Award-winning artist JoJo sat down with us to chat about her new memoir

The music industry, the public, the way the algorithm works, like, it's shiny object phenomena. If you want to be, like, committed to a creative life, then be committed to a creative life and honing your craft and finding community and creating things that you enjoy and believe in and have that be the focus because chasing validation and likes and look, I know we need to make money. I know we need to survive, especially those of us who live in New York. It's insane. So I'm not saying, like, you know, just like, wee. Just like, I don't know. But find a way to not compromise your soul in the pursuit of success. And I don't know how you do that. It's gonna look different for everybody. You know, I can only speak for myself, but fame is fleeting. But integrity and work that you believe in can last forever.
