This is a YouTube video titled "Can you SCALE your business with Notion?" containing a monologue or single-speaker discussion recorded in October 2024. The speaker explains the challenges and strategies of scaling business processes using Notion, emphasizing the trade-offs between software flexibility and management overhead as team size grows.
The stuff that we teach Inside ClickUp and SmartSuite is applicable inside of notion. Probably not where you're at, but where you're going to be once you hit like 20 people. Notion can become quite challenging because it is meant as it originally was started as kind of this student note taking, very personalized experience. When you add 20 people in there who are each personalizing, sometimes intentionally, sometimes not, it can be challenging to enforce a pipeline, a series of steps with no edits, no changes, no deviations. You can absolutely do it. The way you can overcome the flexibility of the software is adding rigidity in your policies and in your monitoring system so you can accomplish the same things. It'll just require a little bit more management from humans to make up for the flexibility of the software. Is the flexibility still a delight in most cases? It certainly can be, but there's always that two double edge when it comes to flexibility across the spectrum of software. The more flexible, the more management you typically need to do at scale.
