A small business owner shares why they delayed hiring their first employee and how breaking down business tasks into clear processes helped them overcome the fear. They explain what changed their mind about taking on their first team member.
As a young small business owner, I avoided hiring at all cost. I recently shared five of my fears and how I'd reframe them on LinkedIn, but for now I'll just share one. One of my biggest fears around hiring for my business was that I couldn't find somebody that everything I do is just made up. How would I ever break that down into a normal job that a normal person would want to do? I'd reframe that now by realizing that everything we do can be broken down into processes. Every little thing from how we script a video to how we edit it, to how we publish it. These are all just little building blocks that make foundation of my business. I'm not that creative. I didn't reinvent the wheel. Everything I do might be unique to my business, but it breaks down to a skill that has existed before. If I can just define what my business does, break it down into pieces, and with that I'll be able to attract the right person for the other four fears and reframes. Check out my post on LinkedIn.
