A founder walks through the actual tools that run a 150-person remote agency: Slack for communication, ClickUp for task management, and Google Docs for documentation. The focus is on structured processes that keep a distributed team organized.
The main communication day to day that we do as a company is on Slack, as when we're chatting with each other, when we're giving an update. The way that we organize projects and tasks and expectations and deliverables is within ClickUp. So we have very standard sort of processes for how we build things within ClickUp. There often within ClickUp we will link out to Google Docs, Google Sheets, and that's where these sort of ongoing evergreen living documentation exists. If it's something that's sort of too long to just document in ClickUp and we want to be accessible to everybody, we'll make a Google Doc for that. We have a really kind of structured process for how we design things on Google Docs and explain things and make sure that the information is clear enough for us. We try to keep things simple. Obviously we have some other tools we use for different departments. We pay people with deal and gusto. There's all sorts of tools and technologies we use in different parts of the organization. But I think the way you design it will be unique to yourself. But for us at least, sort of a Slack communication with a ClickUp, task management with a G suite documentation is what's worked for us.
