Forms | HubSpot Admins HUG

Ian, HubSpot's Forms PM, walks through a redesigned Forms editor with multi-step forms, expanded styling, and AI property connector in beta. Coming soon: conditional logic, conditional redirects, and form data in Custom Report Builder.

And Dana for inviting me. It's been a little while in the works. I think for those who joined a little bit early, they heard the story of Kyle reaching out after a previous hug event. Last year I shared some insights of what the forms team were planning to work on in 2024. And from there it became a pretty obvious next step to present at this event when it was appropriate. And now is that time. So without further ado, let me start with a quick introduction. My name is Ian and I'm the product manager on the forms team and I'm based in the beautiful city of Cork on the south coast of Ireland. My colleague Sabri, who works on the submissions team, was due to join us today. You may have seen that on the signup page. Unfortunately he won't be able to make it and so in his place I'll do the best that I can to cover some of the submissions related topics that we planned to cover and then any specific questions. If there is anything that I can't answer live and this applies to forms as well as to submissions topics, I'll share a link to a form at the end and you can submit your questions and I or the team will follow up where we need to. So I guess maybe set some context. I've been working on forms for about two years and over that time actually am I one month away from my hub? First me, my two year hubversary? I think I am actually today. And in that time we've launched a bunch of cool things, but I don't think that any of them compare to what we're going to talk about today. And so yeah, I'm really excited to get started. What we're going to cover is a little bit about the state of forms and some history, campaigns success and looking at the chat yet there's a decent amount of alignment with those problems. I can imagine there's folks here who are, who are also struggling with those. And so I guess the question you're probably asking is what's new in forms? What are we going to do about it? And so in the next couple of slides I'm going to share what's new in forms. At the moment this is mostly features that are in limited, limited betas. And then I'm going to do a really quick demo of some of those features and then afterwards I'll talk about some of the stuff that we're working on now and what's coming for the next couple of months. And so to kick things off, what I want to share is that we're working on a new forms editor and that new Forms editor comes with a whole lot of new features. The first one that I want to share with you today is multi step forms. I've seen. I think this is one of the most common things that people have been mentioning in single step forms. They keep website visitors engaged by breaking forms down into manageable parts, reducing abandonment rates, giving visitors a sense of accomplishment, and ultimately resulting in more visitors completing them. This is a long awaited request from customers and I'm really excited to say that this is in a limited private beta at the moment and it is going to be available across all products in Starter plus plans. The other feature that I want to talk about today is a bunch of new styling capabilities that we've added to forms. I mentioned earlier that we've heard too often that it can be easy to spot HubSpot forms on a web page and so we're changing that. And there's a couple of reasons for this. Clear and visually distinct elements make navigating forms easier and aesthetically pleasing. Forms make it more likely that visitors convert. But forms are also a point of pride. We put them on our websites and we want to make sure that they match the branding and aesthetic that we have set on our landing pages. And this is also currently in a limited private beta and I'll do a little bit of a demo in a second to show you. This year we're really getting back to reinventing forms as a product in its own right and helping marketers specifically to engage with their website visitors in delightful ways that convert those visitors into leads, prospects and eventually customers. Before I go any further, I do want to use this as an opportunity to gather some feedback from you folks. And so if there's things that you're struggling with when it comes to lead generation, whether that's the absence of features and or specific struggles with building forms, you might drop them in the chat. We're going to spend some time reading through them and if we don't get a chance to circle back to them in Q and A or if I don't cover them today, I can make sure that we follow up with folks. So if you can take a minute to do that. Okay. Multi step forms. Blog comments and forms. Multiple conditions Routing Multi step forms. Multi step forms with logic. Multi step form. Okay, yeah, we hear you. There's a bunch of common themes in here and yeah, I'm excited to cover some of those off, plus the others that people are mentioning. Let me have a quick look. Signatures, form fields that don't need to be connected Properties. Interesting one. Okay, lots, lots of things coming in here. We'll circle back to some of these over the course of the next couple of minutes and touch on some others in Q and A. And so you've mentioned a bunch of things, features specifically that you'd love to see in forms. I guess what I want wanted to cover some of the quotes that people have shared with us. Some of the really common ones we get are, you know my forms don't match my brand's look and feel and they make me not so proud of this form that I put on my website. It looks like it sticks out like a sore thumb. In fact we've heard a bunch and it's a bit of a gut wrench. Really easy to spot HubSpot forms on on websites and and so we'll touch on on what we're doing about that in the form submissions. If you've been in the community forum anytime lately, you'll probably be familiar with this idea. I think it's the top voted forms idea something super admins the tools to delete submissions and they also have the ability to delegate that to anyone in their portal that needs the necessary permissions to delete those. This is also in a limited private beta at the moment. And so next what I'm going to do is show second the others are needing to capture information from from visitors to help qualify them which makes can sometimes make their forms really long. Others are segmenting their visitors, asking them one set of visitors one set of questions and another set of visitors another reducing the amount of irrelevant questions that get asked, personalizing the post submissions experience and guiding visitors to the next logical step higher quality data. In the CRM I see some people have mentioned recaptcha and a bunch of other features that support that and then trying to get an understanding of how forms are performing and how they're contributing to your campaign's success. And looking at the chat, yeah there's a decent amount of alignment with those problems. I can imagine there's folks here who are, who are also struggling with those. And so I guess the question you're probably asking is what's new in forms? What are we going to do about it? And so in the next couple of slides I'm going to share what's new in forms. At the moment this is mostly features that are in limited, limited betas and then I'm going to do a really quick demo of some of those features and then afterwards I'll talk about some of the stuff that we're working on now and what's coming for the next couple of months. And so to kick things off, what I want to share is that we're working on a new Forms editor and that new Forms editor comes with a whole lot of new features. The first one that I want to share with you today is multi step forms. I've seen. I think this is one of the most common things that people have been mentioning in the in the chat and it won't come as a surprise that multi step forms can convert significantly higher than single step forms. I mentioned earlier that we've heard too often that it can be easy to spot HubSpot forms on a webpage, and so we're changing that. And there's a couple of reasons for this. Clear and visually distinct elements make navigating forms easier and aesthetically pleasing forms make it more likely that visitors convert. But forms are also a point of pride. We put them on our websites and we want to make sure that they match the branding and aesthetic that we have set on our landing pages or on our website pages. And so we're adding a bunch of new styling capabilities to support with this. This is also currently in a limited private beta and I'll do a little bit of a demo in a second to show you the new stuff that we've added here. The other one that I want to talk about is deleting form submissions. If you've been in the community forum anytime lately, you'll probably be familiar with this idea. I think it's the top voted forms idea, something that's been asked for a long time, something that on the surface sounds reasonably straightforward, but in the background was a complex piece for us to unravel. And, and the reason people want this is, or the reasons we hear for people wanting this is that you're often testing, submitting your forms or receiving submissions from bad actors. And these tests and bad submissions can impact your analytics and create problems for reporting and analyzing the success of your campaigns. And so with deleting submissions, we're now giving super admins the tools to delete submissions, and they also have the ability to delegate that to anyone in their portal that needs the necessary permissions to delete those. This is also in a limited private beta at the moment. And so next what I'm going to do is show a quick demo of this in action. And so, let me see. Yeah, cool, this is working. And so in the forms app, now, you've got the same dashboard, dashboard view, the same Create Forms button, but once you click this, the experience is a little bit different. You've got an option to access the legacy Forms editor, the one that exists today, and you've also got a new option which is to access the new Forms editor. And if you go ahead and access this, you'll see that you land on an experience that may seem familiar to you. If you've been using the cms, you may recognize this pattern as being familiar. The the experience is multi step by default, and so you can do things like adding steps to your form. It's also wysiwyg and so you can just grab fields and add them to your forms. And you can also connect these fields to properties. And something interesting about this is that this search is powered by AI. And so something that frequently happens is that you have a label that you want to apply to a field or question maybe you want to ask a visitor, and that might not always line up with exactly what you've called that property in your CRM. And that can create a frustrating experience searching for these properties. So let's say I want to ask what is your income? And I should get an option live demo. I should get my. The option that I should get here is annual revenue. Remember, this product is still in beta, and so maybe there's a little bit of funniness going on in the background, but the idea here being that we'll do some fuzzy matches on the kind of label that you're putting on your field and the values that you've got in your CRM in an effort to better connect your fields to your properties. Some of the other things that you can do here is lots of new styling capabilities. And so I won't go through these in a lot of detail, but there's a whole host of new features we've got here for styling your fields as well as styling your buttons, your thank you messages, and the background of your forms. If we were to do a hug event in two to three months time, we'd have a bunch more exciting stuff that we could share here. But I maybe save that for another day before I move on. Go ahead.
Bob asked a question that I was also wondering. You can connect these fields to Properties, but you don't have to.
That's not correct actually. So by default you need to connect these fields to Properties, at least for now. Next thing I want to show is a form that I created earlier. And you can see here that I've got a multi step form that's got a nice image at the top, some fields about the contact that I want to gather on the first step. First name, last name and email address. And then on the second step I'm going to gather some information about the company. So the industry, company name, job title and the number of employees. If I was to go ahead and get the share link for this form and open it in a new tab, you can see that this is now embedded on a share page. It's multi step. I think it might be pre filling with Kyle because I was doing some testing on this earlier. But this is a multi step and can be. Go ahead and submit it like this then. If I was to go to the submissions for this form which should be in here, you can see that I've got three submissions, I can go ahead and select a submission and I can now go ahead and delete it. And that will go ahead and delete the submission from the form, it'll delete the data from the CRM and then it will also tidy up any of the reporting and analytics in the background. A simple thing, but a nice quality of life improvement. Next thing I want to talk about is what's coming, what's coming next. And so I've shared that we've got a limited beta for multi step forms and for styling and then for deleting submissions. But that's not all we're working on. There's also a bunch of other exciting improvements that we're going to be delivering over the next couple of months. The first one that I want to share is conditional logic. And so conditional logic allows you to only show relevant questions to users based on their previous responses. And so this can reduce the amount of time that visitors spend on redundant questions, creating this kind of feeling of thoughtful, customized interaction. And the features that we're making available here are showing and hiding fields, which is an existing feature in the forms tool today. The new one that we're adding is skipping steps. Another exciting one we've heard of for a while is and and or conditions and so you can create some complex logic rules and then the other is the ability to add multiple levels of dependent fields. Today the limit is just one. And that's a real point of frustration. In fact, a bunch of these things have been a point of frustration for customers for a little while now. If you are familiar with the Ideas portal and you're keen eyed, you'll notice that we get a bunch of requests for different conditional logic features all the time. And I think the total for JIR is maybe 1200 votes, something like that, spread across four or five ideas. And this feature is currently in development. We'll be extending this to a limited private beta later in the year and I'll have a form at the end if you're interested in participating in this. We can make sure to follow up with this to follow up with you if you're interested once we've got a beta available. The other thing that I wanted to talk about is conditional redirects. And so conditional redirects allow you to direct your leads to the next best action, whether that be booking a meeting, going to a thank you page or being redirected to a landing page that's got follow up resources that you want to share with your leads. You can pretty smoothly guide them to a logical next step and create a more personalized experience. The features that we're making available here are redirecting to HubSpot pages, external URLs and meeting scheduling pages. And of course this is all has the same features as previously, so you can conditionally redirect to. Conditionally redirect using multiple conditions to these resources. This is also currently in development. It's very tied very closely to the conditional logic work that we're doing. And so again we'll be having a limited private beta for this in the not too distant future. If you're interested in participating, you will be able to fill out a form at the end, provider details. We'll make sure to follow up when it's available. And I can see, yeah, there's a bunch of questions about this in the, in the chat. We might come back to these in Q and A at the, at the end. The other thing that I want to share is also a pretty common request from customers. It's forms data in the customer Report builder. And so growing companies need access to important data. Sometimes it can be spread across forms, CTAs, landing pages, a bunch of other places. And there's been a missing piece of information in looking at that journey end to end for a while now. And that's being forms data. And the exciting news is that The Custom Report Builder will support submission data pretty soon. This is also in development and like the previous examples that I shared, we'll have a form at the end where you can express interest in participating in a beta for this as soon as it's available. And yeah, quick summary then I mentioned, because I covered a lot here, I mentioned at the beginning that, you know, over, over my time working on forms over the last couple of years we've worked on some platform wide features like adding simple automation to forms, payment forms, multiple payment links, spam submissions, redirecting to meeting scheduling pages and a bunch of other additions. But I think the things that I'm most excited about are what's in private beta at the moment. So that's multi step forms, a bunch of styling improvements, deleting form submissions, and that AI property connector and the stuff that's in development, conditional logic, conditional redirects, layout options, form submissions in the Custom Report Builder. Two things I didn't touch on where CRM property validation informs and embed components and I don't think that covers everything. There's probably some smaller features, but I'm conscious of the time I've taken to go through that and those are definitely the highlights. If there's things that you're really excited about, we'd love to hear about them in the chat. And if there's things that you think should be behind that more coming soon that we should consider, I'd love to see your feedback on that too because we can make sure on the right track with what we're planning next or that if it wasn't on our radar, we get some signal here that we should adjust our priorities. And so to wrap up then, I want to say thank you. Thank you to Kyle and Dana for giving me the opportunity to speak. Thank you to all the folks who are here for listening for the last 15 or so minutes. If you do want, before I jump into Q and A, I just want to highlight that if you do want to be one of the forms customers that gets early access to beta features, then I'll share a link to a form in the chat. In a couple of minutes time you can fill that out, express your interest and we'll make sure to reach out as soon as we have betas available. Thank you. Thank you.
Yeah, everybody head over to the Q and A. We already have more than 60 questions in there. Feel free to add more. It's going up. All right, be sure to look through the questions and upvote them. We will work most upvotes to least upvotes to try to focus on the questions that impact most people. Ian, I, I suspect you are underestimating how excited the people in this room would be about CRM property validation. So does that just mean that the validation rules we now have in the CRM would work on the front end for customers too?
That's right. Yeah, exactly. So I think last year we released the opportunity to have like minimum and maximum number of values in fields, specifying that certain properties needed to be numeric values only, certain needed to be unique, and we're bringing all of that validation to forms as the channel that you get your submissions through.
Amazing. As Chad says, hot diggity.
Nice.
Great. So everybody go over to the Q and A upvote. We'll give you, I don't know, 10 or 15 more seconds. Nick needs to reattach his jaw. We'll get there.
All right. I lost track of the chat as I was going, as I was going through things.
Yeah, it happens. You should, I mean, I, I, I'm, I think after this I'll just export it out and share it with your team because it's all fuzzies. Everybody's just so excited by everything you have said. So hold on to that.
For, for the one, Sorry, for the one commenter who asked him, is this is it Ryan? Ryan Reynolds. That gave me a giggle. Okay, cool.
So I am now sorting the Q and A by most voted currently with 28 upvotes. Paul asks, does the next button in a multi step form submit the data or do we receive no data until they press submit on the final step? Well, that's a good admin question. See, this is the kind of group you got here.
Yeah, excellent question. So to begin with, the approach that we've taken is to submit all of the data at the end. And so we're not handling partial submissions or we're not giving visitors the opportunity to pop pause their form and finish it later. At least that's our stance right now. There's a couple of reasons that we took that view to begin with. One, it kind of solves for the broadest number of use cases. HubSpot has customers in a bunch of different countries. Some of them have really strict data privacy laws and things that they advise around how actionable the data that is submitted might be if you don't gather consent. And so we decided to make the decision initially to require you to submit the form for all of the data to be submitted. That's one of the things I'd love to get Some feedback on the form I'll share at the end will have a text field where you can give some feedback about how you might like that to work and what the implications might be for you when it comes to privacy. But the answer to the question for now, all of the data will get submitted once the form is submitted, not when the step is submitted.
Next up, is there any option to add a progress bar?
Nice. Good spot. Not at the moment, but it is. On our roadmap, when we were ruthlessly prioritizing a bunch of the improvements that we wanted to bring to forms over the next year, Progress bar was one of the ones we decided we'd like to work on later. And so I don't have a specific timeline for it right now, but it is our intention to work on that later this year.
Cool. Will we ever be able to limit the number of submissions on a title.
And the number of employees? If I was to go ahead and get the share link for this form and open it in a new tab, you can see that this is now embedded on a share page. It's multi step. I think it might be pre filling with Kyle because I was doing some testing on this earlier. But this is a multi step and can be go ahead and submit it like this then. If I was to go to the submissions for this form which should be in here, you can see that I've got three submissions. I can go ahead and select a submission and I can now go ahead and delete it. And that will go ahead and delete the submission from the form, it'll delete the data from the CRM and then it will also tidy up any of the reporting and analytics in the background. A simple thing, but a nice quality of life improvement. Next thing I want to talk about is what's coming, what's coming next? And so I've shared that we've got a limited beta for multi step forms and for styling and then for deleting submissions. But that's not all we're working on. There's also a bunch of other exciting improvements that we're going to be delivering over the next couple of months. The first one that I want to share is conditional logic. And so conditional logic allows you to only show relevant questions to users based on their previous responses. And so this can reduce the amount of time that visitors spend on redundant questions, creating this kind of feeling of thoughtful, customized interaction. And the features that we're making available here are showing and hiding fields, which is an existing feature in the Forms tool. Today, the new One that we're adding is skipping steps. And I think the total for JIR is maybe 1200 votes, something like that. I spread across four or five ideas. And so conditional redirects allow you to direct your leads to the next best action, whether that be booking a meeting, going to a thank you page or being redirected to a landing page that that's got follow up resources that you want to share with your leads. You can pretty smoothly guide them to a logical next step and create a more personalized experience. Start it quicker, making it easier to create forms that align with the use case that they have in mind where they're hoping to generate submissions, the kind of styling that they want to apply. And so we're looking at that use case being one the other. I think the one that was mentioned here is maybe more related to in bigger organizations. I want to have some standardization across my forms and is there maybe an opportunity for, for me to create Ian's template for, for the marketing department or, or Kyle's template? If we haven't explored that in as much, in as much detail. But I'd love to chat to this person if they want to express interest in participating in the beta and add some details in the comment about that. I think we can, we can reach out as we start exploring templates in a bit more detail. Great.
Kyle.
Yeah.
Before, before you move to the next one, we've got a lot of upvotes on some questions that just made it in. So if you refresh to uploading.
Yeah. So those of you who are longtime admin hug attendees know we have had an up and down relationship with the.
Features that we're making available here are redirecting to HubSpot pages, external URLs and meeting scheduling pages. And of course this is all has the same features as previously so you can conditionally redirect to conditionally redirect using multiple conditions to these resources. This is also currently in development. It's very tied very closely to the conditional logic work that we're doing and so again we'll be having a limited private beta for this in the not too distant future. If you're interested in participating. You will be able to fill out a form at the end provider details. We'll make sure to follow up when it's available. And I can see yeah there's a bunch of questions about this in the in the chat. We might come back to these in Q and A the at the end. The other thing that I want to share is also a pretty common bevy.
Has been performing really well lately but I am getting so much lag trying to load the Q and A right now and so I was sorting it between every question and then questions were taking forever to load so I have not been sorting. But yeah, feel free to call that out anytime if there's a question that we should be getting to sooner. So Taylor asks can we please make it possible to send customers a copy of their form submission?
Can we please make it possible to send a customer copy their form submissions? Interesting question. I think this would be I haven't tested this in question customers. It's forms data in the custom report builder and so growing companies need access to end to end but I think this would be possible today. Using workflows. Sure.
And an email with personalization tokens.
Exactly. Great.
Laura asks does the multiform work in a cta?
Pop up Great question and not right now. So the private beta that we've got right now I mentioned that there's some limitations with that. One of those is embedding forms in CTAs but it is our plan to have that this year.
How are those multi step forms going to work in embed mode for example.
Important data sometimes it can be spread across forms, CTAs, landing pages, a bunch of other places and there's been a missing piece of information in looking at that journey end to end for a while now and that's been forms data and the exciting news is that the custom report builder will support submission data pretty soon. This is also in development and like the previous examples that I shared we'll have A form at the end where you can express interest in participating in a beta for this as soon as it's available. And yeah, quick summary then. Interesting question. So the multiple. There's a couple of ways you can interact with forms today. Some customers interact with those as developers and they've got lots of customization that they do of those forms. And then there's kind of a more simplistic. I just want to copy this embed code and edit for the Multi Step Forms beta that exists today. All of the forms are within an iframe and so if you, you put that in any CMS or any, in any webpage, they should render as you see in the editor. That's the beauty of moving towards wysiwyg. We'll follow up maybe in the future with some more developer kind of tools to more customize your forms. But to begin with, all forms will be embedded in an iframe and that should make it pretty easy to put them wherever it is that you need to across the web.
Ian, can you drop the link to the form you're referencing? There's a ton of requests, they're putting them on the survey that we're doing.
But absolutely, let me grab the link. Now I mentioned, because I covered a lot here, I mentioned at the beginning that, you know, over, over my time working on forms over the last couple of years we've worked on some platform wide features like adding simple automation to forms, payment forms, multiple payment links, spam submissions, redirecting to meeting scheduling pages and a bunch of other additions. But I think the things that I'm most excited about are what's in private beta at the moment. So that's Multi step forms, a bunch of styling improvements, deleting form submissions, and that AI property connector. Now just one second.
I promise I'll share what's already been submitted with Ian. No worries.
Now I'm after using Bevy. Here we go. Oh no, here it is. Cool. Will I just drop this in the. Do you want me to drop it in the Q and A or in the chat?
You can drop it in the chat.
Here we go.
And I'm remembering right that at the beginning you said this is a multi step form. So even if you don't want to participate in the betas, folks, go check it out. Go see what a multi step HubSpot form looks like.
This is called stress testing your form.
Yes, indeed. Frank asks, wondering if there are plans to make form submissions more reportable. The flexibility of the performance tab is limited and form submissions aren't a reportable object. This might be more of a reporting question come to think of it.
Great question. I think supporting submissions data and custom Report Builder is the and the stuff that's in development Conditional logic, conditional redirects layout options form submissions in the custom Report Builder. Two things I also I didn't touch on were CRM property validation, informs and embed components. And I don't think that covers everything. There's probably some smaller features but I'm conscious of the time I've taken to go through that and those are definitely the. Those are definitely the highlights. If there's things that you're really excited about, we'd love to hear about them in the chat. And if there's things that you think should be behind that is the ticket here. Once that's available, you should be able to report on submissions to your heart's content. Great.
Next question is how do we join the beta? So the form is now in the chat so find that Will there be improved reporting on forms et use form submissions data in the customer Report Builder? Maybe this is a question for the Forbes team. So common theme here in the Q and A. Is there a way we can add or use different forms per pipeline?
Interesting question. I get this might be related to ticket pipelines or maybe it's related to deal pipelines. I'm not sure. It's not something that's within our immediate focus at least for this year.
So just maybe sort of related one.
Of the more coming soon that we that we should consider. I'd love to see your your feedback on that. That too because we can make sure.
The points you showed but didn't talk about was component embeds.
Yes, embed components.
Embed components. Got it backwards. What, what is that where Great question.
Some of the components on forms like submit buttons for example, or the way that we render we're on the right track with what we're planning next or that if it wasn't on our radar we get some signal here that we should adjust our priorities. And so to wrap up then I want to say thank you. Thank you to Kyle and Dana for giving me the opportunity to speak. Thank you to all the folks who are here for listening for the last 15 or so minutes. If you do want, before I jump into Q and A, I just want to highlight that if you do want to be one of the forms customers that gets early access to beta features and then loading states, we see some opportunities to make them I guess more aesthetically pleasing. And so we've added A bunch of new embed components for submit buttons, drop down fields, phone fields, basically every field that a visitor interacts with. And so now when you open those dropdowns or you close those dropdowns or you all share a link to a form in the chat in a couple of minutes time, you can fill it out, express your interest and we'll make sure to reach out as soon as we have betas available. Thank you. Thank you. Select values within them or we show error messages. They're all just a little bit crisper and more visually appealing. You might not recognize them if you've just looked at a new editor form right. Right away. It can be. Can be. They're subtle and maybe a little bit difficult to spot, but certainly when you compare side by side, you can, you can see the difference. And our hope is that it'll. Between the new components and the new styling capabilities we've added, it should be much easier to make those forms look modern and yours.
Great. Is there any way to understand in which tier or level plan are the new development updates going to be added? Just for me to avoid being excited about logical conditioning when my account is only pro.
Good question. So as it relates to logic, conditional logic and conditional redirects, the majority of those features are going to be available in.
Yeah, let everybody head over to the Q and A. We already have more than 60 questions in there. Feel free to add more. It's going up. All right. Be sure to look through the questions and upvote them. We will work most upvotes to least upvotes to try to focus on the questions that impact most people. Ian, I, I suspect you are, you are underestimating how excited the people in this room would be about CRM property validation. So does that just mean that the validation rules we now have in the CRM would work on the front end for customers too?
That's right. Yeah, exactly. For a Marketing Hub, there is some nuance when it comes to Service Hub and Sales Hub and how we're packaging those. But our intention within Marketing Hub is that there'll be proplus features. The nuance around Sales Hub, we're still working out some of the details there. When we launched. When we launch the private beta, we'll be able to share a little bit more about that.
Great. Is the delete option a separate permission? I don't think I want everyone with form access to delete forms.
So I think last year we released the opportunity to have like a minimum and maximum number of values in fields specifying that certain Properties needed to be numeric values only. Certain.
Call me ocd.
Good question. So to begin with, it's available to super admins only and those super admins can then delegate that permission to individuals who need it. And so to begin with, no, not everyone, not everyone in your organization or in Your, in your HubSpot portal can, can do that. You, you have the, the power to delegate that to individuals.
This one is not a question, it's a, it's a feature request adding email block list so we can update globally.
Instead of per form that needed to be unique. And we're bringing all of that validation to forms as the channel that you get your submissions through.
Amazing. As Chad says, hot diggity.
Nice. Great.
So everybody go over to the Q and A upvote. We'll give you, I don't know, 10 or 15.
Yeah, not something that's on our immediate roadmap, but certainly something that we get feedback on when we're continuing to monitor.
Could we possibly be able to unpublish forms at some point? So you already spoke to the technical difficulties there, but is that something you're working toward?
Yeah. So the goal, I guess the first step that we need to do is ensure that we have a draft state for a form which doesn't. It's a brand new state that doesn't exist today. Our plan is to. Is to implement that this year and then that's kind of the enabler to unpublished forms or cap submissions and that's probably something that we'll look at next year.
Can the new Multi step form builder still do raw HTML output?
Great question. And not in its, not in its current. Not in its current form. But that is something that we would like to make available to folks to better customize forms, but it's not available today. Likely something that we'll work on towards the end of the year.
Okay, these next few we've already answered but I'm going to read them out to you just rapidly so you can know that more people were asking these things. How can we get added to more seconds? Nick needs to reattach his jaw. Well, we'll get there. The beta. Will the multi step form support creating multiple contacts perform? Will we be able to track a customer through each step of a multi step form? So if they. It's a three step form but they only get to step one, will we have that? Will we be able to get stats on form abandons at different steps? Ooh, here's an important one. Are all of these updates retroactive to Existing forms or will some be available on newly created forms only once this reaches production?
Great question. I think in the, in, in the. All right, I lost, I lost track of the, I lost track of the chat as I was, as I was going, as I was going through things.
Yeah, it happens. You should, I mean I, I, I, I'm, I think after this I'll just export it out and share it with your team because it's all fuzzies. Everybody's just so excited by everything you have said. So hold on.
Demo portion that I went through, I showed you in the forms app creating a form and having the option of whether you wanted to create that form in the editor that exists today or in the new editor. And so all of these changes will apply to forms that are in the new editor. They're not features that are coming to existing forms. For the one, Sorry, for the one commenter who asked him, is it Ryan Reynolds? That gave me a giggle. Okay, cool.
So I am now sorting the Q and A by most voted currently with 28 upvotes.
And so at least to begin with, you'll have the opportunity to create forms in the new editor and then replace your existing forms. There is likely some opportunities for us to move some forms automatically.
Paul asks, does the next button in a multi step form submit the data or do we receive no data until.
They press submit in the future? But there's also scenarios where that's unlikely to be the case depending on how those forms are configured. So to begin with, it's a new editor. That's where the new features are going. You can create your forms there and replace your existing ones in the future. It's possible we'll look at moving some of those forms, but it's not likely to be something that we can do in all cases. So we're not making any commitments to automatically move form.
You seem to be in an interesting moment in HubSpot's maturation where CTA is going through a thing like that and the transition from Inbox to Help Desk. Right. Moving channels are like we're having. We're releasing tools that are so new and such a step up from the old tools that like a migration feature is necessary to get the old data to the new spot and yeah, absolutely. Spot's going to figure out and get good at.
Yeah, for sure. I think the word I used to during the presentation was reinvention and that's definitely something that's happening not just with forms. You mentioned CTAs. I see that with a bunch of other tools. We're trying to make a step change and sometimes that means drawing a line in the stand and starting from fresh.
On the final step. That's a good admin question. See, this is the kind of group you got here.
Yeah, excellent question. So to begin with, the approach that we've taken is to submit all of the data at the end. And so we're not handling partial submissions or we're not giving visitors the opportunity to pause their form and finish it later. At least that's our stance right now. There's a couple of reasons that we took that.
Yeah, I remember when Windows XP came out and they're like no backwards compatibility and everybody lost their minds. Like what? I guess Microsoft didn't want to keep the Windows 95 aesthetic forever. I don't know. Can we pass prior step values into things like question text? Thanks. First name. Now what's your favorite color?
Oh, great question. This is not something that we plan to support this year, but something that we're really curious to view to begin with. One, it kind of solves for the broadest number of use cases HubSpot has customers to look at in the future. I've seen this done on other forums and it can create a sense of a really thoughtful and not just personalized experience, but a very personal experience. And our hypothesis will be that doing that has an impact on conversion rate. But we've just got a bunch of higher priority stuff that we're we're going to try and ship this year and that that's transparently not not something that's on our on our radar, at least in the a bunch of different countries. Some of them have really strict data privacy laws and things that they advise around how actionable the data that is submitted might be if you don't gather consent at least in the next year. Got it.
Will dependent form fields link up with conditional property logic? We can already either set fill in property X when setting a value for a property A and show limited options depending on previous value. For example, if I select country US, make me select one of the US States. We are already setting up that logic. It would be great if it not only applies when manually entering data in the CRM, but on forms as well.
Great question. And so this isn't something that we're planning to ship and so we decided to make the decision initially to require you to submit the form for all of the data to be submitted. That's one of the things I'd love to get some feedback on the form I'll share at the end with the conditional logic and conditional redirects Beta. That's in the not too distant future, but we are actively working with the CRM Properties team to try and figure out how we might make that a reality. We'll have a text field where you can give some feedback about how you might like that to work and what the implications might be. And there's a little bit of technical nuance to work through there. And then there's also transparently some user experience questions that we've got. Like for example, does it make sense in all KP4U when it comes to privacy? But the answer to the question for now, all of the data will get submitted once the form is submitted, not when the step is submitted.
Next up, is there any option to.
For you to expose your CRM property logic to visitors? Sometimes that stuff might be internal and.
Relevant for add a progress bar.
Nice. Good spot. Not at the moment, but it is on our roadmap when we were ruthlessly prioritizing a bunch of the improvements for your sales teams or service teams or success teams and other times it might be relevant for those teams and your visitors. And so we're working through some of those kind of open visitor experience questions, internal user experience questions, and then some of the technical details at the moment. We'd love to support this, but we need to work through some of those first. And it's not in the release that we're planning in the not too distant future.
Sure. AI property connector so Genai that we.
Wanted to bring to forms over the next year Progress bar was one of the ones we decided we'd like to work on later. And so I don't have a specific timeline for it right now, but it is our intention to work on that later this year.
Cool. Will we ever be able to limit the number of submissions on will help us identifying good and bad leads from submissions.
Question mark Question mark Question mark Question mark Great question. That sounds a little bit more exciting, but I don't want to take away from the impact of the property connector. I think the problem that we're trying to solve here and the behavior that.
We saw in form we use HubSpot forms for in person event registration and oftentimes the events have attendee caps. Being able to limit submissions to a certain number would be epic.
Nice. This is a great question. A very common existing editor is frequently people call their properties one thing revenue and on their forms they ask their visitors a question like what is your revenue? Or what is your income? Or what is your turnover. And sometimes it can be hard for the marketer to find the CRM property or the marketer salesperson, service, whoever's building a form to identify the right property to connect their. Their field to or just find the right property, one that gets upvoted on the ideas portal. In fact, there's. There's two different ideas there. One is around limiting form submissions once they get to a certain amount, and the other one is unpublishing. And so what we're doing is a little bit of fuzzy matching to figure out which property descriptions best match the questions you're asking on your form and making it easier to connect those fields to properties so that then you're getting the right data in the right properties in your CRM and do all of the wonderful things that you do downstream of form submissions. So maybe a little bit more form and they're both somewhat related. I maybe have to give some technical symbol within the question that was asked, but impactful nonetheless.
Sure. Is there a roadmap or time frame for these releases? And here HubSpot's legal team would appreciate it if I call out that product. Roadmap maps are invariably subject to change and we promise nothing but I don't know. You answer the question however you want.
Yeah, great. Great question. I think there's a bunch of context because there's some stepping stones for us to enable that today. When you create a form in the background, we publish the form right away. That's not necessarily a problem because the form isn't embedded anywhere. And so it's not. It's. Nobody's seeing it, nobody's generating, nobody's able to submit it. But technically that's how it works. And it's difficult to. For things in there that are in. That are in private beta. And so you should expect to see them becoming available over the next couple of months. There's a couple of other things that I mentioned that are. That are in development and you should expect to see them available to customers because of that. To unpublish a form because there is no draft state for a form and so we don't have a state for the end of the year.
Oh boy. I would love to be able to create lookups and other objects in forms that is that a contact can select their company and automatically be associated with it. Same functionality for custom objects, please. Smiley face.
Good question. The way that I'm interpreting this is that, for example, rather than having a dropdown field with 100 values in it, you might be able to Search that drop down field for a specific value example your company name. We here to put that form back into to say this once was a form that was published and generating submissions and now it's in a draft, in a draft state or no longer published state. And so the first step that we need to take to allow you to either unpublish forms based on specific caps or just generally unpublished forms and stop gathering submissions is we need to introduce a draft state. And so that's a piece of work that's kind of a thread of work that's quite a bit particularly where customers have like really long dropdowns for example or lists of things that they want to connect. One of the challenges that we have with that or that we've bumped into as we've explored that is you don't always necessarily want to expose a list of your customers, for example, following us as we go through this year and an enabler for limiting submissions and unpublishing forms, which is where that we'd love to take on next year but we don't have any specific commitment to that just yet until we have that, that draft state in place.
Yeah, makes sense. Does the multi step form also provide analytics for abandoned forms?
Great question. And not in the application. Not in the application to anyone who's filling out a form. And so there is a large potential there to leak data. And the primary use case for forms is external. We do have a lot of customers who use them for like internal use cases and maybe at the moment we don't have specific events for viewing and in those scenarios it's appropriate but for the generating leading individual steps. But it is something that we'd love to get some feedback on some specific challenges and getting signups for webinars. It's not a strong, it's not a strong requirement that we've heard and the risks kind of don't offset the rewards. But if I've misinterpreted that at all, you can fill out the form, provide some information about that and I'd be more than happy to reach out and clarify. We're happy to change our position when challenged if you put a good case together. Sure.
Okay. David I'm going to guess was here last week. His question is how will multi step forms work with Clearbit form shortening?
Good question. Yeah, the Clearbit folks have an awesome feature around form shortening. It's not. We have there are or some specific things we're wondering about is how would we normalize the reporting of that for a form that has two to three steps versus a form that has five to 10 steps. And so if you, if you're interested specifically in reporting on abandonment rates in the, in the app and have some ideas about how you'd like to see that visualized something that we have planned at the moment. The clearbot folks are reasonably new to the HubSpot. They're settling in and I know that they're working on some really exciting things that they plan. Please fill out the form. I'm going to share at the end. I'd love to have a follow up conversation with you about that.
What's the behavior? I'm vaguely remembering that forms with payments, you submit the form and then you.
Get sent to the to ship this year And I guess I'm the bearer of bad news. That form shortening is not one of them. That's, that's on our radar right now but it's certainly an opportunity that we've, we've had a conversation about something that we'd love to explore but we just haven't prioritized it yet and where we don't have any commitment to deliver that at least. As I stand here today, Becky asks.
Can you decide meeting link the form? Can you decide which meeting link the form submission redirects to or does it just go to one? Thinking of a round robin scenario and I think I would add on to this question. I know some of this like redirect functionality already exists. It got released in sales. How's the new stuff different and better?
Yeah, great question. And so you're right, we released some redirects from forms to meeting scheduling pages in November of last year payment page.
And if you don't submit the payment page, those two things are reported on separately. Right. You can see the form was completed but payment was not collected for whatever reason.
That's correct. Yeah. So the form has a submission and then the payment has a payment status. They're represented individually. Correct.
So that's the one part in HubSpot that I think sort of has this feel but it's actually because they're two separate tools, it makes sense that they're two separate submission events.
Exactly.
Yeah. When will we have forms as a proper data?
I think, I think actually it got, I think it might have gotten the, the most reactions in your. The Q3 Jeffies. It might have run an award there.
It won an award. Yeah. Everybody went nuts for that.
Yeah. Pretty cool. That was nice to see. Some of the limitations that, that people noticed with that is that we limited the Number of rules that you could set up. So if rules and the number of conditions that could live inside those rules. And so that limited the number of meeting links that you were able to redirect to, which made the feature a little bit difficult to use. Particularly if you had a sales team of more than four people which a.
Lot of our object that we can cross with contacts, companies and other data objects.
Interesting question. I would love to have some more insight into that.
I don't know if that relates to the reporting. This was asked that six minutes after the meeting started. So maybe this was before you announced that it would be in the customer report builder. Daniel, if you want to weigh in in the chat, let us know if this has been answered.
Customers do also the inability to have and or conditions. So to create a route.
There's more to it.
Yeah.
Chat. Chat says reporting Daniel also.
Okay, great.
So covered that.
Yep. So yeah on that one. The plan is once we have form submissions in the yeah. Customer port builder you should be able to join on all of those. Cool.
George wants to know how much money he has to deposit into your bank account to get the beta unlocked.
It's one of those situations where like you slide a card across the table with a number on it and then I review it and decide whether it's sufficient. No, I'm joking.
You can stop on record when you guys start talking about stuff like that.
You can submit the form that has for example, if country equals Ireland and number of employees is between 100 and 500 then go to this meeting link and that's not possible with what's in what we delivered last year. And so the new logic aims to address both of those and to make that available. And so you should at the end expressing your interest in participating in the beta. There's a couple of specific questions there around the types of forms that you're looking to create. We do have some limitations with multi step forms right now. Things that we're still iterating on. And so if you want to fill out the form, express your interest. The form asks for some details about the forms you're looking to recreate. We can review those and let you know if now is a good fit or if maybe over the next couple of weeks as we add some new features, you'd be a better fit. So that would be the path I'd suggest not just for this participant, but for anyone who's interested in participating.
Okay. Josefina asked a question.
Be able to redirect to many meeting links so you should be Able to set up multiple rules with many conditions and redirect those to meeting links that are either one to one group meeting links or round robin meeting links. Our meeting scheduling pages. Excuse me.
Great. How can I access the beta for form styling? Submit the form. How can I join the multi step form Beta? Submit the form. I will make this the last one because we're just about at time here. Can we validate email question right at the top of the hour that I believe has been answered but it might be worth just reiterating this explicitly. I have a question. Are you planning on doing dependent sections on the forms? I. E. If someone wants to talk to me about water damage I can ask them a bunch of questions about that and if they're going to ask about mold remediation, make the form have conditional questions about that.
Yeah, excellent question. So the yes is the short answer.
Addresses like to not accept free emails, Gmail, Hotmail, etc.
Good question. This is an ask that we get reasonably regularly. Something we'd love to work on, but it's not something that's on our immediate roadmap. The slightly longer answer is that you would probably create a form with a couple of different steps. On one step you would have questions about your Sorry I forget the names of the two services they were offering.
There are lots more questions. I'm not even halfway down the scroll so I will export these all out, share them with your team so you can see them.
That'd be awesome.
Much everyone for being here, for participating, so much for asking these questions. Ian, thanks for just taking this rapid fire interrogation. Really appreciate you being here, prepping your presentation, sharing a form for people to join the beta know everyone really appreciates it. Sounds like if folks want to get in touch that form is is your preferred way. Is that. Is that right? Water damage and mold remediation?
Yeah. Okay, so you would have one step for water damage. Yeah, absolutely. I think if you're interested in any of the things that I shared today, you can, you can submit the form and we'll make sure to to get back to you there. A fair warning for those who are here and I'm conscious some folks have dropped off but we've gotten. I can I have my email open on the other on the screen that's next to me and I can see how many form submissions came in. Another formula remediation. You would have your series of questions associated with each of those on individual steps and then you would use conditional logic to determine based on maybe a drop down for it's. Multiple hundreds so it may take us a little bit of time to get through them, for example, or a multi checkbox on a previous field, whether or not those steps were shown or hidden from that visitor. But yeah, thank you so much for all those things. Submissions Please do submit the form if you've got questions and we'll make sure to reach them and so you should be pretty easily able to create that kind of experience.
Will there be a way to create multiple contacts through one form, for example event form and creating a contact for a guest?
Great question and probably over the next week or so it might take us that long to get through them all.
All right, well thanks again. Thank you all for being here. That's the end of this week's admin hug and hope to see you all then.
It's not in our immediate plans, but I'd love to, I'd love to talk to to this person or anybody else who's who's back next week.
Bye everyone.
Thanks everyone. All the best.
Bye everybody.
Got that. That use case, it's not super common when it comes to registering. People for webinars, which is one of the more common use cases that we hear from customers. This is a big pain point when it comes to registering folks for in person events for sure, and we definitely get feedback on this, but it's not a part of our immediate plans. But I'd love to understand this a bit more detail if that person wants to reach out. Great.
Can you make form templates I.e. common styling, standard form properties and a team of 50 plus people just seem, people seem to just do their own thing with forms.
Great question. Yes. So we've got some, I guess, templates in the existing forms tool today you can create a blank form or you can create a Legion form, a meeting form, for example. There's a bunch of options. It's our intention to support customers with something similar in the new Forms editor, but it's not something that we've got right now, likely something that we'll work on later this year. We are exploring some ways that we could support customers with doing this and there's a couple of different approaches we could take. One is where we're helping folks to get started quicker, making it easier to create forms that align with the use case that they have in mind where they're hoping to generate submissions, the kind of styling that they want to apply. And so we're looking at that use case being one the other. I think the one that was mentioned here is maybe more related to in bigger organizations. I want to have some standardization across my forms and is there maybe an opportunity for me to create Ian's template for the marketing department or Kyle's template if we haven't explored that in as much detail. But I'd love to chat to this person if they want to express interest in participating in the beta and add some details in the comment about that. I think we can, we can reach out as we start exploring templates in a bit more detail. Great.
Kyle.
Yeah.
Before you move to the next one, we've got a lot of upvotes on some questions that just made it in. So if. Refresh.
Refresh my upvoting. Yeah. So those of you who are longtime Admin Hug attendees know we have had an up and down relationship with Bevy. Bevy has been performing really well lately. But I am getting so much lag trying to load the Q and A right now. So I was sorting it between every question and then questions were taking forever to load so I have not been sorting. But yeah, feel free to call that out anytime if there's a question that we should be getting to sooner. So Taylor asks can we please make it possible to send customers a copy of their form submissions?
Can we please make it possible to send a customer copy their form submissions? Interesting question. I think this would be. I haven't tested this end to end, but I think this will be possible today. Using workflows. Sure.
And an email with personal tokens.
Exactly. Great.
Laura asks does the multi form work in a CTA Pop up?
Great question. And not right now. So the private beta that we've got right now, I mentioned that there are some limitations with that. One of those is embedding forms in CTAs, but it is our plan to have that this year.
How are those multi step forms going to work in embed mode, for example, Webflow.
Interesting question. There's a couple of ways you can interact with forms today. Some customers interact with those as developers and they've got lots of customization that they do of those forms. And then there's kind of a more simplistic I just want to copy this embed code and edit for the Multi Step Forms beta that exists today. All of the forms are within an iframe. And so if you put that in any CMS or in any web page, they should render as you see in the editor. That's the beauty of moving towards wysiwyg, which.
