Goals @ the HubSpot Admin HUG 🐙

HubSpot product manager Erica Deal walks admins through setting up Goals, from creation to reporting. You can build goals from templates, import targets via CSV, and choose between user or team attribution. The new reporting UI includes progress gauges, leaderboards, and dynamic filters, though Goals don't yet support line-item tracking or hierarchical roll-ups.

All right, welcome everybody to the admin hug. I think that's a sufficient introduction. Erica, over to you.
Hi everybody. My name is Erica Deal. I'm a product manager for sales, reporting and goals here at HubSpot and I'm going to spend some time this morning talking through all things HubSpot goals. So first of all, do I need to do something to get my thing shared? This is all new, so thanks everybody. We're kind of guinea pigging here, so bear with me. This is also my first admin hug, so please be nice. But I will just do a quick overview of what we're going to talk about today. So first we're going to go over just like what is a goal in HubSpot? Goal is a really broad word, but it means something kind of specific in the context of the platform and what we're talking about. Today we'll go over setting up a new goal, reporting on goal progress, and then I'm going to leave lots of time for Q and A. I'll also have some pauses in there to check and see if folks are asking questions along the way. But goals are just one of those topics where there's so many like really specific sort of questions and issues we can get into that I want to make sure that there's plenty of time to ask. And I believe I saw somebody in there asking about how to do Q and A. It looks like you can bookmark your comment and add it to the Q and A sort of queue so I can check on those.
All right, everybody, sorry, one quick item on that. As you ask questions in the chat, Deanna and I will flag them to go over into the Q and A. There isn't any upvoting functionality in this platform, which is something we've relied on heavily in the past. So if you see a question go through in the chat that you like, everybody just give it some emojis and we will. With the most emoji laden ones we will, we will prioritize when we get there.
Cool. All right, so first I want to just start with like what are we talking about when we're talking about goals? 2 level set. Today we're going to be talking about sales and service goals, not ad campaign goals. So these are goals that are set on people and teams from within the goals area of HubSpot and reporting. There are marketing goals. It's kind of a different beast. We're not going to go over that today. So I just want to level set in case, just want to make that really clear. Up front. So we are going to talk about how do you think about a goal? How are goals designed in HubSpot? And then we'll get into the specifics. The way we think about goals in our platform is they're really primarily designed for tracking quota attainment or a specific target for a specific person in a specific time period. So they are always quantifiable, measured on CRM data, they're always time bound. So they have a start and end date and they're always attributed to a person or a team or some combination of the above. And we're going to go over what these mean a little more specifically and then I'm going to jump into more of a demo and talk about kind of how that shows up and how you think about that in the process of creating a goal and getting goal reports up and running. So when I say HubSpot goals are quantifiable, I mean honestly it's just like a report. Basically you have to think what is the metric? What is the thing that I am measuring somebody on? It's based on objects and properties, basic aggregations and some kind of date. So like how much what gets counted during what time period does it count? Do is higher, better or lower better? This is what a custom goal looks like. So if you have enterprise, this is what you're going to see when you're using goals from a template. We've done all of this work for you and defined that whole metric and added any filters and things like that that need to be added. But like at, you know, at its base it's always like there's a specific target. Second, there's always a time period which can like be a little tricky and isn't always expected. So goals are set for 12 months by default. You can set them for longer periods if anyone is interested in that. Drop a question in Q and A and I can show you how. But by default it's a 12 month goal. You can also set them for custom time periods, usually on a repeating cadence like monthly or quarterly targets. It doesn't auto extend, which you may have discovered at the beginning of this year when all of your 2025 goals did not roll over automatically to 2026 and then finally they're always attributed. So this is another one we get a lot of questions about. But goals are really designed to be a target assigned to a person or a team. So. So we don't have these open ended goals that are like here's generally a target that we have for the whole business. It's really who is accountable for this number over what time period. They are only tracked for seated users. We have. I have a little bit more information on that in a second. And there are. Generally it's based on the owner of an object and their primary team. There are some caveats to that that I am going to get into as we're sort of walking through the goal setup flow. But generally speaking, that's. That's how it's going to work. And then there are some like caveats when it comes to what edition you have. So there's just basic revenue goals for starter. For professional, you're going to have access to all the different goal templates depending on whether you have sales users or sales seats, service seats, etc. And then enterprise is where you can create custom goals, which means you can totally define your own metric, you can save templates, etc. Next we're going to briefly get into setting up a new goal and I'm going to try to get through this section first and then check for Q and A because I know there's probably a lot of questions at this point. My next slide is crazy, but then I'm going to get into a demo. Please bear with me. Before you go and set up a goal, there's a few things that you need to kind of have in mind going into it. Otherwise it's going to be really hard to get that goal set up. First you need to know what is the metric that I measure? What is the thing that I'm measuring? Specifically? Object property aggregation, all that good stuff. When should progress be measured? Like, when do we start tracking, when do we stop tracking? How often are we measuring progress and who should get credit? These are like the building blocks of a goal. And if you don't kind of already have an idea of what this is going to look like going into goal creation, you're probably going to get a little bit bogged down. I'm going to go ahead and just jump into a. Sorry, jump into a demo environment here. Can everyone see my screen? Great. Cool. We're going to go ahead and set up a goal. I'm going to take my time here and walk through a lot of the details in context and then I'm going to stop and take questions about setting up a new goal. Okay, so starting out, you can either create a goal from template or create it from scratch. Basically the difference between the two is if you do it from a template, we've already set up the metric for you. So, like, our revenue goal is A mountain company currency. Sum of a mountain company currency on a deal when the deal is closed. 1. If it's a custom goal, you get to set all of those things using custom properties and custom objects and things like that. For the sake of getting through this, I'm going to use a template. There's a bunch of different templates here. These are basically preset metrics based on HubSpot's default data model. Just to head this off, there's a revenue template and a forecastable revenue template. The difference between the two is that the forecast tool, if you're using that in HubSpot, has some specific guardrails that need to be in place in order to be able to like reflect a goal successfully in that app. So these, those guardrails are baked into this goal template. So just think, if you want to use the forecast tool in HubSpot, use forecastable revenue goals. Otherwise regular revenue goals are fine. All right, so I'm going to go ahead and set up a revenue goal since that is the most common goal type that we see folks setting up. So I'm going to give it a little name. This name has to be unique. That is a recent change that we made. But yeah, please try to give your goals names where they're all the same and they all show up in the list with the same name. We do ask this question just, just to double check, do you need to use it in forecasting? I'm going to say no, I don't. And then you, you decide who actually is going to be getting credit for this goal. There are a lot of sort of things to get into with how you choose who's going to get credit for a goal, how you architect your goals, depending on how you want to sort of set things up and track things in your portal. So in general, if you're doing user goals, these are basically goals where you're assigning targets to an individual rep. And this is what you want to choose when you're doing like individual level quotas or targets and you want to do like a breakdown by individual people or that sort of thing. It's kind of just like cleaner to do it that way. You can also choose which property you want to use for attribution if you're doing a user goal. So we know that a lot of folks do not use the object owner, especially on deals, to denote like who should be getting credit. So you can choose an alternative property here if that's what makes sense for your business. The other option here is team with user Goals. This is kind of like secretly two options. I'm going to walk through what this looks like, but basically this is use this when you have some kind of like team level target that is independent of what the individuals on the team are accountable for. And you can also include the individuals in that goal. But you really want to do this if you've got like, you know, a team is accountable for something regardless of who's on that team. So this is something you probably want to have in place if you, if you have kind of like some fluctuation in your staffing, that sort of thing. And then finally you're going to want to choose your cadence. So weekly, monthly, quarterly. This is just. How often do we have a target set? This is a little bit different from reporting. So in a report with a goal, you can break it down by different time periods. This is how often you want to actually say like, this is how much this person is accountable for this period of time. And you can align it with your fiscal year if you want to or not. Just depends on what makes sense for you. I think that. Okay, we already have seven questions in Q and A. So I'm going to like pause briefly, take a quick look. I see. Okay. Goals. Does goals work for users with Service Hub? Only for specific objects. So conversations and tickets. We are talking about that now. So if you have feedback, please share it, post it on the community. We are looking just having thought, like it hasn't really bubbled up yet a lot, but that is the current state of things. So quarterly and monthly segments. So this is kind of the difference between like, how often do you have targets and how do you want to like subdivide them. So this will be something I kind of come back to when we look at reporting. But basically you can set a, like an annual target and then break it down by quarter in a report. Which is different from saying we actually have quarterly targets. Sometimes, however, it is easier to just subdivide by four and like have that on a report instead. Forecastable revenue goals cannot use the Google reports. That is a great question. That is something that we're in the queue trying to fix, but we don't have an immediate ETA on that. Okay. Lack of rollover or continuity makes it difficult and clunky to look at users period over period attainment. Yeah, that's a great point. That's something that hasn't come up a whole lot, but I see that there's plenty of emojis on this. So yeah, that's definitely something we can take a look at, I think. Yeah, just hasn't been elevated that much yet. But that is a really good point. We know that like year over year comparisons are something that people really like in reporting. Oh, okay. Multiple main teams. Yes, we are in conversation with that team. So I know that like for folks who have, you know, potentially reps, sales reps contributing to multiple teams, you might like the multiple main teams beta. Sounds like it could be a solution here because we've had for a while the ability to add extra team members to a goal, but it can get a little messy because when you've got a person showing up twice in a goal, you have to deduplicate and it has some like slightly unexpected behavior at times. We are in conversation with the team that is running this multiple main teams beta. The bait. The main reason this is tricky for goals right now is because you cannot change the team associated with a deal or another object. Eventually we're hoping that that changes and that is kind of like the underlying change that would enable us to then have goals kind of follow that change. Yeah, snapshots. Okay, so Josh asks snapshots, forecast goals, pipeline, stage probability, all part of the same business problem, but basically aren't aware of each. More consistency in tooling. We are aware of that problem. I don't have a specific change to share right now, but the goals team and the forecasting team are working really closely together on figuring out what the future needs to look like. And we're in conversation with some of the CRM teams about how to get snapshots and pipeline stages to a better state. Like I said, I don't have a specific release I can tell you about right now, but we are very actively in conversation about how to make all of that better. Okay, I'm going to answer the last two questions, then I'm going to move on. Okay, so if you sell physical products, how do you set monthly quantity goals for products and line items? Currently line items are not supported in goals. It is a product request we've heard of. Please post this on the community if it's something you really want. We are gathering input about this now and it's something that we're considering for a future roadmap. And then finally team Total Team annual. Okay, so and then the last question is how would goal setup and roll up work for this hierarchy? Total team annual goal. Then each channel owns a portion of that. Then we have individual goals. Goals is currently not set up to support like multi level hierarchies like that. So we would probably be looking at like multiple separate goals as opposed to like a single hierarchical roll up. But I can go over this in a little bit more detail once we get in, kind of get through the next few minutes. All right. Okay. So moving on to target setting. So once you kind of set up the metric for your goal and who is going to get credit and you know, is this going to be a team goal and a user goal or you know, some other combination, then you need to actually set the targets for your goal. And so that's going to mean specific numbers for specific time periods assigned to a specific team or person. You also do need to choose for revenue goals, choose which pipelines you're going to use. I'm going to go ahead and use the demo sales pipeline. And this is just to sort of make sure like this kind of helps you keep clean swim lanes. So for example, if you have like a new business pipeline and a renewals pipeline, you can keep those as separate goals instead of trying to like munge it all together. And then you can combine those pipelines if you want to have individual level quota tracking as well. So for these sort of team with user goals, we default to only showing the team. You can turn on user goals. And this is going to add every user who's on the team if it's their main team. If you've included extra team members, those will show up here too. And then you can set targets for all of those folks. Now we are well aware that this is a lot of boxes on the screen. So last fall we added a way to do this via CSV because you're going to need to fill out a number for each of these people, for each of these columns, and that's a lot. So if you don't want to do that manually, you can get a pre populated CSV file that we kind of give you a template that has all of your data in it. It's going to look something like this, where it's got your people, the data you need to do the mapping. And then here are the dates that you're going to need to fill out. You can fill it with whatever data you want, get it signed off by your finance team or whoever's looking at this. Then you can go ahead and. I lost my download button. I'm sorry. You can go ahead and upload it, import it. Now all of those boxes are filled out. Definitely encourage you to try that. Instead of trying to fill all of these out manually. We also recently added a way to do team roll ups of user goals. So there's, there's sort of two flavors of user goals that we've, we've observed. One is I have, or, sorry, team goals. Excuse me. One is I have a team goal and it's like more than the sum of the user. The goals of like the individual sales reps on the team. We like to add 10% on top or whatever to kind of like have a stretch for the team. And in other cases people are like, nah, I just want the team goal to be the exact sum of all the people on the team. I don't want to do that math. So we did add an easy toggle to do that roll up for you so that you don't have to think about that as much anymore for that particular scenario. So I'm going to go ahead and keep that and then moving on. You can decide if you want notifications under certain circumstances and call it a day. I'm going to go ahead and create this goal. Now. We have a sales goal all created, ready to go. So I'm going to like back out of here. And the next, the obvious next step here is you want to think about how do I actually like, report on how do I look at what's going on with this goal on a regular basis? Most HubSpot users we know do not want to go to the goals app individually on their own to have to like just track goal progress. You want to see your goals data in the same context as all of your other data, AKA on a dashboard. So we've recently added some ways to make that a little bit easier to, to manage. So first off, there's two ways to do this. One is we added a great big button at the top that is hard to miss called Create Goal Report. And this is just going to pop open like a sort of a general panel that helps you choose a goal and how you want to put it together. You can also go into a specific goal and say, hey, I actually want to click. You can click on actions and then report. This is going to pre populate the relevant data for you. So the main thing to know here is you need to choose your goal. Depending on how you've set up the goal, you need to report on either choose whether you're going to report on the user level targets or the team level targets. If you have both in the same goal, you do have to decide. This is a change from the way it worked previously where it always defaulted to only reporting on teams and you couldn't report on users if you had them all together in the same goal. Then we've added a few new visualization types. If you haven't looked at these recently, I would definitely suggest checking them out. We added a progress gauge visualization. So this basically takes your goal target and your progress amount and makes it kind of like a little progress bar for you with an automatic percentage calculation. This is only available right now through the goals app. Somebody is going to ask that, I'm sure. I haven't checked the Q and A, but we are looking at bringing that to the report builder that is on the roadmap. But it is not done yet. So if you want this report, you do have to do it through goals for the time being. The one we've had for a while is like a line chart which is just kind of basic attainment over time. Pretty simple. This is basically functionally the same as the old goal report templates that you could search for through the reporting app. And then finally we also added a leaderboard style. So this is basically we asked ourselves what if we took the quota attainment report but made it something that you could apply to any goal and a specific goal instead of all of your revenue goals folded together. So this is kind of taking that same style that you see in the sales analytics suite on the quota attainment report. But you can be really specific about which goal you want to see. You can break it down by team or by user, depending on the whole how the goal is set up. All of these can be saved to a dashboard and they are compatible with dynamic dashboard filters. So if you want to create a dashboard where you've got. You've got, you know, sales reps being able to look at it and see it just filter to their own goal progress for, for example, that should just work out of the box now. So that's currently that this is like our recommendation for how you should go about putting goals on a report that goes on a dashboard. We are in partnership with the reporting platform teams on how to bring some of this functionality more into report builders. But we wanted to make sure this was out like in function. You know, there was. There was a way to do this at the beginning of the year and not have to wait for like that full integration with. With builders. Although it is under discussion, there is a way you can also create reports on goals in the single object builder. So the. I'll just like show a couple other ways that you can get this done. So the single object report includes goals as a data source. You'll see it just right down Here you can choose that and go ahead and make a report like the usual way. Someone's going to ask this, so I'll head it off. Right now we are working on bringing goals data to the custom report builder that is currently in development. I do not have an ETA that I can share with this group at the time, but we know that that's a really important use case and that'll give you way more power over goal reporting, an ability to make it look exactly the way you want it to. So that is something we're working on now. Okay, so that's like the very high level spin through of like what goals look like. I think this is a good opportunity now to get into some like specific examples of how we might put goals together. I see more, let's see. I see some more questions in here. Okay, so will goals have the option to measure by percentages in the future? For example, a goal like 95% of support tickets will be closed within X days. That is interesting. So it sounds like this is a question about how do you, how do you set something like kind of an SLA as a goal? And because the current. I think that you could do this and I haven't personally I haven't tried to do this. But right now you would have to think about how. You basically think about the way you would reflect this in a report and like take that approach to a custom goal. So if you were able to, for example, Sorry, I'm trying, I'm like thinking through this live because I haven't actually tried to do something like that before. But basically the question would be how could you measure that in a report? And then you would sort of take that. Like probably you're going to need like a custom property that sort of indicates like what's closed on time or not. And that's something you could measure as a goal. So not directly via a template. That's a really interesting one and I'll share that with the team that works on some of these more like service oriented goal requests. But yeah, I think you could do this with a custom goal. It would just take a little bit of doing. Setting up goals for the customer agent. That is a really interesting question. The answer is currently no. But I'm so curious to know more about this. I'm assuming this means like setting, you know, SLA style goals for the customer agent as though they were a user in the portal, same as a sales rep. That is not currently something that we support, but we can definitely sort of take that internally and Share with that team currency isn't shown in the report. Is this something that will be updated? Oh, I think this is probably referring to the gauge report. I just want to like double check this. Yeah, okay. There was a. I cannot remember the specifics right now. There was a technical reason that showing the currency in here was a little bit complicated. But I can take this back to the team and double check on that because. Yeah, that is totally fair. What are the magical permissions? So users can see their individual progress, the overall team progress, but not their peers progress. That. Okay, Sorry. I'm thinking through this. The way I would suggest doing this is via a dashboard rather than pointing people toward the goals app. It's good to know that there's interest in having that level of like visibility granularity. So generally speaking, I mean, and generally like getting into the goals app is just kind of messy for sales reps in the first place. So the way I would consider doing this is on a dashboard have like an individual level goal tracker and then a team level goal report. Just like total team progress and then use dynamic filters so that they can, you know, a sales rep will see their own stuff on that dashboard, but not necessarily other people's stuff. Will we ever be able to create goals based on line items? It's not currently on the roadmap, but it is under discussion. We are aware of that request and the more we hear about it and people upvote it and emoji it and bring it up on the community, the more likely it is that we can, we can make space for that. Definitely heard that request before. Okay, there's a few. Let's see a few further back. There were a few specific scenarios that I was thinking we could talk through. Is anyone here interested in deal split goals? That's something that's been coming up a lot and we can talk through that in a little more detail. If not, that is fine. But this is something we recently.
Sorry, can you give just a quick like 10 second definition of deal splits?
Absolutely. Okay.
Katie is excited about deal splits, so.
He'S excited about deal splits. Okay. I love the repetition on goals online items. Thank you. I will screenshot that, send it to my team. Excuse me. So deal splits are a feature in Sales Hub where you can split credit for a deal between multiple users. So let me just like go in and find that real quick. So believe it's here. Yes. Okay. So if you go into like the deals page and settings here at the bottom under collaboration, you can split deal among users and this Basically is just saying, hey, not 100% of the credit is always going to go to the deal owner. Sometimes there's multiple people involved and they should get partial credit. So maybe it's like half and half or 1/3 or specific dollar amounts or whatever. So this is really a utility for team based selling. For the longest time, goals ignored deal splits in calculating revenue goal progress, which was really annoying for people who use this feature. So recently we made a few changes and basically the problem was that goals would only be based on the deal owner and it would give one credit to whoever sort of the deal was attributed to, even if it was actually split with other users. So people would end up with these like artificially inflated numbers, which was not doing anybody any good. So we made a couple of changes. So first off, basically if your portal has deal splits turned on, they're just going to get automatically incorporated into goal tracking so you don't have to do additional work. If you set up a revenue goal, we're going to check for whether you have deal splits and just include it automatically in progress tracking then not in this portal, but in a different portal. I'm going to change portals real quick. Sorry. I have better test data for deal splits here. If you are using deal splits and you create a user goal, there's going to be a little change to the report flow where we actually ask you which object you want to create that report on. If you want to do a user level leaderboard, for example, you're going to want to use the deal split object as the data source here. The important caveat is that deal splits include. This is really confusing. Deal splits include deals that are not split. That bears repeating. So basically, if you turn on deal splits in your portal, every deal gets a deal split. If there's only one person assigned to that deal, they get 100% credit. All of that gets rolled together as the same data source. You can use deal splits as a data source for goal tracking here. You won't miss any data. It's a little unintuitive, but it lets you do this without joins and fancy trickery behind the scenes. This is something that we added very recently. If you haven't tried to do this recently, I encourage you to go give it another try. But this is basically for sales teams that are shipping share and commission on deals and need to have that individual level tracking that reflects how much they actually get credit for per deal and not like the whole amount of the deal goals for leads. I have good news for you. We have goals for leads. So we, we just added. So somebody just asked, will we be getting goals for leads? We actually just added some new goal reports like two weeks ago. So you can do. You can report or it's not goal reports, I'm sorry, goal templates. So you can do goals on leads, created activities, completed tasks, emails, etc. And then in custom goals, if you have enterprise, the leads object is now available as an object that you can create a goal on as is. Yeah. So we wanted to like loosen up, add a few more options for activity based and prospecting, goal reporting or goal tracking. Quick dashboard setup. Yes. Okay, so yeah, I can go over setting up a dashboard with goal reports. So let me just do like a quick test here. Excuse me. I had a cold all last week and so I'm. I feel like I'm just getting froggier and froggier the further we go. All right, so I'm going to go ahead and create a couple of reports based on this goal that I know has some, some data in it. So I'm going to save these reports to new dashboard, Go ahead and add that and then I will go ahead and add a. Say like a team. Does this have data in it? Some of these do and some do not. Sorry. Messy, messy portal. We'll just go ahead and do. I just realized that I don't have actually like a good team goal set up on this one. More recently we can do this one. So we'll add a contact goal just. Just to see what that looks like. So we can say like, hey, we. We also want to be able to see total team progress again. You can choose the gauge report or line report or whatever and save it to that dashboard that I just created. All right, so wait. Oh well, this is why we don't demo live sometimes because that is a thing that just changed. That's. We can all relate. Don't worry. I am so sorry. Literally the last time I demoed this, it worked fine. You can add dynamic filters here. You can add a dynamic filter to the report itself. This is supposed to be me looking at myself. You can add that dynamic filter. As you'll see the. Let's see. Just to clarify the amount changes. Sorry. An interesting note about goals and reports in HubSpot is they are separate teams and so sometimes this happens. So yeah, I would say leave without saving. I got this into a funny state. I would say just add me as a dynamic filter here, update the report. Then here. You would probably again want to add a dynamic filter and then say team. And this is like you can do this kind of on a per. Well, I'm not actually on this though. That's why it says zero. But you can do this on a per report basis. And so say if you're. If what you want is for, you know, this report to be. I am a sales rep looking at my own progress. That's what I see reflected in this report. You can add a dynamic filter and then same thing with like a dynamic team filter. You probably don't want to add these at the dashboard level, actually if you're doing user and team on the same dashboard, because those can clash in some funny ways. Dashboard filters are like a whole separate beast. And I saw that you have a reporting admin hub coming up soon, so you should ask about them there. Yeah, but my recommendation here would be to get the reports on here that you want and then add the dynamic filters to say, like, am I looking at myself? Am I looking at my team? Or something like that. Okay. Most people are interested in revenue goals, but could I touch briefly on service goals and any fun tips and tricks in that area? Excuse me. We do not currently have a whole lot of service goals. And I will be honest with you, I'm the PM for sales reporting and so service goal usage has been relatively low. If you have specific questions like, you know, we'd like to be able to do this sort of thing, specific questions, I can try to answer those, but right now it's pretty much like these sort of like duration based, like basic goal templates and there aren't particular tips and tricks that I'm aware of for. But if there's like a specific question that I can try to answer, I will try to answer it. Okay.
Erica, I assume at this point you are very accustomed to jokes about your last name.
You know, I have heard all. I think I've heard all the jokes, but if someone can come up with a joke that I haven't heard, her.
Last name is Deal, not ticket.
It is. That's true. Yeah. I don't know how I wound up in product management for sale software, but it was kind of perfect. So. Yeah. Any other questions? No. Well, it definitely got the goals online items loud and clear. Consider that noted. But please also run to the Ideas forum and post about it if you're willing to do that. That would help us tremendously in getting physical onto that issue. Anything else? Maybe not. I pasted the link for the Ideas forum in there. So you have any of those wonderful recommendations, go ahead and add them there. Oh, I See, there's also some questions in the chat. Last name is Dicker. Oh my gosh.
Sounds like people are interested in goals grouped by geo. I assume these are like sales regions.
Yes, that totally makes sense. We have heard that before. The reason we don't have that right now is because there's sort of an underlying configuration of goal of like regions and division that would need to exist in HubSpot before we could create goals based on that type of roll up. So I think that that's something we have to like look into a little bit more and kind of work on, you know, how do we, how do we reflect that type of hierarchy in HubSpot all up before we're able to apply it to something like goals? We've also heard that for forecasting as well and it's like the same issue there, which is like the hierarchy needs to exist first and that's kind of like a long term project that we need to work on. More work to do. I'm so sorry. You do need a goal for each geo. That is true. So yeah, that's, that's kind of the way to do it right now. If you, if you need like goals for different territories or goals for different lines of business, it is generally better to set up one goal per each of these concepts and then use filters or pipelines to keep them distinct. So yeah, that's, that's kind of the state of things right now. How do goals tie in with buyer groups or target accounts? I. They do not currently, but I am super curious to hear more about what, what might be the interest there. We have heard some requests for goals on like accounts themselves and being able to then assign those goals to people. So like goals on the company object, for example. It's not currently, you know, in plan, but the more we hear about it, the more we can, we can prioritize. We can talk about prioritizing that. Okay. When a user changes teams, how do the goal reports follow them? Does it stay with the team or does it move with the user? Great question. So right now a goal is basically a collection of targets for a person in a time and like specific time period. So the way goal tracking works is you've got people assigned to the goal, it tracks them as long as, you know they're contributing to that goal. And if they move teams, they need to be added to a different team's goal and their progress will be counted toward that goal from that point forward. We do not retroactively change goals. They're really intended for tracking like what was true in a given period based on, you know, the organization at the time. So, so you can have like, if you have a lot of sort of fluidity between teams, I would suggest having goals that just do individual level tracking regardless of teams and then like separate team goals. Team and user goals bundled together. Works best when you have mostly people staying on the same teams or like working within the context of one team. Let's see any insight on how to help with adoption of the Goals feature? So there's really sort of two. Two things I would suggest here. One is increasingly we're thinking of the goals like app that interface within HubSpot is like really, that's where you're going to go to create and manage your goals. It's not necessarily a destination you need to use to like drive adoption with your, with your reps, with your managers. We know from lots of experience that they do not like going to a separate destination just to view some data when they go somewhere else for other data. So my recommendation would be to create goal reports and put them on the dashboards people are already using. Because in most cases those dashboards already exist. Inserting goals, estatic lines and custom reporting. Great question. That is a conversation we're having with the reporting team on how to make that a lot easier. There's some very limited ways to do that right now that I am not even going to bother demoing because it's pretty clunky. But we are talking with the reporting team on how to make that better and we are bringing goal data to custom reporting. So custom reports goals will be a data source in the future, so that will give you a lot more control over the types of reports you can create. Campaign goals. My team was not involved with campaign goals so that the marketing, Marketing hub used some of our like, underlying infrastructure. But really it's. It's pretty much a separate team and a separate feature. Okay. Am I in the sprocketeer slack? Yes, I am in the sprocketeer slack. Oh, sorry, that's somebody else. I'm sorry, that wasn't even for me. Apologies. Can goals be more natively integrated into the homepage of the sales workspace? Great question. We are in conversation with that team. There's not any current plans, but keep, keep letting us hear that feedback and I will share it with that team. Is there a way to do weighted goals or have the goals reweight or allocate to the rest of the year if they don't hit one month? That's a really interesting question. The answer is not currently. So if what you, if what you're trying. If what you're thinking is like there's, you know, carryover, like if you don't hit it this month, it just sort of gets added to your next month. That's not a, that's not a feature we currently support. I think you would probably need to change the goal targets and you could do that via like a CSV. Like you could use a spreadsheet or something for doing that kind of reallocation for the time being. But we do not currently support like rollovers like that. All right, other questions. If I'm missing something, I'm trying to like ping back and forth.
Yeah, no, it's. I think you're getting them all.
Okay.
No notes.
A lot of questions. I know goals are very specific and detailed topic.
Let us know folks in the chat if there's anything we've missed. Go ahead.
To auto clone a goal between years. That's an interesting one. I'm assuming you're talking about not just cloning an existing goal which does create, but say I want this goal to repeat year over year. It's a great feature suggestion. I can definitely sort of put it on our list for consideration. Repeat year over year. Okay. Yep, yep, that makes sense.
All right. All right, well, thank you. Thanks everyone for being here. If folks have follow up questions, do you. Are you a LinkedIn person? Is there a way you want people to connect with you? Oh, more questions are coming.
All right, here we go. Floodgates opening. Okay, selecting a user group that is already tied to another goal set. The answer is you can create any number of as long as they're not forecastable revenue goals. That's like the caveat, the forecasting app does not like it when you have users in multiple goals at the same time. For any other goal type, you can create as many goals as you want. And if somebody is in one goal, they can also be added to another goal. The thing to be careful about is a user showing up multiple times in one goal because you're including extra team members in that goal. So you do want to kind of make sure you've constructed the goal so each user shows up one time and the, the, the work they're doing is kind of like clearly separated from. From other goals. Otherwise you might end up with some weird double counting that isn't what you intend. But you can have multiple goals even for the same metric assigned to one person or group of people. Any plans to bring filter logic to goals setup? So Filter logic is. Oh, I see. Yeah, not currently, but that's a really interesting question. We do have, you know, basic filters supported for custom goals. But we can, you know, take a look at some of these. More like advanced needs if. If we hear more about that. All right. Okay, cool. Well, very efficient.
