Our Favorite Chicken Wings! (Keto/AIP Friendly)

Chloe Kelly shows how to make keto and AIP-friendly buffalo wings by roasting whole chicken at 425°F for 40 minutes, flipping every 20 minutes for crispiness, then tossing in cashew-based Primal Kitchen buffalo sauce or serving plain for AIP.

Hey, it's Chloe again with Reset U Fitness. Today I was in the kitchen and I was able to cook keto-friendly buffalo sauce chicken wings, and they are delicious. These can also be AIP friendly, which I'll give more information about that later in the video, but follow along. The ingredients you're gonna need to make this recipe are organic chicken wings, and these aren't disjointed yet, so you can buy them, you know, the wing and drum separate, or you can buy them together, and I'm gonna just show you how we separate those. Then you're gonna need a sauce of your choice. I really like this Primal Kitchen Cashew Buffalo Sauce. You can also have these just dry. Then pink Himalayan sea salt, pepper. I have a cutting board, a good knife, paper towels, a bowl, and a cookie sheet with the tray on top which I already lined with foil. First step, you're gonna preheat your oven to 425 degrees. The next step is you're gonna take each wing, which they're kind of silly right now, and really important, after you wash them, make sure you dry them really well. So you don't want any moisture on these. This is going to help for them to be extra crispy. So as I take these out, I'm just going to make sure they're dry. We're going to cut the wingtips, and then we're going to cut them at the joint here. Also, I like to cut off the pieces of fat. So after you make sure they're all clean and dry, you're going to go ahead and take them, feel for the joint— it's right between the drum and the wing— and you're going to just cut right where that joint is. Once they're separated like this, go ahead and cut these wingtips off. You can also trim off any excess fat. I don't mind it, especially when it gets crispy. I kind of like the extra skin, but if you don't, go ahead and feel free to cut those. Then you're just gonna take these and put them back in your bowl. So after you cut off all of the icky things, you're going to toss this with just salt and pepper, and you can add other spices if you'd like, but since I'm gonna have the buffalo cashew sauce, I'm not gonna put any seasonings on them. Also, this is 4 pounds, so it's a pretty good amount of wings. After you toss them with the salt and pepper, you're gonna line them on top of your cookie sheet, which I lined with this with foil even though there's the rack. Just to help with cleanup. When you place them on the rack, make sure it's just skin side up. We are gonna turn these every 20 minutes, but it's best to start skin side up. So now you're gonna take your wings and you're gonna put them in the oven once it's preheated to 425 degrees, and you're gonna put it in for 20 minutes skin side up. Then we're gonna switch every 20 minutes, we're gonna flop them. So 20 minutes is up, so we're gonna turn off the timer. Pull your wings out and we're gonna flip them. But be careful, we don't want to spill any of them. And then go ahead and just flip them all over. You can tell they're already starting to crisp up after only 20 minutes, which is really nice. Back in the oven for 20 minutes. Make sure you don't drop any of them, that would just be tragic. Once your 20 minutes is up, you're gonna check them, which it looks like ours are done. I don't think we'll need to put them in there any longer. So you're gonna be careful and you're gonna Go ahead and pull them out. After you get them out of the oven, they're gonna be really hot, so let's wait 5 minutes until we toss them in the sauce. So once they've been cooling for about 5 minutes, plop them in a bowl. If you don't want to have these coated in sauce, you can just season them or eat them as is, but I like to coat them in the sauce first. So once you have your wings in your bowl, you can choose any sauce you'd like. Again, this is the no-dairy buffalo sauce with cashew butter for Primal Kitchen. So I just like to coat as much as I feel like. And then toss. And that's it. So you can go ahead and plate them. I don't know if you like the wing or the drum more. I think I like both. This recipe would be great with a side salad, maybe cut up celery and carrots. Primal Kitchen also makes a ranch that's super good. But I just like to eat them like this. I hope you enjoyed today's recipe and we would love it if you would share it with a friend or if you're busy at work watching this, you can save so you can cook it later. Again, this is actually a keto-friendly recipe and it is AIP-friendly if you cut out the cashew sauce and you just do maybe the pink Himalayan sea salt and no sauces 'cause you can't do spices on the AIP. Again, this is Chloe Kelly with Reset You Fitness and subscribe.
