This is a YouTube video titled "What are SOPs?" containing a monologue explaining the concept of standard operating procedures (SOPs) by comparing them to a recipe for pasta. The speaker clarifies that SOPs are step-by-step instructions to achieve a defined result, typically used in business contexts.
Odds are you've heard the term SOP before, but you might not realize that it stands for standard operating procedure. And all that really means is this up here. No, not pasta, but a recipe. Standard operating procedures is just the series of steps you need to take in order to get a defined result. It's the way you write down how you do what you do so other people can then do it. In our normal day to day life, if I was going to tell you how to create this pasta up here, I would give you a series of steps and give it to you on a recipe card. I'd say, hey, here's my grandmother's recipe for amazing pasta, right? In business, it's no different. We just call those recipes SOPs because we want to be a little fancy.
