Gray MacKenzie walks through DoInbound Title Formatter, a tool that auto-capitalizes titles and counts characters and words in real time. It's built for content creators who need to optimize titles quickly without switching between apps.
Hello and welcome back to yet another episode. Episode number 15 now of the Agency Toolbox podcast. This is Gray MacKenzie, and this week we are going to be looking at a really simple tool, a title formatter that we built here at DO Inbound to help content creators correctly capitalize and count their post titles. Really straightforward. I'm going to take you guys through it. You're going to understand it almost instantly. So get excited for that. Okay, so here it is, the DU inbound title formatter. Now, how this works is you start typing or you paste your copy in here. It's going to automatically capitalize it based on the rules that you select, and then it's going to allow you to copy it to the clipboard and it's also going to count your characters and words in real time. So one of the most, the single most common use of this tool is with a blog post title. We're looking for something that's probably in the 60 to 70 character range. We certainly don't want to go beyond that because it's going to cut off in most search results if we go far beyond that. So that's kind of the sweet spot that we're looking for. This kind of helps you in real time go through and see this. And that's the value of this tool. There's other tools out there that are awesome for capitalizing, other tools that are awesome for counting, but there was another tool out there that we found that did both at the same time. So just simplified things to have things together. So I'm gonna walk you through it real quickly. Okay, so there we go. There's my blog post title. It counted my characters, counted my words in real time. And what I can do from here, if I want to, without even using my mouse at all, I can just tab straight to copy to clipboard and go ahead and select that. I would like to copy that to the clipboard. I can choose if I'd rather have that be all uppercase. If I need to copy something in all uppercase for some reason, quickly transpose it all lowercase. Just capitalize the first letter of every word, regardless of the length or the type of word that it is, or go back to title case. So I have some options here for what I can do, and that's how that, that essentially works. The other thing that's in here is you can copy and paste in long pieces of text, or you can write long pieces of text in here and this box will automatically transform in height for you. So if I want to throw in obviously a big block of random text here. The box will continue to expand with me as far as I want to go. As I start to remove lines of this, it will contract back and give you those real time stats and then go copy that. If I'd like to, that'll copy to my clipboard and I can take that and paste it somewhere else. There's my my Lorem Ipsum for you. So it's a super simple tool. The goal here is simply I have it bookmarked, I can click it, I can type it in. Once the page loads, this will automatically be active. So I can just start typing, I can copy it and get my word count in real time tab away and I'm all set to go. So there you go. Really straightforward. There's more in planning to come to this tool around optimization, but just wanted to share this with you. If you are someone who works in content creation or you have content creators on your team and this is something where it's a super small detail. Do we get the right number of characters, what's our word count and do we get the capitalization right? Super small details that make a difference in the content and the impression that you leave on your audience. So hope that helps you. Stay tuned for next week when I'm going to be back with another productivity app tip for you guys and I will talk to you then.
