Time blocking allocates specific calendar slots to tasks instead of just listing them. The method aligns your priorities with actual time, making sure important work gets done rather than getting pushed aside by urgent interruptions.
Many of you hear the word time blocking and break out in hives. So, first of all, what is time blocking? Time blocking can be summarized as the way to align your priorities with your calendar in order to ensure that you're actually productive. Now, that's a lot of terms all jumped in there, but really all it is is just saying, hey, here's what I want to focus on and here's when I want to focus on it. By adding that when element, as opposed to just having a to do list of priorities, we can give ourselves the actual space in our day to do the thing we said we wanted to do. Now, the use of the term productivity in this definition can also throw people off. So, just to be clear, I'm talking about productivity that is measured by just how fully you do what it is you've set out to do in the moment. By taking our priorities, putting them on our calendar, and then doing them. That alignment between our priorities and our time, that's what productivity means and how this is useful.
