This is a YouTube video titled "How to lead leaders (remotely)." It features a monologue or talk by a single speaker named Zach, discussing leadership strategies for managing leaders remotely, emphasizing presence, communication, decisiveness, and problem-solving frameworks. The content is from August 10, 2024.
My job as a leader, leading leaders extends beyond just that weekly check in. I really want my team to feel that I am a present member of each of their sub teams. The person leading our product and client success team. I want her to feel comfortable throughout the week being like, hey Zach, just giving an update on this thing that happened. What do you think? And I always really try within 24 hours to reply back. And I write a lot. Like I give bullet points on all my thoughts and I really show that I remember the names of the people they manage, I remember their individual problems and I care and I have opinions. I think really good leaders need to be opinionated. Like strong opinions, loosely held. You're willing to change your mind, of course, but you also are decisive and can make decisions. Because as a leader leading leaders, problems that bubble up to me are by definition the ones that my leaders couldn't fix themselves. So constantly on a day to day basis, I'm dealing with difficult stuff that other people couldn't figure out. And you need a good framework to be able to figure that out. Which is why I think having them think that you're present and see that you're present and having this good written framework and cadence can be really helpful.
