Unboxing the HubSpot Remix Tool

HubSpot's Remix tool lets you upload videos, PDFs, and CRM data to generate social posts, emails, and ads automatically. Blake Reichenbach and George B. Thomas walk through how it uses your brand kit as context, handles videos up to 2 GB, and pulls clips from transcripts without manual editing.

Good morning and good afternoon. LinkedIn friends, HubSpot Nation here with a super special edition of let's Unbox Doing Content Remix today with Blake Reichenbach, our product manager friend from HubSpot. And of course, George B. Thomas joins on the morning show. And we just can't get enough of all these product updates you've been dropping for us, Blake, and Remix. We had to get in here and check it out. How you doing today, man?
Yeah, doing well. Doing well. I'm super excited to go through the remix unboxing with you all. My team has been putting in a lot of really amazing work to keep refining and iterating on this feature. I think being introduced is super special. Just really warms my heart. So happy to be here. Happy to chime in.
Well, Blake, let me give you some context because this, by the way, is my first official unboxing episode. I have not been on one, nor did I really, like, feel the need or necessity to be on an unboxing. Will I watch him? Yes. Do I like learning? Yes. But when Chris was like, we need to do an unboxing of remix, I'll be there. I'll be there. Like, tell me what time, what day? So I am here because I'm super excited to just dive into this conversation with you and Chris and be a little bit of a fly on the wall, but I'm sure I'll have some questions along the way, brother.
Awesome. Well, it's an honor. And you know, please, please, please feel free to send questions my way as they come up.
Oh, and. And they shall. And I try not to hold back on the strategy conversation too. And like, so this is the second time officially that I'm doing this because last year as I started doing content, it was right around the time that Content Hub was launched and the very first one was HubSpot memberships. I did an unboxing episode and then the next day was Content Hub. And then I realized I didn't have nearly enough time to do everything in one hour and then did Remix, I think, on that Friday. A lot has changed since then, but since then, challenge I'd like you to speak to is people like George and myself understand the value of AI in all of its ways. And we've developed pretty strong affinities for GPT projects and Claude projects and all these other LLM tools around HubSpot. And I know I can speak for myself. That's definitely a big factor into why I'm unboxing this today and not like six months ago. How do you guys think about that in terms of not necessarily competing with that, but knowing that that might be some friction to get users in here because they're used to these other spaces. Yeah.
You know, the way that I think about it is like, AI, this might be a surprise. AI is changing a lot right now and I think a lot of businesses, especially their marketing teams, are figuring out what does it look like for. For them as an individual organization to continue excelling at marketing with everything changing, with AI impacting their workflows. And when it comes to figuring out, like, when should I be using ChatGPT versus Claude versus Remix, obviously user preference and established patterns of behavior are going to factor in a lot. But then the other part that I am always thinking about is like, how do we make things stupid simple for teams? And when it comes to a tool like Remix, what I really like about it, like, obviously I'm biased. I've been working on Remix since its inception. But what I really like about Remix is like, if you're already doing all of your content publishing and distribution through HubSpot, then why not generate things like pages and blog posts and ads and social posts directly in HubSpot, where you're not having to constantly copy and paste back and forth and just cut down that middle step a bit so that you can go from, here's a campaign or initiative that I want to amplify. I'm going to convert it across all of these channels. I'm going to say, yep, that's fairly close to what I want. Go in, make my edits publish and not have that back and forth with copying and pasting.
I love that you said that's fairly close to what I want. And then make your edits. I'm a firm believer of AI assisted human powered. And so like the idea of yes, I do want to remix because I think it's cool. Human powered, then you get the AI assisted remix and then again, human powered coming back at the end of it, like getting it to what it needs to be. I will, I will tell you, Blake, as I'm listening to this, like, I love that you mentioned, like, dumb, stupid, simple for teams. The other piece that I think the reason I'm on this unboxing today and the reason why I think you've got reached this tipping point of like, wow, are they actually going to pull me off of my process I've used for the last year and a half in chat GPT? Are they finally going to do it? Is that it? It's so connected to so Many other things at this point. I know we're gonna get there and I'm gonna let the cat out of the bag a little bit. But when I saw Remix based off of Lists, I was like, oh, wait a second, can't do that in chat gbt. So. So I'm just excited to kind of, you know, think of that too. It's simple for teams, but also connected the pieces that these other tools might not connect to in a way that HubSpot can do because of it being an all in one kind of platform for this content stuff.
Yeah, you know, I think it's really good to call it at this point that like when you're working with an AI tool, the value it creates for you is only going to be as good as the context that you're able to provide to it. And what system knows more about your business than HubSpot? Right, right. If you've been on HubSpot for a while, you have a lot of data in there. You probably have your contact deals, your products and services, so much of your content. And you know, I think one thing that I'll be really transparent about because you know, if you were just a customer on a one on one call with me, I would also be transparent about it. There is like we're still working on connecting all of these data sources, doing, doing so in a way that is responsible, where we're not going to run into any issues around sensitive data or pii, and then also in a way that's scalable and it's going to be really performant and reliable for customers. So I acknowledge it's still a work in progress. That's why you're seeing these product updates coming out where we're saying like, hey, here's that first pass at pulling in your list data to create custom content. Here's that first pass at bringing in all of your brand identity to make your content really feel like you. It's one of my favorite things about being on the product team at HubSpot is like we are very encouraged to listen to customers and to continuously iterate and make our products better. And so yeah, when we're looking at this future of marketing in a world that's like deeply infused with AI, that's the type of thing that we're thinking about is like, how do we leverage all of this really amazing data and context and information that lives inside your HubSpot portal so that what you're creating is something only your business could create or only you as an individual could create it's?
Almost like. And then I'll shut up, Chris, because I know you got places you want to go, but it's almost like I'm envisioning a world where for so many years, Blake, we've called HubSpot our CRM. And I, I really do feel like we're moving into a place where in the near future, yes, it will still be our CRM, but HubSpot is almost our LLM. Like everything in there. You could consider the brain of the model that is the AI to XYZ business and that, that excites me.
Yes. And I think that's where similar to, you know, sometimes when people want to understand why HubSpot is different, why the ecosystem is different, why, like it's just a different animal, however you slice it. I started like grow better as a, as a tagline and it's like if you could just pull away all the subjectivity and just understand what those words mean at their core and believe that like that is what HubSpot stands for. Similarly to your point, George, like, I think the same could be said for customer platform. Like if we could just understand that this is a platform that will handle any and all like customer related processes and data and all that stuff for the business. I try to get clients there and, you know, even other partners there because it starts to just create a lot easier conversations in terms of why it's not just marketing hub anymore, not just CRM, why you want to put your website in there with all these other things. So I love that. And even from an AI perspective, like we've talked about tech stacks and then we've got operations teams and then somebody's in charge of processes. Like if we can define that as like, this is the platform part of your business, right? It's technology, it's AI, it's processes, it's training. Like, that has to be really scoped out, like all together now to really leverage what we're about to show today to the fullest degree. So I'm not going to waste any more time and we're going to jump in there.
Let's go.
And I will say, like, feel free to speak up or stop me or like say whatever you need to say. Blake, this is a little bit different than usual because I have seen this before, I have clicked around. Not a true unboxing. So feel free to guide as, as much or as little as you want. But we'll start with the context conversation that we were just talking about right now. I know that there is brand identity Settings over here where we now have like the brand kits moving. A lot of people probably just got an email about the brand kit stuff. Changing its spot used to be over in account defaults, right. But now we've got brand Voice, got mission terms to avoid replacement rules, inclusivity stuff. Got additional context down here, but ultimately this is going to be the context home base, you said. Was it just recently that Remix started taking this stuff into account?
For quite a while, we actually were including the part that's over here on the right under brand Form Voice. If you had set that up, we were including it by default, but that was happening pretty explicitly on the back end, so you weren't always even aware that we were pulling in that data. But as this particular set of features has evolved into a more robust brand identity feature and pulled in more data points, we wanted to surface that and make it super clear. Now we tell you directly, hey, we're applying your brand identity. And if you're in a portal where you haven't set this up yet, we link you directly to this page so that you can set it up quickly and easily. Because I think one of the things that we're seeing like as a product org, our marketing team is that the more search changes and traditional SEO shifts, the more important brand is and being able to define your brand and have a really consistent brand experience for users, the better. So, yeah, we're pulling this front and center as much as possible now.
Awesome. I think you answered a question for me there, because I was going to ask how do we know to go.
Do that.
If it hasn't been done before? Users are being prompted over here.
Yeah. So the way that it shows up is if you're inside of a remix and selecting the content that you want to create. Now, I believe you would see like a little note that says, like, your brand identity is being applied. If you haven't set it up yet, then you have a different helper text there that says like, I don't remember the exact phrasing, even though I think I wrote the copy for it. It's something along the lines of like, consider setting up your brand identity or something along those lines.
Awesome.
And I love this because as like a recovering designer slash pseudo developer, I don't know how far you guys will with this, but my brain immediately goes to like, okay, you might want to make sure that your logo is probably some type of PNG version. You know, putting your colors in here because I, I would love to, you know, remix to pay attention to like, oh, it should probably have these accent colors and we could layer a logo here and like just the, the magic things that could happen based on having the context of, of all of this. I mean, even imagine this, like if I let my brain wander, I go to that. In here is theme, which means that I've also set theme settings to which then there's a deep context level of understanding what it should look like to go with where it's going to be being potentially placed on a page or whatnot. So, like, it's just beautiful to think about how deep this goes real quick to what could be extrapolated via the use of AI assistance.
Yeah. You know, I will say, like, getting our AI to consistently respect theme colors is like, it's an ongoing challenge that we're still chipping away at. But with regards to the theme that you set up, one of the recent releases for Remix functionality that we had that I'm like so happy about because I've been wanting it like since we launched is like the ability to use your own landing page and website page themes. When we've historically generated content for a page inside of Remix, we've relied on what we call content scaffolding, which has historically been something that like our default templates, it supported content scaffolding. Or if you had a developer, you could like manually create a schema file and do all of that. But now we've finally got it in place where whatever your template is, whatever your theme is, you don't have to manually define a schema. We can just use that template. Even with your custom theme, we're now able to go in, assess the theme file, determine what that schema should be, apply it automatically, and then generate content for it.
Chris, I need a new sound effect. I'm going to do my best, but that's hot. Like, yeah, sound effect on the board right now.
Max, Max, send it over. He has pressing the button on the podcast. Yeah. Oh, man. I need, we need like a five part series here for being honest. But I'll do my best to balance questions versus progress. Like, so we start here with the foundational stuff. Now we can go over here, channel optimizations and. Speak to the balance of. Because for me, let's say it's as much as I want to just click on this stuff, right? If I know that this stuff exists, I might say like, all right, I just got to get all that stuff done, like first. And I'll do all my settings because we got data sources over here too. Of course. First and foremost, if you haven't turned AI, generative AI and HubSpot. That's important, especially the files data for what we're looking at today. But then we've got these data sources and this is my favorite part of a lot of the tools like prospecting agent and social agent. Like really not letting you try to leverage the AI tools if you haven't filled out like some level of context on who you are, who you're trying to serve and how you serve them. So we've got ICP over here, products and services and then user profile and company profile related to these other settings in the portal. But let's say I'm here and I've never done any of that stuff like for my business I might have it sitting on like a, you know, a Google Drive or some kind of documentation somewhere. I start clicking on, I like get into, okay, I want to create stuff. Do you have recommendation on like when it's like let's, let's create some stuff and then go back and, and do that. Like how do you help people through that part?
Yeah. So if it's all right, I'm actually like, I'm going to take off the product manager hat for a second and put on my former like copywriter and content marketer hat and say like, if you really want to get a taste of remix and what it can do, putting in that brand identity information first is going to be the most important little insider scoop right now with the way that we're working on the back end. It's that brand identity section that we are weighting most heavily in how remix functions. The services and icps are not weighted quite as heavily as that brand identity information. So I guess that is the product manager hat. But yeah, definitely, I would say start with that brand identity. But quick remix hack, if you have your brand identity information in like let's say you put together like a brand kit PDF or you just have it in a working Google Doc or like even if you're coming out of like, you know, raising funds and you have it as part of your business plan. Slight remix hack. Let me caveat this by saying a, it's best to go ahead and set it up inside of your brand settings. But Remix supports multiple inputs. And so if you, let's say have a white paper you want to remix and you have that document, that is here's all of my brand information. Just start from both of them and it won't be quite as, you know, intentionally fine tuned as if you set up those brand identity settings. But like, for a quick start, it works pretty well.
It's interesting you're calling that a hack Blake, but my mind goes to. Blake just explained what I've historically done in ChatGPT, where I've taken multiple files to give it the context it needed to create the thing that I wanted to create, which I hope people understand. If you've been again, guy like I, or maybe guy like Chris, where we're like, oh, it's not up to par yet in just saying that you could hack it that way, almost says, hey, guess what? It's up to par with that. In my mind, like, yeah, that was.
One of the last clicks that led to us even starting talking about, like, we gotta find a way to start using this tool. I think it was the custom themes or maybe the PDF. It was like there was a moment where I clicked like, oh, this is now just like a cloud project. Like, I can build it out exactly in the same way, which I talked to the Brand Identity Team. That's kind of what I've been waiting for, where it's like, the stupid simple part for me is everything that's in Claude. Let me just, like, move it over here, right? And as I see things like, so what I'm hearing is don't overthink, like, add URL, add text, add PDF, right? Like, whatever we got that's already done, like, can be used to help support this. So I'm going to click on this again just to kind of show what that looks like. So we're here and very simple. In the front, we've got add content. Click on that button. And we've got blog pages and text, video podcasts and audio image contacts. This is the new one. Yeah, I need to learn remix first before I click that one.
That's the joy of an unboxing, right? You get to find all the new stuff.
Yeah, but this just makes. Oh, man, we're in this. I've been asking the content team for a long time, like, just let it touch the CRM, like, in some way. Like, because we do all this object work of structuring all this data, and it's like properties and context that could be serving, like, all of the AI infrastructure. And so this is the kind of, I guess a hopeful flag here of, like, what could be in terms of starting to interact with CRM data is very, very exciting to think about. So I've got a video in mind that I want to start with and I've already got it in HubSpot. So we're gonna See how good. Oh, there it is right there. Breaking free from the leads trap with George B. Thomas. Yeah, here.
That's a good video.
What kind of file size limits do we have, if any?
Yeah, so technically within Remix and like what we can process, we don't have hard limit on the file size that you can start from. That said, there are a couple of systems that work together between Remix and the file manager for us to be able to know the files there, see the data we need about the file, develop the transcript, remix it. Sometimes if your file is really, really big, you might run into some timeout issues. In my experience though, for a video, anything between 30 minutes and an hour, probably going to be fine. If you've got a strong Internet connection and don't, you know, have problems uploading, probably going to be fine.
Cool. Because There is a 2 gig limit to add video files that I've run into and it's about the same as an hour worth of content. So we've got the video here.
And.
I've got some dots here. So can change the content type easily. I want to. But add more source material. How about that? And I've got a page in mind that is a site page and it is.
Come on, brother Framework.
I don't remember what I call everything, George. See I'm like, this is messiness, right? We're, we joke all the time, like.
All the time that naming things is the hardest part about developing software. And I think naming things just the hardest part in general, whether it's content management, software development, whatever.
Yeah, I almost asked that question already. Are you seeing or suggesting. Because naming conventions has been a thing just like since forever to the point where I've never been able to find effective best practice articles and they're all super just very general, whatever works for you. And I feel like that's one of the things that AI is going to help with like immensely. Are you, has there been any like advice from you or your team in the past that now like you're thinking like, okay, maybe don't worry about what it's named like so much?
Well, you know, I think a. Putting that my old content marketer hat back on. Like, I do think the advice of the best naming convention is whatever you can do consistently is still super solid. But switching back into AI Product Manager, I do think that what we're starting to see now just kind of across the industry and then also in some of the functionality that's currently underway is like AI is really good at things like categorization and taxonomy and the way that semantic search works along with things like vector embeddings really do simplify things quite a bit. When you can go to a chat widget and say, hey, find all of my documents where I talk about this specific feature, it can just do that. I think that we're seeing something similar. We will be seeing something similar when we think about tools like Remix and others across HubSpot where pretty soon you're going to be able to say I don't remember what this page is called, but I do remember that it's about this specific promotion and should start getting pretty, pretty good results there.
Yeah, that's awesome. And will help a lot of people. So info here. Start from multiple sources, add more. Okay.
So if we call back the. This is where we would apply the hack of like if you've got that PDF or that doc, we would just add it as an additional source.
Yep, exactly.
Yeah. Love it.
Yep. So there's, I mean this is where I like to play with how good it is like because there is a script that was behind this and we drafted other like to make sure it's on point. How good. I think that's what we've seen like especially when I did the video marketing platform, like the capabilities related to video specifically have just like sped up so fast. Are you seeing a lot of usage in terms of users experience that? Because there's a lot of things, I mean let me back up like come a long way in one year for users that showed up right away and were like, oh, this is not what I need it to be. I'm gonna, I'll wait till it gets better. Like what are your favorite things that have happened to be like, okay, this should be a no brainer, like if people know it exists, they will definitely be in here using this.
Yeah, you know, I think to, to answer kind of both flavors of that question right around video in particular, I think one of the things that has been really exciting to see is like we've consistently had customers say like I know I need to be creating video content where everyone says you need to be creating video content. But like that lift to create video content and work with it has been such a barrier to entry that like a lot of marketing teams just haven't been able to prioritize it. And so now we're starting to see more and more marketers take videos that they already have either from just like recording a walkthrough of their product or doing a webinar or just like sitting down with Some team members reporting conversation and they're starting to figure out, okay, here's how I can pull that in and integrate that into my marketing. But I think for your other question about what have I been, I think you said most excited about in terms of this functionality and helpless are using it. Honestly, the part that I've been most excited about is for the original pass at the video functionality. My team built all of that. We built both the video ingestion pipeline, we built the video editor, we built the new clip rendering pipeline, we built the first version of this. What I'm most excited about though, is that we now have a dedicated team that's been able to pick that up and make it so much better by just focusing on rich media. So they've gone leaps and bounds ahead of where we were a year ago or where we were six months ago, I guess, to be able to give users insights into all of these video details. They've refined the video editing experience a lot to make it easier to create those really compelling clips. And so I think, yeah, with the video functionality particularly, I've just been super impressed that we've been able to create this shared vision around how can we help marketers engage with video content and take away some of that sense of overwhelm. And this other team has been able to really run with that and do some cool stuff.
That's awesome. Yeah, this was a turning point for me for sure. And it was after that unboxing episode with anchor and Amanda because we do a morning show every day and it's easy to go and press play on LinkedIn and have it stream to YouTube and then it would be nice to just remix it in all the ways and get. Do the podcast. And even though those tools exist in HubSpot, right, like the steps related to saving the video file somewhere and then grabbing the transcript and like maybe you can do it in Riverside or Streamyard, but then you got to take it and you probably move it to GPT or Claude that there was like immediately I understood there's like two or three steps that just went away by. Instead of storing to Google Drive, I bring the video right into HubSpot and I can grab these descriptions and makes life a lot easier. Just these steps that are seemingly small just add up, right? And any like no matter the size of step can, can lead to that like overwhelm or like, oh, it's gonna be too hard or, or let me get into this kind of mind space so I can like focus on it. Just all these things that we tell ourselves. When I saw this, it was like, okay, this is again, like is powerful. Helps with a lot of long standing problems that marketers, you know, have been having. So love to hear. You know that you're the first pass at this. This is one of my favorite product updates of all time. I think in HubSpot, like this was like we do the show every day and this I just was so surprised, like 100%. I hadn't even. George knows. I try to predict things all the time and I hadn't even touched it. I'm hoping for more video storage. That's what I'm hoping for. Okay. The remix and videos. That must mean the cap is going to go up and then you guys deliver this and I'm just like, oh wow.
Yeah. When you're talking about those small tasks that add up over time, I think the more I work in content marketing and the more content marketers I speak to, the more I realize that like you tell the average marketer a big task and they're like, yeah, cool, great. But then as soon as that task starts getting broken down into like all these little details that go into it, suddenly you're having to do that mental calculus of like, well, if I'm spending all of my time generating these timestamps, that means I'm not monitoring this paid campaign. Or if I'm spending all of this time like cleaning up my transcript, that means I'm not creating that new content for the blog. And those trade offs really make it tricky to juggle, especially with something like video. So yeah, I agree. I think these updates have been overdue and they've been super helpful indeed.
So we're going to click this plus button and I'm going to come back and I'll do it over here too because there's a couple that's again the double edged sword of HubSpot. There's about 10 different ways to do everything, but once you figure out the ways that work for you, it's super powerful. We're going to click this button. Freeform prompt custom instructions for how you want to transform your content. Honestly, if we have more time, I would, I would leverage that. I'm gonna choose it just in case something I hope happens. It's gonna happen. I'm gonna click video clips. I'm not an ads guy, so sorry folks, I'm not gonna click that. That button.
PPC crowd's gonna be.
Yeah.
Coming your way.
Yeah. They need to move along. Probably in the world at large anyways. AI's yeah, different conversation.
Can we just take a pause for a second? And this that to say that there's SMS in here as well. Chris. Like something you don't inherently think of when you're thinking about content marketing is how do I remix this to an SMS message? But if you have HubSpot SMS now, that can actually be something that you can think about, which is quite amazing.
Agreed, agreed. And that gets to the. See if we have time, but I'm just going to click this button. The idea of a couple clicks away from just entire campaigns of content that are personalized, that are focused on specific audiences, like, that's been the struggle for most. Like, you need teams of people to support this vertical. And then that was the hardest thing internally. Like all these organizations, you have like five different verticals you're focused on. Somehow one marketing team is supposed to do content marketing effectively. And my advice was always like, you need a different set of resources that are focused on that message and that audience. And I don't think we're necessarily there anymore based on what I'm seeing here. So for ease of moving forward, I'm just gonna use this example here. Highly recommend getting more sophisticated with your prompts based on the goals that you have.
Just slightly.
Yeah, like anything else in HubSpot, if you're gonna put the effort in, like, have some goals ahead of time.
What I will say with, with the attributes, but especially with the prompt for the freeform prompt content type is like the way that I have found this to be most useful is think about using it the way that you would use just like part of a conversation thread in ChatGPT where like, maybe you have a bunch of stuff but you don't know what you want to do with it yet. Ask, say like, hey, what would be a good way for me to get the most value out of this content for this audience for blah, blah, blah, blah, and it will generate a response that you can then build off of. I've also found it really helpful for. Let's say you're starting with a pillar page or some source material. Tell it to generate a brief that expands upon one of those bullet points and it'll generate that. Then because you can build these tiers into remix, you can then create a blog post, a landing page, and a social ad or social post off of that brief. Right. So the freeform prompt gives you a lot of flexibility. And then generally for the other content types, anytime you see custom instructions as an attribute there, like the formula that I have found most effective is Tell us what is your goal and for whom, and if you have a specific point you want to focus on, tell us that as well. But as long as you give us your goal and your audience, you're going to be in a pretty sweet spot.
Well said. Question I have immediately is I just did the work to say like, this is my audience, this is their facing. How should I see this set of custom instructions? I'm hoping that I don't have to just copy and paste this into here.
If the goal is the same across all of the content, then right now copying and pasting it across each is going to be the quickest way to do that. I won't make promises about forward looking things, but one of the items that is pretty much always at the forefront of my thoughts is like, how do we make this quicker, how do we make this easier so that, what if we introduce an earlier step where you're asked a couple of questions about your goals and then we fill all of this out for you and just let you edit it. Right. Things like that that we're currently thinking through and figuring out what's gonna make the most sense for users.
Blake, I like what you're throwing down there. I like what you're throwing down there. Like, because it's like you could give it high level context and then let the machine go even more granular to then, which again I go back to if I had these three, five, seven boxes that now I knew I was just coming back and tweaking a little bit or making some slight additions, it would speed up the process so much more. Yeah, I, I love that. Here's to the future, ladies and gentlemen.
Cheers.
Cheers. Yeah, I'll drink to that.
So I will play it safe then and I'll just copy this in and make the changes based on what I'm trying to create. I always like letting AI decide the style in these scenarios and then just running with it like, all right, that's our new style, man. If I could get more people to like ease up on the brand identity and kit and guidelines and just kind of embrace, embrace what you can do quickly when it looks good. Like, how do we, you know, create some more flexibility with all of our rules? I think people are going to be learning in short order if they're not already. There's one of my favorite things about George's new website, Sidekick strategies, like, because it was coming at a time where everybody was pretty down on AI generated images because everybody was trying to like replace stock images and do the usual thing but, and maybe you could speak to this, George. But like, basically you chose a theme that was fit really well by Generative AI and you just like popped out some of the most, like some really cool looking stuff.
Yeah, I mean we weren't trying to like fool anybody. One, two. We did pick. And by the way, this is a, I think a little bit of a hack or an understanding just around AI in general is like we picked a theme, a direction and then we just played with it and again, sidekick strategies. So it's kind of superhero type kind of theme, but also business related. And you know, it was, it was a fun little test. And we have images and we have pages and people sign up for our services. I'm, I'm like, I don't know what else to tell you. Like, it works like.
Yeah, you know, I think as much as marketing has changed over the last year, two years, right at the core of it, it's like, are you producing something that is meaningful for your audience? Is kind of that, that core question that it comes back to. And so I think if it does include something like, you know, AI generated imagery or whatever, like, as long as you're checking that box of like, I'm not just doing this to entertain myself. I'm doing this because I can create value for my audience. Like, you're probably going to be in a pretty decent spot there.
I know you got other ideas, George, what else is popping up? I'm just connecting my social account here so I can leverage the tool.
Yeah, no, I'm, I mean, I'm honestly super interested to see like what, what it spits out and like what you can do because you did pick a, a large portion of things that you wanted it to, to try to do. It's, it's interesting where my brain does go because I start to think about this and that in HubSpot, the connective tissue. For years. Yeah, years we've been able to clone a campaign. Now what that means is something totally different than where my brain's going to go right now. Chris, you almost just created a campaign net new podcast website page. Like, and, and imagine like what we said earlier of like based on a list of contacts. Well, imagine being able to do a list of contacts and then all these different assets that flow back into a campaign that you're creating and launching to the world. So like it's AI generation, but then it's also the part that a lot of people care about is like reporting on its success once you've actually launched.
So yeah, I Oh, I, I, I, I love that you said that. I, I can't get into all of the details at this point, but what I can say is that, like, how remix and campaigns work together is a rapidly evolving and consistently evolving conversation. And, you know, I think you will be in for some pleasant surprises later this year is what I can say on that front.
Hashtag inbound. Hashtag inbound25. Yeah, Blake, I'm, I'm. See, it doesn't take much. I'm happy, I'm happy for the rest of the day. I should just clock out for the rest of the day. Be done.
No, I mean, everything that you said is like, it rings so true. Right? And I think when you are remixing your, oh, I need to fill out my editorial calendar. I just need to get more content out there. You know, I'm trying some experiments with new brand awareness stuff, or what's most common is you have a campaign and you're creating assets for a campaign. So that is, is definitely something that is top of mind for us and how we're thinking about what the connective tissue, as you put it, should look like and what shape that should take across these products.
So amazing. And then again, my brain goes to just another thing that you can't do in GPT or vod. Here we go.
We're generating in all this, like, I agree with the, like, the real factor, like you mentioned before, the thing I haven't solved for in Claude or the other, you know, platforms is team, team situations. It's been very challenging. I've been able to do with a few people. But now, like at Brownlee, we're, we're starting to leverage HubSpot more and more and we're creating more content and it's making this like, no brainer sense to get in here. And as everybody's in here and we're managing social and we're trying to do all this Omni Channel stuff, like, it's, it makes sense. Like, you can't deny how much time and how much value can be created from this tool that you cannot recreate, like, in other, any other way. Because this is where the, you know, the business data is.
Yeah, look, look at this stuff generate. Can, can, could this be a good place for me to add a wish list item? Like, are we allowed to do that on the show? I know this is unboxing of what it can do, but yeah, you absolutely are.
You know, I have to give the disclaimer, like, I can't make any promises or guarantees, but as A product manager. I always want to hear users wish list items.
Yeah, so. So imagine a world where you're in marketing, and imagine a world where HubSpot has worked on making marketing events way better. All right? And so therefore, you're a marketer and you're like, I should probably do events. And so you're like, hey, I've got this great blog article. I wonder how long it would take Jimmy over in design to actually turn it into a webinar deck. Oh, man, it's going to take a while. It's pretty heavy lift, so. Well, maybe let's just do that webinar in like, 90 days. But what if you could come into Content Remix? You could be like, hey, I have this blog article and I'd like you to turn it into a PowerPoint PowerPoint presentation for me. I use this thing called Gamma Thought, you know, anyway, and so, like, imagine some type of similar functionality where I could take a couple pieces of content and all of a sudden it could give me a presentation deck, at least a starting point to then do that webinar in, like three days instead of 30. That would be pretty dang dope.
And what if it could also, like, draft speaker notes to go with that?
Don't tease me, Blake.
Okay, okay. Hey, I'm just. We're just, you know, bouncing ideas around here.
Don't tease me. Like, first of all, your boy George B. Thomas would be decimating some content online, without a doubt. Because if you have a deck and speaker notes that are aligned to your brand, Voice inside of HubSpot, attached to a teleprompter, to be able to just go live and talk.
Yeah, all of the things. Let's make it happen from one. One video, one piece of content. It's all right. So before I go into this, I know, like, I'm seeing here, so video clips didn't fire for some reason. I know. It's worked over here for me. I think in a lot of cases, people might be best suited to come from this video area. Anyways, so I'm going to click remix into other content here and I'm going to say social email and trying to.
Get it to do all the things, brother, Just get it to do a thing or two is going to grab everything that's not. They're. They're just like, I need to get the videos out. Let me click that. Go.
All right, all right.
As a troubleshooting tip for anyone watching, if you do encounter something like this, where it says, oops, something went wrong, 80% of the time, you can just click on that and hit the regenerate button and it should resolve the issue. If there is a broader problem that is preventing it from loading correctly, then reach out to support. They'll be able to help you troubleshoot and diagnose it. But yeah, usually just hitting regenerate will solve that.
Am I the only one singing Britney Spears oops, I did it again? Maybe.
Sorry. All right, so I do have some anxiety here. What I've done in the past is like. So sometimes, a lot of times the advice I give is like, don't trust the error message. Just refresh the page in HubSpot and everything will be fine. If we do that here, there's not as much auto saving going on as other places in the portal. And I've definitely had to redo the whole remix real quick. Is there a way to close this sidebar without losing?
Actually, if you just close out of the sidebar, it might ask you if you want to save changes. That comes up with things like the freeform where there's an interactive text field occasionally. We're working on fixing it. It occasionally thinks you've made a change and you haven't. But here you should be able to hit refresh and what you have generated successfully should still be there.
Okay, so last saved at. So this actually has saved. Okay.
Oh, do me a favor. Hover over saved remixes. Oh, okay. I was. I was gonna. Yeah, so it goes. It's not a version history, but it's just all the remixes that you've had historically. Okay.
Okay.
Yep.
Okay, cool. Well, this was also. I wasn't. If I had read the directions, I should have understood that this would be the output. I was thinking that it was going to instruct the rest of the remix, which is why I asked that question. But this is also useful. But now it makes sense why we would copy that stuff into other stuff.
Remix is inherently hierarchical and leverages parent child relationships. Anything that you. Then if you click that plus button button below the freeform prompt, anything from there would leverage that freeform prompt context plus context from the original source material.
Okay. So I could see a common practice being like, let's do a freeform prompt first and then create the stuff. Okay, that's awesome.
That's actually very helpful.
Like, yeah, so, and this is, I think the. The main no brainer for if you're managing all this stuff in HubSpot, like what you can't do and why you do it here instead is like the ability to just click these buttons and then it goes to the place in the hubs in HubSpot that you know, relates to that thing. Obviously File Manager is like probably the least powerful version of that because it really is magical when you click on social and then you can go over to social and when it's an email and you can go over to email. That was really like even last year I was like, oh wow. Like that is a, is a thing that you can't do anywhere else. Here we've got a web page and I'm not even sure I've been doing a lot of work on my portal people to try and do some new stuff. Not exactly sure what this template would show, but to George's point, clearly I bit off a little more than I could chew for a live unboxing. I'm going to go over to the video version of this. Right. So good call, George. Like let's keep it, keep it low. We've got some video clips here. Stop. Stop treating humans like leads. That's definitely ones that I want. Audit your intent. And then discovered this yesterday. Like again, save and edit and edit app brings you right into a clip editor. Like unreal like inside a HubSpot. Like folks real video editor. If you haven't seen it yet and you have content hub or marketing hub. Plus you're already invested in this tool. Like there's no extra cost at the moment.
And what's mind blowing too just kind of mention a feature like notice landscape, you know, original. But then you, you can pick from other things to like put it on the platform that you actually want it to go on and you literally have like the crop feature and you can move the video around and it's like, it's just so flexible and easy to use so quickly out of the box. Like it's, it's nuts.
Yeah, we've got templates and brand settings over here. And then like this is where I know like putting in the same amount of work that I have for cloud, like truly giving it a fair shake. Like I've done a lot of work to get the cloud projects in place. When I see stuff like, oh, if I start developing content like our morning show for example, we always give a certain number of updates and we, you develop the content into what the remix can do. And like we move away from like eight random clips every time that you press that button on, on Riverside to get in real specific to I would imagine. And I look forward to playing with it more. Getting really good at clip generation which has been a struggle for Most like when you, when you want, when you have a specific message, when there's technical information can be very hard to get a good first pass clip out of all these other tools. Is that something we should expect experience wise, since we're doing it here?
I think so, yeah. The team that now owns the video functionality in particular, like I mentioned before, they've already done a lot of great work on improving the video experience and they're continuing to do even more great work on improving the video experience. And so I think that what you're describing is only going to get easier. When we originally launched the first version of the video functionality that was in place about a year ago, we very decisively didn't want to get into the territory of professional video editing, gaming, know, DaVinci, Resolve, anything like that. Those are great products if you're a video professional and you need that like high fidelity interaction with your video content. For most marketers it's overkill and it's going to deter you rather than help you and enable you. So we wanted again to like make it transcript based, make it really, really intuitive. And you know, I was, I was testing it out before we released it by like uploading videos of our CEO giving a talk and then like trying to see if I could clip out a memeable moment from it. Right. So that's what we were aiming for.
Yeah. And we do have to wrap running against time here. I just wanted to show this use case. So what I did there is I picked a list, a saved list of contacts and some manufacturing list List description is where like I use AI generated that. But that's where I could have said like it's manufacturing, like this is the product, this is what we want to talk about in this campaign. Even going to view the list in the CRM, it's powerful. So we've got a contact list and then add some more source material again I'll stick on that one and add content.
So I have to unpack this because. Keep going Chris. But I, I have to unpack this because you might want to pay attention to how you're actually describing things in HubSpot based on the understanding that it might get pulled into this tool and that's just additional context to what it will actually understand, like specificity and context in the descriptions of the things in HubSpot. I feel gets very important as we move forward.
It does, it does. And what I will say about this particular functionality, I don't know why the clips are deciding that they don't want to cooperate today for the live demo.
They're being shy.
They're a little shy. But what I'll say about the list functionality before we wrap up. It's currently in private beta in your portal. You can request access to it by going to all of the current feature updates. What you're describing about the list description is super, super true. If you're starting from a list description that is really specific, that is fantastic. If you have a description in the list app and then come into remix and want to use a slightly different description, that is totally fine. We're not going to change the description in the list app that your full team or your prospecting folks work out of. If you update your description here, that's just going to be used for the content that you generate.
I changed from six clips to four clips. It worked out okay. But also notice I didn't give it any notes about how long I wanted the clips to be. And these are much, much shorter than the other clips that we got. So context is everything folks. And so grateful for Blake and the team at HubSpot for making it so easy for us to give context now in HubSpot and really just oh, it's unimaginable folks. If you haven't been into Content Hub and Content Remix and the video, like please just do that. Like get out of your your regular day to day, like find time 30 minutes next week, 30 minutes later today. Like click on. You only need to see it happen one time. That's why we're here doing these unboxings. But when you can experience it for yourself, it can be hard to prioritize making that space for doing things you're not used to doing. But there is a ton of value to be created here. Thanks so much for joining us today Blake, for sure.
And for folks watching on LinkedIn, please feel free to connect with me, reach out. I'm always happy to talk Content Hub content review, Remix and and here's some of those wish list items.
