A speaker argues that interview shows alone won't build thought leadership. You need to own the conversation and lead with your own ideas, not just appear on other people's platforms.
Our clients don't want a podcast. They want thought leadership. For their thought leadership to actually be impactful, you need an audience. Our clients actually are using that language. They're coming to us saying they want thought leadership, which is another honestly reason that we had to think really critically about the types of shows that we produce. Because fewer people are saying yes to being guests on shows, it's becoming less effective as a relationship building tool. And interview based shows, you're actually forfeiting all of the thought leadership to your guests. And so we're hearing from our clients that they wanted thought leadership and that they wanted to do an interview based show. It's kind of a reeducation of like if you want the thought leadership, you actually need to have the thoughts and lead with those thoughts. That just means having an episode format that maps to you riffing on a particular topic that everybody in your space is talking about right now, but you want to be able to control that conversation.
