Climate Connect, [3rd Place Overall & Best Use of CockroachDB, SimpliHacks2.0]

Climate Connect won third place at SimpliHacks2.0 by building a platform for community climate resilience hubs in vulnerable neighborhoods. The site lets people sign up, chat, watch videos, and invite neighbors, tackling the gap between climate education and actual community preparedness.
Chapters
Hi. Our project is Climate Connect. Our goal was to establish community climate resilience hubs to connect communities to become more resilient, especially in cases of emergencies. The key issues are currently lack of connection, minimal education and environmental racism. A community hub with multiple chapters will enable residents to be prepared for community crises through trainings, resources and neighbor to neighbor connections. Our project scope is Vulnerable Communities, the bottom up approach and Virtual based access. This is a sample of what the costs or funding could look like for a project. The timeline would consist of planning, response, mitigation and recovery. We would be working closely with local cities, school boards, chapters and organizations to run this project. Our key partners and stakeholders would be cities, consultants, emergency services, teams and advocates. As more features get implemented with our website, we would be focusing on ensuring that we could streamline communications and cater to their needs. In communicating to those in need. In terms of challenges, the three key ones would be awareness, accessibility and services and spaces. People might not understand the impact of climate change and the importance of these communities. They also might not have accessibility to these resources and spaces. Now this is our prototype for our front end of the website. This website basically shows the individuals the different categories for different conversations that they can be a part of. And that includes climate strikes or even tree plantings or just understanding more about the laws. And then after they sign up and log in, they would be taken to a page where they could go to their videos. This is a overview of our actual hack. So we have it deployed on Netlify and basically users can sign up, then log in and once they're logged in, hello. This is where they can speak and have conversations with people.
Let's talk about climate change. What can we do?
They can also play music with the click of a button.
We born this place to save the world.
Next, they can invite a user to the room that they're chatting in and that's the email. Thanks for listening.
