How HubSpot Seamless Install Exemptions Work

HubSpot Marketplace product manager Sreej demonstrates how to request an exemption from seamless install. You fill out a form with your app ID, reason category, and detailed context, then the EcoQuality team reviews it within 7 business days. If approved, customers must schedule a demo instead of installing directly.

Hello all. My name is Sreej. I'm a product manager on the Marketplace team, and right now I'm going to demo the exemption flow, like how you can add exemptions there. So I'm going to go into development for the seamless install flow, exemptions for the seamless install flow, and going into the app listing, I'm going to take like one of the existing app listings here, edit listing. In here, I can see the request to remove install button from listing. Again, this option is available only if you have opted into seamless install flow. If you're not opted into seamless install flow, you won't see this. So to log in exemptions, you will have to opt into seamless install flow. So once you opt in, I'm going to click on request removal. It opens a form. I fill out all the details in here and click on next. Production app ID, add the details here. And then you come in, come into this section though, for reason for exemptions. Current reason for exemptions are complex onboarding, legal constraint, and others. You have to select one of those. And the exemption content, this is the main, I'd say main field in this form though. I would recommend apps to add as much content as possible. About how much, basically how much, why they should not be exempted from the app review, to add as much context as possible about why they should be exempted from the seamless install flow. Because this is what ECO quality team uses to make a land-on decision on whether they approve or deny an exemption request. And any additional questions are important details. You can add other additional questions that you have regarding seamless install or why with your, and with regarding your app. And if you have like Looms or other things which explain your sort every problem, that would be easier as well. So the more data you provide on exception context, the better it is for the easier it's for EcoQuality to make a landowner decision to understand the problem and go along with that. Now, and then you have to agree to all these terms here. Again, I ignore the marketplace test because this is a QA test environment. So that's why you have it though. So you have to agree to the terms and once you go in, the form is submitted. So once a form is submitted, a ticket is created on the EcoQuality team's queue. So they'll take a look at it. The current SLA for exemption request is 7 business days. So you'll get a response basically based on that one. So if an exemption request is approved, what happens is this install button URL is no longer needed. It won't be there. Instead, the schedule demo will be a mandatory field. So you will have to add like a meeting or a contact form or both in that case. Just to show you what it is about. So I'm going to go to, to an app which I know has meetings and setup. So if your app is exempted from install, from the seamless install, then you won't have the sign in, the install button. You will only have this schedule demo. This will become the primary CTA for this one. So technically it means that no one, any customer cannot install your app directly from the AppSpot marketplace. Instead, they will have to go through either with your form for the app to contact them back or through sales channel by scheduling a meeting. If your app is rejected, if your exemption request is rejected for some case, then you will get an email from the EcoQuality team along with the reason for why it was rejected. And basically you will have to adhere to the seamless install flow at that point. So that's it for the exemption flow. It's pretty straightforward with App On-Do. And so basically if you are exempted, customers won't be directly able to install your app from the marketplace. And if you're not exempted, you will have to adhere to the seamless install. That's it for this. Thanks for listening to, listening to all these videos and hopefully this gives you a lot of context on the seamless install.
