This is a YouTube video titled "How to not miss out on great-fit candidates." It contains a monologue or talk from August 3, 2024, discussing strategies for recruiting and hiring, focusing on leveraging communities and networks to find suitable candidates rather than broad advertising. The speaker shares insights on selective promotion and networking in hiring processes.
My approach is I want to keep the initial stage as simple as possible. I'd rather have a wider aperture. Let more folks through and we'll do the screening. I don't want to miss out on somebody who would be a great fit, but they're maybe not looking super hard right now. I don't like taking that approach and then blasting this out via ads or the job posting sites. I then like to take that application and put it in the communities where this would make sense. So there's a EOS self implementers community. There are obviously other networks of folks who've been in the agency space. There's masterminds that I'm a part of and slack communities that I'm a part of. And there's obviously influencers, folks who've been exposed to these people. So other business coaches, specifically in the agency space, know a lot of these folks and might have a handle on who's looking or who's not looking. And so I tried to be really selective about going out and promoting this role. One of the key takeaways for anyone who's trying to hire is figure out where you can call in a favor and ask somebody who's likely to have more connections than you are, or, you know, a high number of quality connections in that space.
