This is a YouTube video titled "Does this role call for hungry people?" containing a motivational or leadership talk recorded on October 1, 2024. The speaker discusses organizational culture, setting evolving performance expectations, and linking personal growth with compensation in a professional context. The content is a monologue without multiple speakers or a conversation involving George B. Thomas.
You've got to be really clear in your culture about, do you want people who are hungry and willing to grow or not? Because the expectation for somebody in the first three months is not going to be the same expectation you have for them six months and nine months later. And so you just need to be intentional in setting that. I believe in your potential so much and what you can do that these goals are realistic and achievable for this quarter. But those are not going to be my same goals as we continue to grow as an organization. A year from now. Like, those goals are going to be loftier, and that may feel unfair to team members. Like, wow, this bar. Just like, I can never do good enough. The bar just keeps changing. So the way that you talk about, communicate about, and message, that has to be clear that all of this creates more impact. I believe in your ability to grow and your potential to grow. And so the bar is going to keep changing. And I assume on the flip side, that you are hoping your compensation changes as well as we go, you can earn more, you can be more successful here, or your role here grows and evolves. But those two things are tied together. Like, what's the impact to the organization and how can we keep laddering that up and what's the impact to you personally and how can we keep laddering that up?
