Okay, we are live. Cool. I think so. This is Bob Pearson, and I'm Guy Kawasaki. Bob is legendary surfboard shaver. Right. Don't be modest. Don't be modest. And we're in a shaping bay, and this blank is going to become my surfboard. If you're watching this, my friend Peg Fitzpatrick is managing a lot of stuff behind the scenes, and she's working with a company called Wave, of all things. And she's going to do a series about how to do live videos in seven days. So go to Wave Live for more information. The nail kick is make this 10:2, which is long turn good. EPS foam is light, lighter than polyurethane polyester. So it's going to be way maneuverable. It weighs nothing. I mean, nothing. It's 1.5 pounds. It's a pound and a half. That's the density of the foam. When I'm finished shaping it, we're going to throw half this weight off this, too. Anyway, go for it. I'm gonna make a lot of dust here. Put that on. I don't want to be here. You're gonna be in here. What do you think, caller? Get dirty? Get dusty? Well, you can just. You step it over here. I'm gonna raise some dust on this thing. We're gonna get some foam in the air. This light foam raises. So I already templated this thing, and I put some basic thickness in, but at the bottom, we got to add a little more rocker in this thing. So I'm going to go ahead and put a little rocker in. Then the concave. The concave up here increases the wetting area, but it makes this more stable for when I walk to the nose. Yeah. So that'll be more stable up here. Yes. I have no problem walking to the nose. It's staying on the nose. It's my problem. So I'm going to use these. Do you want a pair of these? Well, yeah, I don't want to. Okay, let me get you a pair. Everybody out there, post a comment where you're watching from. Okay, so we know where you are. And this is Calder Nold, who just went in front, best surfing coach in the world. Because if he can make me surf, he must be the best coach in the world. So here we go. Calder has been telling me for nine months to get a board made, and finally I saved up enough money. Finally. Listens, here's a. This will work. Okay. All right. So we put a bar on this, and I drew a line right here where we want to go, and that's going to be about four and a half inches of tail kick. So. So that's your tail kick. Now, we put the concave in this thing. That's a flat bottom. There's your concave. About 3:16. Right there. Now, we want to verify this curve. This is the magic. Right here. More out here, Dad. Whoa. That's it. Done. So that's it. We're not going to put any V in. We don't need it. We got all the tail tape. We got the rounded pin. We got the flat there for stability. Now, I want to check your thickness. We need to take about an 8th inch out of it. It's. Yeah. Someone tied a knot. I'm in sabotage. That'll work. We got our thickness now. Now I want to ban the rails. Oop. Sam. I graduated. Hey, how's it going? Introduce yourself. Sam. Sacred haircut. You get this side right, and you get this side, right. Super cuts. Super cuts. No, just a little. Get your mask on. You gotta get in there and move it. It. Hell, yeah. Got two ribbing here. Okay. Okay. Right there. Yeah. And what this. This is, though. What? You don't play with this. Put your hand here. Okay. Go ahead. And this. Go like this. Okay. Yeah, yeah. That way. It keeps the cord away from here. Now put it right here. See your. The plane of this? Yeah. That is about like. About like that. Not like that. Not like that. It's a plane. Okay, now let me see this. You sure? Turn that thing. Yeah, turn that thing. No, no, no. That's your cut. Okay, turn it again. Turn it the other way. There. Okay, that's the depth of the cut. Now turn it back halfway. Left or right? Anyway. Anyway, it'll go. All right, now the other way. Now the other way. Pull it right in the middle. Right in the middle. There you go. Oh, that's cool. She shapes too. So come here. Put it here. And you walk it all the way. The other end. Put it on it. Turn it on first. Yeah, That's good. Do it again. I'll get on this side. Yeah, take your time. Yeah. Guy. Yeah? We got a new shaper. We got extra room over there. Guy. It's. It's ra. It's sa. Sam. Sa. Oops. Oh. What do you mean, o. This part's coming out so good. I think it's going to be mine. You think so? I'll sell it to you. It's sam. Oh, frosty. Gonna go show him Pat's board. I want a template like this. Okay. This is Guy. So people come by. Oh, that's guy rail. Look at this. We got the flea. We'll have the guy here. Where's the laird? We'll say that busy here. We got it all. We had it all. It. Getting excited. We'll have to test this first part though, right? Yeah, yeah. Get the first ride. You got to let the designers and then your. And then your teacher go on the first main and you have to watch. I'm going to have no excuses. You're like. Well, you can see it works. Yeah, right. Theoretically. I know it's in there. I know it's in there. Kyla, you know where the masks are. Yeah. Get him a mask. Sa. This rail over here. You did it. Came out perfect. Is that the one? That's the one. That's that magic, right? We gotta copy that rail, guys. This your board? Yes. Oh my gosh. Cool. I showed him the video of you on the birthday. So fun. Best birthday ever. All right. I'm just thinking about how many pearls. Not anymore. All right, Well, I was going to go with two simple lines, but now that I've seen your boyfriends, I mean, you get inspired. Got to step it up. There's so many opt ins. So hard to make decisions. Feel the weight now. Oh my God. Yeah. We're getting rid of more too. Wow. Cool. Now this is original up here. I like that. That's been there for decades. Yeah. We sat here with Frosty and Jay. Yeah. We drew up some paddle boards. 15 foot frosty, 18 for me, 18 for Jay. And we have all the measurements. Jay was here, Frosty here's. And we're talking. We work it all out together. Da, da da. That's what we're gonna shape anyway. Jana leaving this world. It's a little bit. And so I didn't take that off. Still keeping it there. You do pretend that for me. I remember when we were doing that. The passion of Frosty J and me together on that. When we're doing that. Yeah. We're all fired up. Yeah. Yeah. I need to get design make this just all like this. Just passion, excitement, anticipation for the future. You know. It. I have a new business idea. Oh, I have a business idea. Bob. You should sell packets of shaving from your shaving from your shaving. This is Bob. Look at all that. That $5 a packet. Half a million dollars here. No, it's on your Instagram. What? You could do. It. More. Thanks for doing this, mom. Having fun. I just went to the DMV and did a bunch of stuff for my motorcycle. Cool. I'm gonna go home. See you. Oh, yeah. Everyone saw whatever you just did. There's 28 people watching. All right, see you guys soon. Have a good day. Yeah, let's keep in touch. Yeah. Sounds good. Have fun. Welcome back. Thank you. It. You gotta start slowing down once you get into the fine tuning. Is this on still? It should be. It's time lapse. I hope it's the longer one. Never really knows to go from. I don't. I wonder if there's a limit to how long you can be live. I don't think so. Until your phone dies. Once I get close to getting the shape I've had guys in here, I flip this board a lot like this. I've had guys grab a hold of the tail like this. I flip it except to hold the tail of the finger. So don't grab the hole in the tail. Sam, It's gonna look like a board. Yeah. Sam. It's easy, isn't it? Yeah, Just like social media. Yeah. I got that wire. It's like the same equivalent on either side. Never. Never heard of. Don't make it too nice. He's gonna make me hang it. All right, well, we'll screw it up somewhere. It. Get enough dust on you go as a shaper for Halloween. If I had hair, I'd go as Bob. I had some hair. Still carry a blank around. It's. I'm gonna sell it on ebay. Put that on your. It. Sa. That is unbelievable. Yeah. It's gonna be a light board when we're all finished. In physics, light carries better. Yeah. Flows better, paddles better. Catches waves better. Accelerates better. Changes direction better because of inertia. So how about stability? Light isn't so good for stability. Oh, don't tell me that. This. This. Oh, okay. Is wide. That's why we got this wide. Okay. Plus we didn't put a lot of belly here. It's flat here with a concave. So you're going to have your stability here. It's a 10 too, so should be fine. We can always make more stable. It. It's just so you don't wear out long arm and the belt hits. I told him that we should get this home and sell it. That's it. That's it. Get so far back to turn. Because the whole key is get back here and just make a short corner. Well, you don't have to be back there to have it. That's good. Cuz I'm not known for my mobility alone. No, not yet. That's what it's Supposed to be. Yeah, We'll sink this thing. What's the thickness here? 3 and 3, 8 plus. All right, ready? Wait, wait. Let me get the mask over here. Good, thanks. Okay, so now tell what happens next, Bob. Oh, sorry, Bob. We can film it if you want. What we do is we treat this. See these little, these holes here? Epoxy is stronger than polyester. And we'll put one layer of six ounce on the bottom, two layers of six ounce on the deck. Normal. Normal. And that should be strong enough to last for a few years depending upon how rough you are. How big a wager now, who you loan the board to. I swear I didn't have that ding. Yeah. If I come in at high tide, then at the lavender, we put the fin system in. We're going two ses. With a fox. We could do a future, whatever. When's the handle going? Then you hot coat the board. There's still dust in the air. I'm going to put this thing. I'm so old. You don't need it. I'm in there a lot. So then we hot glued the board with a layer of thin layer of epoxy on this side and thin layer on this side. Then we sand the board down and you sand it, ferret it all in. Then we shoot another thin layer of gloss resin on each side. It's a little harder and it polishes out nice. And right before we do that, we stick the handle in. You threw your handle in here? Well, I'm right handed, so below the stringer here, wherever you want it, but you're the expert. I would normally put it here right down next to the stringer for support and everything. Okay. But some guys like them over here. Okay. The hell do I know? I saw your daughter's boyfriend's boarding gun. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Can I get a design like. Oh, yeah. Is that patented to him? No, no, no. Yeah. Pat, we got a license fee. That's a. That's a Mavericks. He charges Mavericks up there. He does really well. And yeah, we just finished, so. Yeah, what color? I like red. I really like, do that in red. Yeah. So we're going to nix your design here. Yeah, you want Kevin Reeves. He just brought that in. There you go. Kevin Reese. Read. Unbelievable. No. So, yeah, it looks like fun that with red. Yeah, they fade from one red logo, whatever. Red, blue, red, white and blue. Red, white and blue. Yeah. We should ask the people what color. Go to a vote. Yeah, okay. Red, red, white and blue. Very. Fade from one red to an orange. Yeah, yeah. Like wood. See how the thread up here and it fades from orange to a yellow to green. Fade from, like, a red to, like, an orange and fade out. So we're gonna go. I think a dark color would. Okay. Dominate it. If you do red, it's gonna look like the red is just coming off that whole thing. So surprise me. Like, Jamie's board is the only color in that. Surprise me. Red or blue? Red and blue. Okay. Look at. Look at this chart, Will. That's the original. That's great. Yeah, we did that when Shay was in here. Frosty talking design. There's gonna be some great story. Right. So you like a hiring cleaning service. And they came in and they cleaned all the black bars. I've drawn a lot down below and everything with guys explaining design and stuff, but never needed a whole chalkboard. Yeah, you know, I. It was cool. I just. The memory of Jim Frosty and the excitement and passion of all three of us was pretty intense. Yeah. Fantastic. That's it. Good. I can't wait. What you do is squeeze your thumbprint. Right. How long did that take? We said like an hour and seven minutes. We started about 1:30. Congratulations. Congratulations. You finally got yourself a real board. You're like a father. Right there. Stay away from everybody to protect it. Yeah, right. I'm gonna bodyguard that thing. Hey, guys. Going on this one. Back off. All right, thank you, everybody. So we're at the Pearson Arrow Factory and Bob Pearson. Call her Noel. Thank you. Thank you.
