My Chat with Breitling about the #Exospace B55

Breitling's Exospace B55 is a connected watch that syncs lap times and data to your phone via wireless transfer and Excel export. It handles 37 time zones including half and quarter-hour offsets, charges magnetically over USB, and runs one to two months per charge depending on alarm and backlight use.

You are running to the central park and you do around the reservoir. You just. Well, this is for lab. Yeah, for lab. Just an example. You can do that as a pilot and a pilot myself. So to fill your logbook, you can have this kind of application as well. But this is very easy. So you start to run first lap. So you are very, very fast. Then you have the second lap. You are becoming a little bit tired, so a little bit longer. And the last lap you finish and you sprint. Okay, stop. Then you have your phone in the hotel or wherever you live. Then you open your app. And when you're opening, the app is taking the data from the watch. And what we just measured is now here in the watch. It's retrieving the data. And that will show you how fast you run. So first lap, second lap, third lap. The best one was the fourth one. 4 second 37 and total time 17.17 seconds of running. Then you say that to the phone. You go to the phone, you select the one you just run. You can send that by email to your computer, your Windows computer.
You're killing me.
You send it and then what we just measured, you receive the email, you have a notification. And what we just measured here in an Excel shield format, a little bit wireless should be improved here. But what we just measured is here. And if you keep track of your training, you just download that in your Excel sheet. Now you could do that by taking scrolling the crown. And so that makes your life much easier.
Now when I get off the airplane and the phone changes the time.
Yeah, you can do that.
It's automatically change the watch. I don't have to tell the watch to go to Cinco.
No, this is an option. You know when you know, this is. This is now we have a local time in New York. And now it's the second time zone is Zurich.
Yeah.
So if you want to. If you are landing in Zurich and you look at the screen, local time and destination. Oh, shit. How can I do that? I will lose a minute. Is it possible to go backwards forward? Don't forget all that. You just swap here and you see the hands are moving. This is how you do that. If you have the cities. But there is another features if you don't. If you want to adjust that automatically, six hours, a little bit long here. If you want to set here, you have Zurich. If you want to change that, you go here and you have all the different cities. Or you do auto update with phone. And when you are landing somewhere, that will change wherever the phone Is. Yeah, that's how it works.
Because there are places in India that have half time zones.
Yeah. And Nepal or Kibana Quarter. You can adjust that. We can adjust all the 37 different time zones we have.
I tried a Sony Astron, you know the one that takes the three GPS things. And what I found is that in the real world you're never standing outside. So I tried the Sony watch. So you land in the airport.
Yeah.
You get in the car, you go to a hotel, you've not been outside, you have to go stand outside.
Or you need a very good antenna, a very sensitive gps.
Yeah.
Which. But this is. You can just do that. It's a phone. Yeah, it's a phone. Yeah.
And is it. I see you're using. Sorry, do you have Android and iOS?
Yes, we have both. Okay.
We have both already available.
Yes, of course. Yeah. Yes. Also what is interesting, everything. This is not only a real Breitling watch, but it's a surreal Swiss Smith watch as well. We have very good engineers in Switzerland as well. And all the development regarding the software management of the power consumption of the antenna to have the best range. The app has been developed by the people who are doing our website. So we both, of course, course some electronic component from the shelves from abroad because we don't produce that in Switzerland. Like we have to buy titanium from abroad because we don't have titanium mine in Switzerland. But the real added value, everything has been developed and now is produced, assembled, tested in Switzerland. So it's also not only a real Breitling watch, but a real Swiss made watch. We have this technology in Switzerland. How can you beat that?
I don't know.
So you're recording that as well.
Okay, what's in here?
It's gloves.
Gloves.
Yeah. When you're presenting new watches, that's not the one I'm wearing. So we can touch it. But we are selling luxury watches. So you have to wear gloves when you're presenting. If you want a pair of braille gloves, you can have them. All the saves people are when they are presenting watches to the cast, they are wearing gloves.
And it's using low power Bluetooth, obviously.
So how long between to recharge? It all depends not on the connection because connectivity is not taking that much. Not taxing so much the battery. But most importantly is the alarm. If you have a vibrator, buzzer or the light, this is taking a lot of power. So depending how extensively you have the lighting, it's between one to two months.
Recharge in the Apple world You know, that's like 60 times longer.
This is a brightening world. It's not the Apple world.
Yeah. And you just plug it in with usb.
Yeah, USB and very, you know, small magnet.
Oh, it's that then.
That's it. We try to make our life as easy as possible.
If Apple did this, this, this wire would be $100. Right. And it would be like non standard USB.
If you buy the batch, you get.
The water free, you get the cable for free. That's a good deal. Okay, what else can you tell us?
I think we look really forward to. We are quite excited for the very special day moment tonight to be here in Europe to present the first Breitling connective watch. And you know it's part of Brightling spirit to have functional watches. That watch which was launched in 1995. We never talked about connected watch yet. No, that watch was sending signals to satellites allowing to find and save more than 20 people. Oh, it's 20 people.
Yeah.
Which were in real distress situation. That was another type of connectivity. But this was connected in a sense.
This is the coolest watch. You know, like not that many people have this.
No, not many. Yeah, that's true. And it looks good at you, especially when you are on the TV.
All the time. Didn't I send you that video?
Yeah. Mercedes, cnbc, Adora, Icberg. I see all of them.
Will there be other color brace?
Yep. For time being we are presenting the blue strap with the blue hands. But there will be a gray and a white and a black strap matching with the hands as well.
