Andrea walks through getting a free Tableau Desktop license as a student. Upload your school ID or transcript to verify, wait 3 to 5 business days for approval, then download and activate with your license key.
Meet Andrea A student at a local university, Andrea wants to learn some data analytics skills to stand out in a competitive job market. The good news? She heard about the Tableau for Students program through one of her courses. Eager to get ahead, she goes directly through the Tableau for Students webpage to make sure she receives the free one year long renewable license offered only to verify students. Instead of the 14 day trial, Andrea goes to get Tableau for free and enters in her contact information including a school issued email address. Once the form is filled out, Andrea hits Verify Student Status Andrea will need to upload documentation to verify her current enrollment status. Because her school does not have automatic verification, she can upload an image of her ID card with a future expiration date, her transcript with her current course schedule, or another school issued document as long as it includes her first and last name, school name, and the date of validity. After she chooses and uploads her file, Andrea can click Continue to submit her document for review. Andrea receives an email from Sheer ID on behalf of Tableau notifying her that her verification method wasn't accepted. This is probably because it was missing her full name, school name, or date of validity. There's nothing to worry about here though. Andrea simply uploads a different verification document that meets the criteria and is back on track. After three to five business days, Andrea's request has been processed and she's received an email containing her license information. Andrea opens up the email and starts by downloading Tableau Desktop. After it's installed, Andrea goes back to the email and copies her license key to activate it in the application. Now that Andrea has full access to Tableau Desktop for the school year, she's ready to learn Tableau, brush up on her data skills and tackle her courses head on to discover more free resources to help learn Tableau. Explore our entire entire Tableau for Students page.
