A manager explains the 10-10-10 framework, a 30-minute one-on-one meeting structure from Manager Tools. The speaker shares how this simple format changed a team member's emotional state and improved their work life.
And I mentioned the 30 minute one on one meeting, the O3, which comes from manager tools. I use that technique with my own team, and the framework they have is 10, 10, 10, 10 minutes to ask whatever the employee wants to discuss. 10 minutes of what you, as the manager, want to discuss. Although in my experience, most of the stuff on my list the employee will bring up earlier. And then 10 minutes about planning for the future, which could be around professional development. It could be around other things, around their career trajectory or maybe longer term projects that they're working on, things like that. I got a comment from a team member several years ago who at that point was in her mid-30s. And she said after the first o3, she said, this is the first time a manager has ever asked what she wanted to talk about.
