This is a YouTube video titled "Creative businesses need process, too. š§ " containing a monologue or talk recorded in April 2024. The speaker discusses the misconception that having a systemized business limits creativity, using the analogy of an artist organizing their materials to emphasize that processes free up mental space for true creative work.
If you have a systemized business, does that mean you're not creative? No, it means you're a systemized business. If you had an artist who always stored their paints in the same spot, always use the same brushes, always stretch their canvas in the same way, would you say they're not creative just because they have their brushes, their paint, and their canvas ready? No. You would say they have a process for the stuff that doesn't matter to them too much, like where they put their paints. And this means they can use all of their creativity on the thing that actually matters to them, which. Which is what goes on the canvas. Process done right allows you to build borders around these areas of your business or your life. So that way, when you're actually doing the creative thing, you can be fully focused on creativity and not thinking, oh, where did I put my paint? That's why it's a total myth to think that you can't be creative if you have an organized business.
