'll I'll identify ways to solve each of them. So the first situation is let's say you're in the bucket of I want more ways to optimize my ad campaigns, specifically optimizations that don't cause me to spend any more money than I need to on Facebook, Google or LinkedIn ads. The best way to do that, as Erica briefly mentioned, is add conversion events. But diving a bit deeper, what ad conversion events actually are are when you send a signal. When we as HubSpot send signals to the ad networks whenever a contact takes an action in the HubSpot CRM and these and our ad network partners will use that first party data to optimize ad targeting and decrease cost per result, essentially making your campaigns more optimized and getting you again the most bang for your buck out of all the conversions that you have. This is really important first party data because as I'm sure a lot of us are already well aware, Google's third party cookies are going to disappear by the end of the year. They've already started deprecating a lot of them. So first party data is becoming more and more important. And ad conversion events are HubSpot ads premier solution towards giving you all first party data and ensuring that ad networks as well have access to that data so that your ads are as optimal as they can be. Now specifically on drilling down to the different types of events we offer, the first type of event is lifecycle stage change events. So if you see to the right, we listed all the lifecycle stages that we associate with the contact whenever they're in the HubSpot CRM. So when a contact goes for example from a lead to an MQL or an opportunity to a customer, then we'll send a signal directly to the ad network letting them know and they'll optimize the ads based on those customers who've changed those lifecycle stages. The next type of event that we offer is form submission events. Essentially whenever a Context submits a HubSpot form that could be anywhere on your website. Then we'll send a signal directly back to the ad networks to let them know that contacts have been submitting a forum and to optimize your campaigns as such. This both and all of these ad conversion event features are available to all prone enterprise customers and in order to set it up, it's as simple as navigating to the ads tool, clicking Create Event, inputting all the required information and you'll be set. The next situation you might be in is let's say that you're not targeting the right people with your ads or other marketing campaigns. To solve this, we have another solution for ads audiences. For this one, you can use HubSpot lists or a set of website visitors to create your audience. This could be useful. Let's say in the example of you have one ad campaign that's running, but you want to retarget customers who have already interacted with that ad campaign with another ad campaign. You can do that with HubSpot ads audiences by retargeting those contacts who have already interacted with that ad campaign with a new type of ad by sending your new ad audience in the new ad campaign. Our ads audiences are available to all types of marketing hub customers and set it up again, simple as clicking Create and an audience, put all the required information and you're all set and to the right. I just have a graphic showing how marketers struggle to offer a personalized experience and ads audiences are the best way to do so with advertising, allowing you to personalize your ads based on the journeys or based on the criteria that you set for your customers or contacts. Sorry. The next way you can make more personal marketing campaigns is through ad automation. For ad automation, you can use simple HubSpot workflows in ad campaign creation and management to automatically send out for example, a follow email or any type of action that you can do in marketing automation for customers that interact with ads. This is available to Marketing Hub Starter and above customers. And to set this up you just navigate to creating an ad campaign, fill out the required ad targeting, budget and schedule sections, and then you can click on the rightmost automation tab and you can create a simple workflow based on that ad. So again, one example is let's say a customer has interacted with one of your website traffic ads. You can add that customer to an ads audience so you can retarget them for later and you can also automatically send up a follow up email, saving you a ton of time not having to do manual work. We love automation here at HubSpot and the numbers prove it. Marketers that use these AI automation tools are 95% more likely to say their marketing strategy is effective and lucky for everyone. We can save a lot of time in our ads as well. Let's say the final bucket that you're in is that currently you cannot track your ad performance against the targets that you set in the beginning of the year, beginning of the month, whatever you all do. For this solution we have ad goals. You can set goals for select campaigns and customize the goals based on the objective, the marketing objective that you have, the duration that you have and the and what targets for each one based on your preferences. These goals are available to marketing hub prone enterprise customers and to set it up again as simple as going to create an end goal, input all the required information and you should all be set. And I encourage you all to create smart goals which we have plenty of blog articles on how to create smart goals from HubSpot. Those are ways to optimize your ad campaigns, although those features may be some of those we've had for a while. So let's focus on what's new and what's on the horizon for the ads tool. The first thing again as Erica introduced is Content Assistant for Ad creation. So for a continent system you can take advantage of our generative AI to easily create ad copy from simple prompts. When doing so, you can also rewrite, expand and shorten any regenerated copy just to give you more control of your AI generated text. The goal here is we know ad copy is extremely tedious and a time consuming process to create, so you just want to make that as easy as possible so you can do what you all do best and that is optimize your campaign, do the real do the real engaging work rather than focusing all your efforts on ad copy, which we can always do with generative AI. Currently this features in public beta, but it'll soon be available to all Marketing hub customers and right now we only offer it for engagement, website visit and lead gen ads. But we're planning to add support for our other ad types soon. The next one on the horizon is search ads for Google Next. This feature is really important for all you existing ads users out there. We in the Ads tool we haven't really gone too deep in this yet, but we offer ad attribution reports where you can filter for each of your contacts that take a certain journey when they've interacted with your ad campaign. So for example, if a contact has for example if a contact has interacted with an ad and then directly clicked on directly converted based on a form. We can call that first ad interaction because the ad is what they first record an interaction with. However, if a contact, for example, has interacted with another one of your marketing campaigns and then interacts with an ad and then converts to become a forum, that'd be a last ad interaction. It used to be one of the most confusing parts of HubSpot, but now or not HubSpot the most confusing parts of the ads tool. We've gotten a lot of support tickets about this but for now but now we've we've heard you all and we've heard how confusing it is. You have access to form new refreshed ad attribution filters that paint a much needed clearer picture of your context journeys. We've heard a lot of excitement around this. Currently this is in a closed private beta. However we'll soon be ungating it slowly and allowing it to be available to all marketing customers in the future. Finally, the last new feature we want to talk about is Conversions API for Facebook Lifecycle Stage Change Events. This seems very complicated for those of you who don't know, but the long story short and the TLDR here is we have talked a lot about ad conversion events before and Lifecycle Stage events. Specifically, Facebook has a new API called its Conversions API to make their Lifecycle Stage Change events even more optimal. To decrease your cost per result as much as possible and optimize ad targeting as much as possible. We have now updated our ad conversion events to use Capio Conversions API so we can offer you the best in class optimization that Facebook can offer. Again, just like all of our events, it's only available to Marketing Hub Pro and enterprise customers. However, we definitely are very excited about this feature as well as are our Facebook partners who we've worked tremendously with in order to bring this feature together. I talked about a lot but I'll take a pause and a breather here and we can start with the Q and A. Let me just stop sharing my screen so I can see the questions.
Great. Yeah, so make sure you so Deanna just dropped the form in. We would love Varun and Erica would love personally your your feedback and input. We're going to move over though to the Q and A now so if you leave the chat that I just told you to, click on a link in and go to the QA and look through, we have a lot of questions here. Upvote the ones you like best, add ones that you want answered and we will work through them. Most popular or least popular. I feel pretty good about our odds of getting through all of them. I'll just give you all a minute to vote. Who are we kidding? I can't wait a minute in silence.
Yeah, no you can't.
Okay. Sorting them down.
That's okay.
Okay, top question is about LinkedIn ads. Can you address the inability to post Multiple creatives a LinkedIn best practice for your ad?
I'm gonna take that as assuming. Just to clarify, posting it like creating the ad through HubSpot.
I assume so.
Yeah. I know. I can't. This cat loves meetings. She's so excited to answer your ads questions. She's in charge. Yeah. So within. Within HubSpot where you're asking about probably in website visit or lead generation ads just being limited on how many images you can add.
This question actually came through the chat a couple of times because I'm not an ads person. I also don't exactly know what it means, but having Multiple creatives for LinkedIn ads specifically seems to be in the case of LinkedIn, currently they recommend for best results to do multiple creatives per campaign. Does HubSpot ad support multiple creative campaigns? I've tried to do it and I can only launch one creative per campaign.
Yes, I think just definitely noting that to be honest, We've had the LinkedIn ad type for a little while now and it's probably time to take a look at it again. So I definitely encourage folks to use our ideas forum and like upvote the ideas there too because we do pay attention to that on how folks, you know, what improvements they want to add creation. So definitely noting it. There's not a limitation on our side. It's just not the way we originally built that piece, just to be honest. So definitely noting it. Thank you for the feedback. I agree.
When will Google Ads support contact tracking for Performance Max campaign? Campaigns currently not supported due to API limitations or something. Question mark.
Yeah, Varun. You want to take that?
I can take that one. So for Performance Max campaigns, we currently don't offer contact tracking, but we have been getting a lot of requests for it. So it's definitely something that we have on a roadmap. It's definitely something that we've been looking at a lot. It's definitely something that we want to consider in the future. I don't have a timeline exactly for it just because we. Our ads team has been working a lot to answer a lot of holistic reporting gaps that we have, but it's obviously that we do note. And it's one of our biggest pain points that we see.
Yeah, I think to just add on that the way that Performance Max campaigns handle attribution is just a little bit different than their other campaigns. And so it just doesn't fit naturally into like our reporting schema right now. But definitely noted as Farune said.
Great. Austin asks how do I make sure that all my Google Ad conversions make it into HubSpot?
Do you want to. Do you want me to take that or.
Yep. So just to ensure that all you can see all your. I guess to me the question is how do I get all the tracking information from Google into HubSpot and see all the context that I have in HubSpot? The way to do that is by one making sure that you have all your forms in all your websites and have the tracking code on your website. I can drop a link into the chat of what the HubSpot tracking code is and how to add it to all your websites. But essentially what the HubSpot tracking code is is it's a code that you can a snippet that you can add to your website and it'll allow us to use the Google Pixel to track conversions. And once we get the conversions from your website, then we'll be able to show it in HubSpot ads. To me, I would recommend following all those instructions just so you can have the tracking code installed and then get all the attribution information that you can.
Great. Are there any plans to work with Microsoft ads?
Yes, Microsoft is one of our. If you look at our Ideas forum, it is the top most voted in the Ideas forum. So we 100% get a lot of Microsoft requests every day. The only issue with the Ads tool is, I mean candidly, there is a lot, not a lot, but there's multiple issues with the Ads tool that we want to fix in the future. But one of the big things that are limiting us is the fact that it takes us a while to integrate new ad networks, which is why we've had three for a long time. The process is really, really difficult for us to integrate and connect all the APIs to the AD stool. When we do target new advertisers, we take it very, very carefully. The planning process and the technical process takes a while, but we definitely want to link Microsoft ads in the future. I just can't get back to you with an exact timeline on that just because it takes so long and these partners and it's more than just even an engineering lift. It's also a co marketing lift. We have a lot of other factors that we need to take into account. So sadly I can't get back to you at the timeline, but we definitely see it as it's our top ideas forum post and we check that a lot.
Great.
And Kyle, before we move on to the next one, I wanted to just call out one other quick thing for making sure you get your conversions into HubSpot. Making sure you add that pixel in HubSpot in the ad settings is really important for Google specifically. There's no duplication, so it's okay to run it in Google Tag Manager and in HubSpot they handle deduplication so you don't have to worry about that specifically for Google. And then in general, just turning on lead syncing is another way just to make sure you're getting all of your leads from lead generation ads.
So.
So just wanted to quickly call that out.
Great. Yeah, thank you. Ana asks I want to do retargeting ads on LinkedIn but my audience website visitors is always below 300. What can I do to start doing retargeting ads?
That's a good question, Anna. Erica, do you want to take it or should I take it?
I can do a quick opinion, but Carrie, you feel free to add on. I think overall as you're trying to build up a LinkedIn audience, I think definitely, obviously using their resources, I'm sorry if this feels obvious but like using their resources to make sure you're kind of trying to like expand who you're targeting with LinkedIn to then try to build those audiences. There's also like the. I just need to get the exact phrasing because every, as you all know, every ad network has slightly different specifications on like type keywords of these, but the LinkedIn Audience Network as well. So as you're advertising you can like turn on that checkbox and that kind of like opens up who you're targeting to and hopefully over time you could grow those audiences. I don't know Varun, if you have.
Anything else I, I think you covered. I think it's a difficult problem to solve because I know a lot of beginner advertisers especially have been dealing with this issue, which is why it's so upvoted. But I recommend doing that. And if maybe your website visitors audiences don't work, they have a lot of contacts and maybe a contact list or a HubSpot list using one of those contactless audiences I mentioned before could also help. Just playing around with all your options really. And again we have A lot of documentation available for HubSpot about how to increase reach and I'm sure LinkedIn does as well. So feel free to use all those resources just to help you with your ad campaign needs.
Yeah, for sure. Peter asks, do you know when Google pmax campaigns will register correctly in the Ads Dashboard? Currently, contacts that are created here do not show. This causes us many reporting problems and unhappy customers. Is this the same as the previous Google Max question?
Not a performance max, but I think again with all the requests, we're definitely taking it into big consideration. It's just as Erica mentioned, there is a lot of hurdles you have to jump through for pmax, but we are doing our best to try to solve that.
Charlene asks, is HubSpot planning to integrate intent data?
I am a bit confused by the question. What do you mean by intent data? Am I, am I missing something?
She says, intent data tells you when buyers are actively researching online for a solution and which products and services they are interested in based on. Based on the web content they consume. We don't have any plans around that specifically right now, but definitely just noting it down and we'll take a look.
I mean, there are broader things happening with data at HubSpot. We just bought Clearbit, so I don't know. I don't have insight into where we're going, but that is a thing Charlene, that may happen independent of the ads team. I don't know for sure if that would be like an ads tool feature necessarily. That might be a whole new category.
Yeah, I think I can share broadly that HubSpot is definitely considering how we will grow. You know, obviously you have ads audiences today, but how do we kind of grow that concept across marketing? And it's definitely something we're all talking about is the amount I can, I can share today.
Sure. Matthias asks, can you please refer to the limitations of using audiences in your account if new or low volume and if there is a way around it. I wonder if this is similar to the. The question earlier about retargeting, how if you don't hit that 300 mark, you're. I don't know.
Yeah, I believe. I believe that's the same question.
Okay, so just to reiterate what Varun said, you may have other a list of contacts you can pull from inside HubSpot, or you may just need to do some more marketing work to grow the contacts you have access to. Colleen asked, is it possible to view what contacts took what events from LinkedIn? Currently, I'm not seeing that as an.
Option, I assume, attending a webinar, something like that. Is that right?
Maybe. Colleen, if you can tell us how you define events. That's a technical word that can mean a few different things. Maybe we'll circle back to that. Okay, we finally came to Chad's original question. Why is the ads team so awesome? Do you have your answers? We can move on. Marina asks, when is Microsoft Ads integration happening, if at all? I guess we hit that one already. Again, it is a very common request. There's probably a lot of paperwork and legal red tape involved. Joshua asks or says, I often encounter vendors who run ads outside accounts that are or can be connected to HubSpot in their communities, to their audiences, etc. Is there any way to get their spend into HubSpot in those cases?
So I'm gonna make an assumption by this question. So I'm assuming that you mean these vendors are running ads directly in the ad networks like Google, Facebook, LinkedIn, just that they don't use HubSpot. And I guess we're asking how do we get this? What is the transition from going from like Google, Facebook and LinkedIn to managing it directly in HubSpot? The way to do that is fairly simple. Again, as Erica mentioned, you can just log into HubSpot and click Connect Ad Accounts. If you already have existing ad accounts, it's as simple as just authenticating and then selecting which ad accounts you want to connect into. HubSpot, the ads tool itself is available for all marketing hub tiers. So that goes from all the way from free all the way to enterprise. So if your customer or if the vendor in question doesn't want to spend any money on HubSpot, that is fine. We have features available at the free tier. However, as always with HubSpot, there's the great and the real value Ads are unlocked at the higher level tier, such as those ad conversion events that I mentioned before. But it's just as simple as authenticating and clicking. I hope that answered your question. I know I made a couple.
The other possible interpretation I see of the question is if they're working with some tech tool that lets them run ads on platforms we don't support. Like they are, you know, big spenders and they have Netflix and Spotify ads they're they're posting, is there some way we could report on all of that altogether inside of HubSpot?
I think the HubSpot reporting tool may have some solutions for that based on your UTM source. Don't quote me on that. I'm not too sure. But I would definitely look like as an exploratory glance, I would look at the reporting tool and see what they can offer for those types of outside sources that we don't currently offer.
Yeah, I think just to chime in Chad, if you do want to fill out a submission on the form like the survey that we shared, I noted that you said for example billboards are offline sources. So definitely great to hear that you want to pull everything into the ads tool and have everything in the same place. So we'd love to hear a little bit more about kind of how you would want to do that and what you would want to get from that. Thanks in advance if you're willing to share a little bit more detail.
Cool. Regina asked why does Facebook only support syncing lifecycle data from contacts who interacted with their lead generation campaigns? Is there immense there is events immense value in tracking lifecycle data across your entire Facebook ad account with marketing events poorly. Did you understand?
I think I understand right now, right now Facebook for a capi integration for lifecycle stage change events or those offline events they only offer for instant forms and the reason for that is because the API I think that we're initially building to only offered for instant forms, but I think that we have plans to expand that beyond that. It's just again just takes a bit more time into building into new APIs and adding new functionality which again we need to prioritize against all the other list items that we have, including what you all mentioned for performance. Max Bing as you can see the product development process is a roller coaster.
Yeah, definitely just API limitations unfortunately. Sorry about that.
Perhaps this is in the same vein. Colleen asked lead gen forms on LinkedIn why do these not show up as forms on HubSpot.
As like HubSpot forms?
Oh I don't know.
I don't know. Why would that Might be a question for the forums team.
They are coming in a couple months so put that one on ice.
LinkedIn is pushing to use their native forms. So when you are creating lead gen ads within HubSpot you can create and use your LinkedIn lead gen forms currently third party. So like ad ad network forms are not shown in in with the rest of your HubSpot forms which is is what I assume you're asking about. So I think that's great feedback if you have further feedback on how you would want to see that and manage that within HubSpot at all or you know, you wouldn't be managing necessarily your native forms. But being able to see them in a more visible way or where you would want to see them and why. That would be really helpful feedback. I definitely encourage you to submit a little bit more information on that. Would love to hear more but I hear you. They are separated from HubSpot forms today in the way that we do forms in HubSpot.
Yeah okay. Ruchika asks how do you define ad interaction? Is it form fill on the landing page or just ad click for us?
I guess there's two levels to this question. One is how do we define ad interaction for events or just in general an ad interaction? For an ad interaction we define it as an ad click. But in order for you to get the actual contact tracking and attribution datum and see those contact number go up in your ads tool, then a contact would need to fill out a form. Hopefully that answers the question.
I think ad interactions can be any type of click. So like a click on your website form fill anything like that. We'll definitely make sure as we noted, we are rolling out pretty soon a new ads attribution model, so we'll make sure that that definition is clear on our knowledge base.
Cool. Yep Kenneth asks Most My clients have no idea how to navigate that Google Ads UI but know how to navigate HubSpot. Any movement on getting the ad previews to better reflect actual responsive text ads?
I assume that's within ad creation or once you're looking at an ad campaign from the Manage tab maybe and drilling in and seeing like a real preview of what that looks like. I know we have a fairly basic representation now, so definitely noting that I don't have current plans, but good feedback. I don't know Vereen, if you have anything else?
No, just echoing that. I actually haven't heard that one before, so good feedback to know.
Joul c asks, can HubSpot track all Google Ad interactions like phone link clicks?
Yep, I believe ad interactions we can count if they're on mobile or desktop.
Great. Chad is back again. Market Sharp offers lead source tracking essentially like the Ads tool, but you can add as many lead sources as you want and each lead source also has a manual ledger for the accounting team to commit transactions of their spend. Has the ads team ever considered anything similar for being able to create ROI reports for offline ad sources or lead sources? We talked about offline a little bit.
Already, so I'm just trying to find the question on my screen so I can also read it along.
I don't blame you. It's from Chad 11:12am.
The idea of Having a manual ledger for the accounting team to commit transaction to their spend. We, I don't, I don't think we offer that for like a particular I guess lead source, but I guess we do offer like total amounts done, but we definitely don't offer like a ledger for accounting team. We haven't considered that at all. That's like the first, it's actually the first time I've heard that. So that's. That. That's an interesting ass that I'll consider. And I guess in general the like, like the high level questions like where, like is there any plans to add broader ROI reporting? And the answer to that is that we do have plans to customize that dashboard that you saw originally that says interactions, contacts, leads. We have plans to have that be more customizable. Hopefully that can help you get a better bird's eye view in terms of roi. We definitely hear that customers want a bit more customization for their ROI just to be able to see better numbers. It's just, I think, I think a lot of our customers have been asking more for allowing more people to see that percent of ROI rather than more in depth drill down ROI as a ledger. But I think you should definitely post that to the ideas forum because I actually haven't seen that ledger idea before yet. More deep ROI reporting.
Great. A very important question for you, Erica, from Joshua. What is the cat's name?
Tortellini.
Oh, nice.
Yeah, she's a party cat.
Okay. This one from Scott might be a little too specific for a group question, but if there are general principles you want to share, that might be good. Are there any known issues between HubSpot and Facebook audiences? I have a campaign for which the audiences are very tightly controlled and feel like I keep hitting brick walls on both sides.
Yeah, this the issue with. The issue with a lot of like audiences and in general with the. Some of the things that we offer in the ads tool is that they're tied both into HubSpot's APIs and like Facebook's APIs. So when saying that there's like an issue with audiences, we need to I think dive a lot more deeper and to see like where it is from. Like if it is a HubSpot issue, if it is a Facebook issue, how do you resolve it for either case? And I think your best solution, Scott, is probably just to submit a support ticket. I know that seems like a wishy washy answer, but just because of the complexity of the ads tool, because they're operating with like other ad networks really like I, I, I could give you kind of general advice to follow, but I think the best way is to file a support ticket and actually get like a more concrete answer because they have tools that I don't have access to right now that can dive way deeper than I can.
Honestly. The support team at HubSpot is awesome and that last thing Varun just said is very important. They're not just super smart, they have cool support team only tools that can diagnose a lot of different stuff. When you get into thorny technical issues like this, it really is your best place to go. We'll take a couple more. Cindy asks, do ad conversion events work for customers who have created custom lifecycle stages or only for HubSpot default stages?
I can jump in if you want. It depends on the ad network. So for Google and LinkedIn lifecycle stage events, those use custom lifecycle stages. For Facebook, we do have a limitation where right now we're not allowing custom lifecycle stages to be used. It's possible that could change in the future. So if that's something you're looking for, please submit an Ideas form submission and we can always share that feedback back with Facebook. We just have a limitation with that right now.
Yeah, it's a Facebook side limitation, so we definitely had to wait on them, which is why we offer for the other networks.
Yep, cool feedback from me. Indiana. Angela says do a future session on leveraging Clearbit data. I did not have that idea, Angela, and Clearbit is not. I have not yet learned exactly how the Clearbit team has been integrated into the HubSpot team, but they are here now. And so that's an action item for me because we should absolutely do that. This we are now down at the long tail of questions that have gotten no upvotes or one up vote and we are nearing the top of the hour, so I think I'm gonna call it there. Varun and Erica, I guess just reiterate, there is that form in the chat. Everybody go. Leave the Q A. I know it looks exactly like the chat and we all get confused views on that, but if you go back towards the chat, we will, we will drop that. The chat name. Yeah, that URL in there again. Thanks, Deanna. You beat me to it. And then yes, recording will be shared afterward. Eric, Varun, Erica, beyond filling out that form and going to the Ideas Forum, which everyone that is the Ideas forum is a great place to be. I've been in so many meetings with the product team where they're like this thing had this many upvotes and now we delivered it. It really is like heavily relied on for product development. It's not just a place to send you. So you stop bothering us, I promise. But other than those two things, if people want to connect with you, are you on LinkedIn? What's your preference for what happens after this?
I am. Oh, sorry if I interrupted, but I'm available on LinkedIn. I don't know if my email is somewhere on this, but you can feel free to reach out by email. But yeah, LinkedIn, email, everything worked great for me.
Yeah, same. And we will be looking at all the submissions on that survey for sure. So you'll hear from us. If you decided to share your name and email, we'll absolutely reach out at some point. I'm also on LinkedIn. Feel free to reach out and ask a question and I'll probably move it into a email as well.
Great. Larika Varun, thanks so much for being here. All of you in the audience, thanks so much for attending and for asking so many great questions. I'm gonna go ahead and shut it down here, but hope to see you all back next week. Sa.
