This is a YouTube video titled "When you order 10x more flyers than you need..." containing a monologue or talk from April 29, 2024, where a speaker shares a leadership lesson about handling team mistakes and learning from failures. The content involves a single speaker recounting a personal experience with an employee's error and the approach to addressing it constructively.
One of the things that's hard for leaders to do is to watch their team fail because it's inherently also our failure. And we don't like that feeling. I remember the first time that one of my early employees had messed up, and he said, ali, I meant to order 2,000 flyers, and I ordered 20,000. Okay, so it was a couple hundred dollars. But he's like, I'll pay for it. It's fine. And I said, you know what? I'll pay for it. It's a mistake. Tell me what you can learn from this. And he's like, we always double check the proof or the whatever, and I guarantee you he'll tell that story probably the rest of his life as well.
