Heavy overhead presses hurt your shoulders. Try a kneeling lunge hammer press instead: squeeze your glutes, brace your core, use lighter weight, and lower slowly. It hits your shoulders without the pain.

If your shoulders are hurting during your heavy shoulder presses, change it up so it's more functionally sound. You can get rid of the shoulder pain and still get that lift shoulders heavy. We're going to go into a kneeling lunge. We're going to squeeze our glutes, activate our core, and then bring this lighter dumbbell up in a hammer pressing alignment. This is so much easier for your body, your shoulder blade, everything else to functionally press. Plus, you have to use your core, your glutes, everything to stabilize it. Lower the tempo nice and slow. Focus on that shoulder blade moving around the rib cage, and that should decrease your pain in the shoulder and give you a great shoulder pump. You're welcome.
