Where are ClickUp (beta) automations? | April 2020

A walkthrough of ClickUp's Automations feature from April 2020, showing where to find it in list view and what it can do. The speaker addresses common confusion about the feature and its limitations.
ClickUp's Automations are here and unfortunately you're having a hard time finding them. You are not alone. In the instructions released by ClickUp as of this point, they state that you can find the Automations button anywhere near or near next to the list title. However, the list title shows up in a lot of places where that Automations feature actually isn't. So for example, here we are in Tasks. You're seeing my view here. We've got all of our list titles and yep, no Automation features here. You can flip through all the different settings. No Automations features, very confusing. You can go in here, you could maybe be in a board within your list and you're not seeing anything about Automations. The secret, just to cut right to the chase here, is that only in the list view will you see the Automations module next to the list title. Not sure why they didn't have a screenshot on that in the article. I'm assuming it'll probably be updated soon, but if you were like me and you were stumbling around looking for it, you're welcome. So make sure you have a list view. It's required field, so I'm sure you do, or required view rather. Click on that list view, open it up and here you will find the Automations features. You'll have some quick commands here, as well as the full world of Automations available to you once you start playing with it. This is the only screenshot you see in the instructions at this point, which is, you know, great if you can find it in here, it shows you your actual list title. And all of these operations are currently working only in the list view. I did test it out. Maybe I'm missing something, but at this point when I created a task in the board view, it did not get the Automations applied to it, so it's only happening in this list space as far as I can tell at this point. So again, you want to access this by going into it. Picking a list, any list. Pick a list, any list Looking for the Automations module. Creating an automation Once you create an automation, let's just create one here. Let's add assignee me from any to any. Sure create. You want to make sure that is toggled on is I've had it happen where it hasn't been on by default. So make sure that this is on and it is active so that your automation is actually working. You can also edit this once it's in there to make sure it is absolutely perfect. Once it's in there, you'll see the little one next to the, you know, I think it's supposed to look like a robot. It looks like a friendly alien. So who knows. But making sure that you always have these pieces in here and each one, each instance counts as an automation towards your limit. So backing up one second. The automation module has been released to automate tasks within the ClickUp ecosystem. There are some pretty harsh limits that are a little bit too limiting in my opinion that are set for each account level based on how much you are paying. So knowing here that we have two active automations, each time that automation happens it is keeping a running ticker for each month of how many times you're using that. I expect this automation limit to adjust and change over time as this is such a new feature. However it is there, this is where you find it. Mystery solved. So start diving in, Start playing with it. If you have any questions about how to use automations, check out some of my other videos and be sure to subscribe because I'm going to be putting out a lot more about this automation feature as well as just clip up in general when it comes to streamlining the workflows and the workload of small teams.
