What keeps me motivated is my family and my friends. That's the easy answer. But I'll be honest with you. What keeps me motivated every single day, above and beyond that is being told. Many years ago that I would never amount to anything. In 2012, I went to an inbound conference and I had no clue what HubSpot was, what inbound marketing was. But I quickly learned that it was the way that companies should be doing their marketing, moving forward in a more human way. I'm just a straight up goofball. Like, I love to have fun. And so when I give a talk, it's never going to be monotone, it's never going to be boring, it's going to be exciting, we're going to laugh. The other thing that I think people are pulled in by is the fact that I never try to be something that I'm not. I just try to be me. Right? And I have three things that when I'm on stage, I'm focusing on. I'm focused on being human, I'm focused on being helpful, and I'm focused on being happy. And when you're on a stage, and those are your three key factors, people just tend to just be engrossed in what you're talking about.
Huge lack of certifications, and what that equals is there's a huge lack of education to the tactics and strategies and methodologies that we should be using to make our businesses to make ourselves successful.
I want every audience member to leave with the understanding that they can achieve what might today seem impossible. I want them to understand that the true key between them not being successful and being successful is the education that is freely out there on the Internet.
There's going to be a change in what you're going to need to invest in. You might not be investing as much money into your business, but you realize that comes at a cost because you're going to invest more time and you're going to have to grow the skill set of the people inside your walls.
Roadmaps, accountability, education and the ability to change. That's what I want them to leave with. Because at the end of the day, it's not about me. It's not about me. I'm not up there trying to be some superhero. I'm pouring every ounce of my body out to the audience so that their life can be better when they walk out the doors.
Do you want to be where you're at for the rest of your life or do you want to be in the game and change things? That's why education is important.
There are two things that define how successful they're going to be. And these two things will be in every talk that I give from today until there are no more George B. Thomas talks. And that is education is the key and aggressive work ethic. You learn it and you implement it. You learn it and you implement it. And if you can rinse and repeat that and make that the priority of your life, no matter if I'm the speaker or a hundred other speakers that you listen to, if you take that and run with it, you will be successful. What I realized is I love to learn.
Every day I want to learn something new. And I also learned a very valuable thing is that once I learned those things, I wanted to teach those things to other folks.
