This is a YouTube video titled "Should you use ClickUp Start Dates?" containing a monologue or instructional talk recorded on November 1, 2022, discussing best practices for using start dates in the ClickUp project management tool, emphasizing when start dates are truly necessary versus when subtasks are preferable. The speaker advises against overusing start dates to avoid annoyance and inefficiency.
Paul is wondering if I recommend you use start dates in ClickUp and I think, much like Paul, use too aggressively. Start dates become incredibly annoying. I do recommend folks use start dates, but only for tasks where you need I mean need capital N. You need a reminder of when to start that task. That duration matters a lot. For example, if you have, you know, all of your drywall contracting clients inside your ClickUp, if you need to be at the job site for three days, it makes sense to me for you to have start dates and due dates to reflect the 3 days you need to be there. But if there's just something you want to think about, please do not put a start date two months in advance so you start thinking about it two months in advance. In those situations, you're going to be better off using subtasks and have each thing broken out one by one. The only time we want to use start dates is when that constant awareness is truly essential for the project to be done.
